Nian Wei Wuzhen | Dream of Jiangnan

Holding an oil paper umbrella, I wander alone in the long and lonely rainy alley. I hope to meet a girl who is filled with sorrow and resentment like lilacs. The misty rain in Jiangnan, depicted by Dai Wangshu, is gentle and graceful, beautiful and beautiful, attracting people's longing. Living in a noisy city for a long time, it is inevitable to have some longing for the peaceful and tranquil ancient town. At the end of the year holiday, after waiting for a long time of leisure, I finally boarded the train to Wuzhen in Jiangnan and embarked on a magnificent New Year trip - Dream of Water Town, Wuzhen in Jiangnan!

Speaking of Wuzhen, what I imagine in my mind is a warm and moist time, with the damp atmosphere of a small bridge, flowing water, and riverbank, falling into the creaking sound of oars.
The river is speechless, quietly bidding farewell to the clear autumn with Wuzhen, and hastily welcoming the deep winter, from blooming to falling, from origin to extinction. Many years later, everything remains the same as before, except that all the flowing past is destined to become memories.
Countless winters, the taste of the new year is even stronger. The weather in Wuzhen is slightly cold, but it is filled with the enthusiasm of the town. The Water Lantern Festival at night illuminates the sky, the river, and the reflection of the Jiangnan charm in the water.
Under these ancient and slightly lonely eaves, there has been a green growth, a calm defense, and a hasty separation, all of which have merged into the lights of countless families as the clouds and smoke pass by.
Those who are intoxicated by Wuzhen, carrying the beauty of Jiangnan and the charm of a water town, reminisce under the green shade of lush tree houses. The Jiangnan in Tang and Song poetry, the Jiangnan pursued in dreams, surprisingly has such breathtaking beauty and gentleness.
Rural Wilderness, Wuzhen Wucun. Children wander in Nianwei Wuzhen during the Chinese New Year holiday, laughing loudly and running to their heart's content in the simple Wucun village. Draw a New Year picture, make a cake, go to the New Year market to catch up on big events, feel free and at ease, and your heart is like wings.
Unconsciously turning around, can you really meet the girl carrying an oil paper umbrella with lilac worries, walking in a light and agile alley, at the end of a dreamy bridge, and entering the elegant dyeing workshop like the passage of time.
A thousand year old ancient town, a dreamy water town, sleeping by the river, what kind of long-lasting charm is it?

Nianwei Wuzhen | Tongle Wucun

Wuzhen is located at the northern end of Tongxiang City, and there are direct high-speed trains from Hangzhou and Shanghai. Hangzhou Airport also has a direct bus to Wuzhen, which takes more than 20 minutes by high-speed rail from Hangzhou to Wuzhen. After getting off, you also need to transfer to K281 or K282 bus, and drive for more than an hour to Wuzhen Bus Station.

The first stop to reach Wuzhen is Wucun, a one-stop rural leisure resort that integrates food, accommodation, transportation, tourism, shopping, and entertainment. Experience the warmth of visiting households in the countryside before.
At the end of the year, Wucun is hosting winter camp activities, such as playing rice cakes, rushing to markets, racing with pigs, archery, and drawing New Year paintings, which are full of festive experiences. In my impression, even in winter, the weather in Jiangnan should be warm, but when I arrived in Wuzhen, I realized that it was rainy in Jiangnan. After all, it was winter and I still felt a bit damp and cold. Even so, it couldn't stop everyone's enthusiasm and they all joined the winter camp activities in Wuzhen, enjoying it tirelessly.
Rural farming fun, peaceful slow time. Starting from stepping into Wucun, every moment is a moment of enjoyment. You can fully experience the gentleness of the water town in Jiangnan, step on bluestone slabs, search for that beauty and tranquility along the riverbank alleys, and use your camera to record this wonderful moment with your eyes and heart.
Not far from the Wucun Village Committee, there is a Wucun Cultural Experience Center just a few minutes away. Inside, there are many indoor winter camp experience projects, such as DIY desserts and pastries, learning to draw New Year paintings, and various exquisite handmade small gifts. This is the favorite place for children.
The children's playhouse is also located in the same building, and the entire experience center is still very large. There are many LEGO toys inside, and you can use your hands and brains frequently, learn while playing, and have endless fun.
There is a self-service restaurant in the experience center, and the food in the restaurant is quite complete. There are many foods suitable for children to eat, and the main meals in Wucun are usually eaten here. However, the closing time for dinner here is very early, and the meal starts at 7:30 pm. In the evening, you can go eat first, and then go to the night view in time.
The accommodation place in Wucun Village is close to the village committee of Wucun Village, which is actually the reception desk of Wucun Hotel. When the village committee goes out, it is our "group" accommodation in Wucun Village. The mill will have the experience of grinding beans at a specific time. There is a small restaurant on the first floor. As long as you live here, you can have free meals on the first floor. Scallion bean curd, noodles mixed with scallion oil, bean curd jelly served with sauce jelly, Wonton of all sizes, etc. The snacks are very exquisite, and taste good, but they are small in size, but you can order more.
In the evening, before 12 o'clock, there is a Little pan rice restaurant near Micang, which is also free of charge. The food is authentic. There is also soup Congee, which is suitable for young people to stay up late and hunt for food.

Nianwei Wuzhen | Poetic Charm West Gate

The beauty of Wuzhen is a natural and simple beauty, with small bridges, flowing water, and homes forming the unique delicate charm of Jiangnan. From Wucun to Xizha, back and forth, there is a transition between simplicity and beauty, seemingly similar but not entirely the same. The tranquility of Xizha highlights the millennium old cultural heritage of Wuzhen.

Entering Xizha, the Wuzhen Grand Theater is also an indispensable tourist attraction in Wuzhen. The rare modern architecture in the ancient town is three-dimensional yet not abrupt.
Skipping the cruise ship and stepping over the stone bridge, the Grass and Wood Natural Color Dyeing Workshop stands in front of us. The scale of the dyeing workshop is very large, and people like to take photos here. The high drying poles are hung with dense cloth, and when the wind blows, the cloth dances in the wind, like a colorful cloud. If you feel unsatisfied with the view, you can also go to the nearby "Blue Printing School" to experience it and add a fun to your journey.
Wuzhen, those folk cultural complexes integrated into the local people's bones, are the beliefs that this town has adhered to for thousands of years. The annual flavor here is even stronger, and it is a childhood memory that I didn't want to forget.
In the old days, going to the market to purchase New Year's goods before the New Year was the first prelude to preparing for the New Year. In the market, there are crowds of people, including new clothes, Spring Festival couplets, calendars, candies, chicken, duck, fish, bamboo shoots, meat skins, fruits... Mom will buy a big New Year picture, with a chubby little girl or chubby little boy holding a big carp! There are even more colorful and festive flowers in the scenery.
The annual market of Wuzhen is even more different. In the past, Wuzhen was located at the junction of two provinces, three prefectures, and seven counties, with dense river channels and smooth connections in all directions. The residents of the towns and villages in the four townships and eight neighborhoods are accustomed to rocking boats and coming out early in the morning to drink morning tea, while also rushing to the morning market. They bring the vegetables and livestock they grow and raise to the market for buying and selling, to supplement their household needs. Gradually, the market becomes very lively. In the deep winter of the twelfth lunar month, the water market becomes a water market, with more abundant goods. From the bustling morning to the evening, farmers from all over the country come here, shouting and exchanging goods. It's really lively.
The water bazaar in Xisha, Wuzhen opened to welcome the New Year, and the sound of hawking kept rising. The boats full of New Year's goods docked on the shore. The New Year's goods stalls were full of fried Spring rolls, Dingsheng cakes, crabapple cakes, Ruyi rice dumpling and other snacks.
There are also folk performances such as pulling Yangpian, kneading dough, and bench boxing, which are particularly colorful; Traditional New Year customs such as making rice cakes and writing Spring Festival couplets are also indispensable; The handmade and old secret recipe made fresh and shiny hooves, salted fish, salted meat, and sauce duck hanging under the eaves are even popular items in the market... When I was young, I went to Wuzhen to experience the custom of buying New Year's goods in Jiangnan for a hundred years and become a resident of Wuzhen.
Wuzhen, one of the six famous ancient towns in China, is located at a crucial transportation hub in northern Zhejiang Province. It is a city formed by water and a port built by the river. Since ancient times, merchants have gathered here, making it known as a "bustling town" with fireworks and a city like atmosphere. The intricately arranged courtyard bridges, blue bricks and gray tiles, and the ancient wooden door fences, everywhere, contain a strong ink fragrance, and everywhere, let you touch the ink fragrance of books and scrolls
The buildings in Wuzhen are mainly made of brick and wood structures from the Ming and Qing dynasties, and there are still over 200000 square meters of Ming and Qing architecture preserved to this day. Numerous deep mansions and courtyards are the hidden places of ancient merchants, tycoons, and officials. Seemingly an inconspicuous door, it is a maze like corridor and hall. The stone carvings, brick carvings, and wood carvings on the beams, columns, doors, and windows are complex and exquisite, and magnificent. The roof of the building has a unique Guanyin Dou and Ma Tou Wall, which can prevent fire and wind, resembling the Five Sacred Mountains facing the sky, symmetrical on both sides, towering and beautiful.
Wuzhen Street has a large number and scale of streets, squares, and alleys, commonly known as having four gates, eight squares, and dozens of alleys. According to the "Wuqing Town Annals" edited by Lu Xuebo during the Republic of China era, there were still eight neighborhoods, eight streets, and sixty eight alleys, of which eight neighborhoods were analyzed as forty-seven neighborhoods. Connecting the old street are numerous alleys and alleys, among which the dyeing shop lane is the most secluded and narrow. The incomplete carvings and mottled paint make people feel the infinite charm of time.
Wuzhen has over a hundred ancient stone bridges, which are among the top in Chinese ancient towns. The ancient bridges of various shapes connect the town of Wuzhen, which stretches in all directions. From the Southern Song Dynasty to the Ming and Qing dynasties, each bridge had its own personality and story. Crossing the arched bridge like a crescent moon, sitting on the stone railing of the Boping Bridge, or leaning under the eaves of the Twin Bridges, feel the long and poetic charm of the Wuzhen Water Town.

Nianwei Wuzhen | Water Lamp Night Shadow

As night falls, the scenery of Wuzhen at night becomes more alluring, with dim lights and seductive nights. The player lights instantly lit up the entire Wuzhen, and after dinner, people walked around the corners of Wuzhen, enjoying a different Jiangnan flavor than during the day

The Water Lantern Festival in Wuzhen is only held during the Chinese New Year holiday, and every time it happens, it brings out the dazzling lights of countless families. In fact, shopping for lanterns during the Chinese New Year is a folk custom in many places. There are countless lantern festivals across the country, but the lantern festivals in Wuzhen are unique. The Water Town Lantern Festival is closely related to water. The "Wuzhen Water Lantern Festival", also known as the "Wuzhen Lantern Festival", was once called the "Wuzhen Night Festival".
The Wuzhen Water Lantern Festival is divided into two sections: the Water Lantern Group and the Land Lantern Group. The waterway runs along the Yuanbao Lake, the Water Market, and the Emerald Wave in Wuzhen. The land route extends to Longxingtian and Wangwu Road. The 1.8-kilometer-long water and land lanterns will enhance the flavor of Wuzhen New Year. According to the Republic of China edition of "Wuqing Town Chronicle", during the New Year in Wuzhen, the street market tests the lanterns, and the good deeds are hidden poems and verses, which are left for people to ponder. They also made rolling lights and dragon, elephant, lion and horse light games in the market, and went to the Yuanxiao (Filled round balls made of glutinous rice-flour for Lantern Festival) as the Lantern Festival. The restoration of the folk custom of "Wuzhen Water Lantern Festival" in Wuzhen has become another scenic spot for celebrating the Chinese New Year.

Nianwei Wuzhen | Eden Time

Leaving Wuzhen, many are reluctant to part ways. On the last night, I booked the Platinum Hotel in Eden opposite the Tongxiang High Speed Railway Station, which is perfect for getting up early and taking the early high-speed train back.

As soon as I entered the hotel lobby, it was a magnificent and spacious one, elegant and luxurious. After asking, I found out that this was a new hotel that had been open for several months. I couldn't help but take photos around the hotel, and everywhere was a magnificent artistic atmosphere. Wherever I went, it was stunning.
The visual experience of the room is even better than online, with a large layout of one room, one living room, one kitchen, and one bathroom. It feels like living alone is a bit wasteful, and the bedding is very comfortable. The kitchen utensils, washing machine, and personal safe are all available, and lying in bed doesn't want to move at all.
Oh by the way, the hotel's buffet is of high quality, with a complete variety that goes without saying. Each person can also receive a Boston lobster and shark fin soup with a coupon. The freshly cooked hard dishes are available in unlimited quantities, providing a great value for money dining experience.
If you have nothing to do in the evening, you can take a stroll in the backyard of the hotel. There is a wedding church in the back, which is quite suitable for taking photos. There are two buildings on both sides that sandwich the church in the middle, which is quite interesting.
From the window of the room, you can see the Tongxiang High Speed Railway Station, but the night view around the station is average, and the lights are not very bright. Fortunately, there is a continuous flow of traffic to complement it.
