Xiamen Zengcuo 'an, a former small fishing village, has become a check-in point for tourists to Xiamen, almost on par with Gulangyu Island, Shapowei, and Xiamen University. The small fishing village that could still smell the smell of fish twenty years ago is now bustling every day, and the only smell of barbecue is in the narrow alleys. There are too many tourists and too strong commercial flavor, and Xiamen locals will avoid them.
Aotou Village, located in Xiang 'an, faces Xiamen Island across the sea. It turned out to be a small fishing village with a long history but unknown. Only residents on the island occasionally go there to taste authentic seafood. In recent years, it has been built into a literary and artistic town, including the entire coastline is under development. Especially with the acceleration of the construction of Xiang 'an's new airport, the development of Xiang' an is becoming more and more intense. New buildings in the surrounding area are mushrooming, and more and more citizens are visiting Aotou.
Here is a brief introduction to the places to visit in Xiaaotou and surrounding areas. Xiamen locals have never been to many places, and they should be completely unfamiliar to foreign tourists.
[Aotou]
Aotou Community is located in Xindian Town, Xiang 'an District, Xiamen City. It is located at a place where ships can be docked, hence the name Aotou. Just turn around the Xiang 'an Tunnel Exit from Xiamen Island.
Aotou was once a famous ancient ferry in southern Fujian and a famous hometown of overseas Chinese. Today's Aotou not only retains the simple style of a thousand-year-old fishing village, but also blends southern Fujian's marine culture with world contemporary art.
Strolling through Aotou, which is built around the lake, you will find scattered houses, rippling blue waves of the lake and hidden by green trees. From time to time, you can see traditional red brick houses in southern Fujian, as well as the History Museum and the Village History Museum, which can be visited for free. There are still many elderly people peeling oysters on the roadside, and there is a faint sea smell everywhere. There are dozens of seafood restaurants, large and small, scattered in the village, attracting many citizens to come and taste authentic seafood on weekends.
There is also a typhoon memorial park at the entrance of the village, where the 2016-magnitude 15 strong typhoon "Moranti" made landfall. There are also several inconspicuous artillery positions nearby, silently telling the history of this place as a coastal defense front line.
Walking towards the seaside, fishing boats of all sizes are scattered around the ancient ferry. The Ocuo Wharf not far away is planned to be built into the national central fishing port. Under the sunset, villagers gather under the big banyan tree and look at the fishing boats in the harbor, as if they were recalling their ancestors 'voyages to Southeast Asia. story.
[Super Kuang Art Museum]
This is an art museum uprooted in wasteland, next to Aotou Village. Few people in Xiamen know about it. It is a metal frame building with simple structure, full tension, modern fashion, and very beautiful. It will leave a very deep impression at first glance. Various exhibitions are held here from time to time, and many artists are also gathered to open studios here, such as Chen Wenling, a well-known artist in Xiamen. There is also a large library where you can make a pot of kung fu tea in your spare time and sit quietly all day. (Closed on Mondays)
[Nordic Art Center]
This was originally the former site of a school, based on Nordic style, and transformed into an art base connecting China and Northern Europe. In addition to the fact that art from all over the world is often exhibited here, what is more important is that domestic and Nordic artists often live here, creating quietly.
[Nanyin Park]
Nanyin is a national intangible cultural heritage. This is the first park with the theme of Nanyin in Xiamen City. It has just been completed and integrates culture, leisure and landscape. In the park, there is Nanyin Performance Square Park, Lingkong Plank Road, and a local Shuiwei Palace is also preserved. Singing Nanyin is a folk culture of local villagers for hundreds of years. The completion of Nanyin Park will provide a place for Nanyin lovers to communicate and allow tourists to appreciate the ancient art known as "living fossils in the history of Chinese music".
[Yangfan Park]
This is another new park that Xiamen people may have seen but few have visited. In fact, the main part is the ventilation tower of Xiang 'an Tunnel (the other end is in Wutong Lighthouse Park), and the entire park is built above Xiang' an Tunnel. From a distance, the ventilation tower looks like a raised sail standing tall on the sea. The park is very large in area and is divided into two parts by Binhai East Avenue. There is also a sign of Zhongshan Overseas Chinese Park on one side. The park is green with green grass and many leisure and sports facilities. Unfortunately, tourists are hardly visible.
[Other]
The southwest coastline of Xiang 'an with Aotou Village as the center is under development. There are not many foreign tourists, so there are few B & Bs. However, the Mediterranean-style "Aohai No. 1" built near the ancient Dukou is eye-catching. The pure white building is very eye-catching in the blue sky and blue sea, and there is also an open-air bar on the roof. Sitting on the balcony of the model house, the "Qianwan" building being built at the entrance of the village, you can overlook the entire Aotou. If you have time, keep walking towards Dadeng. There is also a little-known wetland near the bridge, which is actually the salt field of those days.
[Tour transportation, time arrangements, fees]
Starting from Xiamen Island, you can navigate Aotou Village and other places by yourself. Not far from Xiang 'an Tunnel, turn right and you can get there in ten minutes. Parking in the village is relatively convenient, and there is also a large free parking lot opposite the Chaokuang Art Museum. If you take a bus, first pass through Xiang 'an Tunnel to Yangtang, and then turn to No. 703 to the destination Oucuo Village Station.
If it is local in Xiamen, it would be enough to arrange for one day. Go to Yangfan Park first, then return to Aotou, go around the lake, walk around the village, eat seafood at noon, visit the art museum in the afternoon, and go to the port to watch the sunset in the evening. Foreign tourists can find a B & B to stay and play for two days and slowly taste fishing village life.
All parks, memorial halls and art galleries in Aotou and nearby are free. For meals, ordinary seafood is enough for a few dozen yuan per person.
In short, Aotou is a fishing port town with both traditional fishing village customs and modern art elements. The crowded Zengcuo 'an has long lost the feeling of a fishing village, and its literary and artistic flavor is nothing. However, Aotou has the shortcoming of being slightly far away from the main scenic spots on Xiamen Island. However, after the opening of Xiang 'an New Airport, foreign tourists can stop by and visit Aotou, and they can also plan on the same route as Dadeng and others. Another problem is that there are no sandy beaches on the coastline near Aotou, which will definitely be disappointing for tourists who want to come to Xiamen to see the sea. It is recommended to build artificial beaches on the beaches from Aotou to Yangfan Park in the future, such as those on the east coast of Xiamen and other places. It was very successful. It would be more convenient if a new channel could be built from below Yangfan Park in Xiang 'an Tunnel to turn directly right to the coast of Aotou.
If Aotou is properly protected and moderately developed, with the development of Xiang 'an and the implementation of the 6.3-kilometer-long Coastal Romantic Line renovation project, it is entirely possible to replace or even surpass Zeng Cuo' an in the near future and become a popular tourist destination for Xiamen tourism.
