Historically, there were eighteen Tusi in the Jiarong area, of which there were four Tusi in the Malkan area, namely Suomo Tusi, Zhuokeji Tusi, Dangba Tusi and Songgang Tusi, commonly known as the "Four Towns". Songgang, called "Ronggang" in Tibetan, means an official village on a mountain ridge. Kepan Tianjie is located on the ridge at an altitude of more than 2600 meters in Songgang Town, Maerkang. Looking up from the Suomo River Valley, it is like a market rising into the clouds and in the sky. Because the market is on the middle of the mountain, it is often shrouded in fog, taking the name of the first generation of Tusi Kepan is called "Kepan Tianjie".
The Tusi Kepan was stationed here during the Tang Dynasty and began to govern this land. It took him nine years to unify the rebellion here and establish his own regime. In order to facilitate living and future management, he established an official village here. Later, successive Tuscans repaired and expanded the official village. During the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty, the official village ushered in major changes. At that time, the Tuscans in office modeled the construction method of the Potala Palace and built a new official village between the ridges without any buildings., and connected the new and old official villages to form a whole. This was a costly project at the time, with the wall alone being 1 meter thick. Looking at the official village from a distance, it is natural, majestic and invincible.
This is a typical architectural style of houses in Jiarong Tibetan areas. It is characterized by using local materials, using local rich green gray block stones, and building houses with stones. Most of them have a 2-to 3-story structure. Strong and beautiful. The official village on Kepantian Street was the official residence of Songgang Tusi in successive dynasties. It was the first official village in the "Eighteen Lands". Songgang has been passed down from generation to generation, serving as Tusi for 25 generations. Songgang Tusi built part of his residence for various skilled craftsmen introduced from various places. After years of operation, a relatively large-scale and prosperous trading market in the Jiarong area has gradually been formed.
