Day1
The weather in Xiamen is so good now. Every day, there are blue skies and white clouds, and you can take pictures of it all. It takes about 10 minutes to get to Gulangyu by boat at the dock! After coming out of the piano dock, it takes about 5.6 minutes to walk on the left hand side to reach Lin's Mansion; it takes about 10 minutes to get down from Sanqiutian Pier (you can also ask the hotel housekeeper to pick it up).
Many people know that the owner of "Shuzhuang Garden" is Lin Erjia. Lin Erjia actually does not live in Shuzhuang Garden, but lives in Lin's Mansion. Lin's Mansion is known as one of the top ten mansions in Gulangyu. It was the center of Gulangyu at that time. You can see how prosperous it was at that time.
Lin's Mansion is the former residence of the Lin family in TW Banqiao on Gulangyu Island, commonly known as "Fu Nei". It is located at No. 13 to No. 15 Lujiao Road, Gulangyu Island. There are 5 buildings inside; except for the Octagonal Building, which serves as the lobby of Lin's Mansion Mansion Hotel and Lin's Mansion Family Expo Hall, the other 4 buildings are hotel rooms.
The building (Colonial Corridor Building, British) and the small building collapsed during the typhoon, and what we see so far is in their restored state. This time, I stayed in a small building, which was also the place where Lin Erjia's children lived.
The rooms here are basically different depending on which room you book. When you walk into the small building, you are attracted by the lobby on the first floor. The decoration and style here have both Nanyang style and Southern Fujian style. From the sofa to the decoration, everything seems to have reached the original era.
This time I stayed in Room 8214. The retro key opened the thick door, and I was amazed when I opened the door! Not only is the room huge, there is also a doorway at the entrance, and there is a pot of elegant orchids at the entrance.
The room is about 50 square meters, with a seating area on one side with a sofa, tea set and a work desk! On the other side is a 2-meter-long bed, next to the large bed is a retro wardrobe and TV cabinet (hidden).
The facilities in the room are all very high-class, the coffee is on the ear, and even the toiletries are of great brands. Also, all drinks in the refrigerator are free, which is so heroic!
The bathroom is separated from dry and wet, there is also a bathtub, the decoration on the wall and the retro sink are all eye-catching.
By the way, you can also change clothes for free while staying here. Hurry up and pick up a beautiful cheongsam and transform yourself into a "celebrity" of the Republic of China. Stroll around Lin's Mansion and pretend to be a member here!
Change your clothes and enjoy afternoon tea under the century-old camphor tree first! Afternoon tea in 1998 is so great! Handmade snacks + coffee + tea, you can order tea if you like tea, you can order coffee if you like coffee, or you can mix and mix it if you like. Isn't this hotel too considerate?
I like the refreshments here very much, egg yolk crisp, mung bean cake, peach crisp... I find that there will be a little change every time. The key point is that it is not only delicious, but also beautiful.
After afternoon tea, take a tour of Lin's Mansion! Starting with the oldest octagonal building, it has a five-story brick and wood structure. It is said to have been designed by a French missionary and has both Southern European style and Baroque elements. The shape of the villa has irregular corners, forming many octagons. Each face has an arched European-style window. The window lintel is made of white doves and entangled flowers. It is white and elegant, and has a Baroque atmosphere. The stairs here also retain the earliest wooden revolving ladder, and the stepping point in the middle is a semicircular copper sheet.
The building was a villa owned by a British captain before 1895. It was purchased by Lin Weiyuan (Lin Erjia's father) when he lived in Gulangyu in 1895. Although it is the oldest building, the current building is also restored to its original appearance. Getting started is like a small exhibition hall, which is said to be collected by the boss! The decoration here is more retro, and walking in is like crossing the Republican era. Whether it is lights or decorations, they all feel super substitution. The room is said to be quite retro, so I will try choosing a building next time.
The small building was built later by Lin Weiyuan. Now the 1.2nd floor is a guest room, and the first underground floor is a Fujian cuisine restaurant. It used to be only for hotel guests, but now it is open to the public. I found that the decoration of both the rooms and the restaurant was very unique.
On the side of the small building and behind the building are gardens, and in the middle are fountains and cobblestone paths. Children especially like to see koi carp here. There is also a century-old kapok tree here. It should be especially beautiful when the flowers bloom in spring, right?
It's so beautiful to find that you can visit Lin's Mansion for a day. Especially if you put on a qipao, you can make a big movie no matter where you are. No wonder Peng Yuyan has lived here for more than a month!
As night comes, of course, we will have the Minnan Family Banquet of Lin Mansion for dinner. The retro decoration style and warm lighting are very romantic. Most of the people who eat here are in-house guests, so few people know that it is also open to the public. The choice is the Linfu Family Banquet 298 for 2-3 people.
Raw baked large yellow croaker in a pagoda pot, three cups abalone chicken with Taxiang, stewed mushroom with black garlic soup steak with stomach, baby cabbage with soup and crispy appetizer with sour taste. Finally, I added some Lin Mansion Private Kitchen Pancakes! I found that the food is super southern Fujian and tastes great. No wonder the weekend nights are full.
After dinner, you can also visit Gulangyu at night, or admire the building and the museum on the first floor of the small building. It is worth taking your time to taste.
You can also go back to your room, take a hot bath, change into a bathrobe and lie in bed watching TV. The bed here is really comfortable, not very soft, nor hard, so you have a good night's sleep!
Day2
A good night's sleep starts the day. Of course, you have to get up early and enter Riguang Rock before the crowd. Don't arrive too early at Riguang Rock, which opens at 8 a.m.! You can visit the old villas along the way. It takes about an hour to visit Riguang Rock, because it mainly takes a high view here, overlooking the entire Gulangyu Island and Xiamen Island.
It was a great satisfaction to return to the hotel at 9 o'clock and enjoy the rich breakfast in the 9th palace! A combination of meat and vegetables, with eggs and porridge, or noodles. If the staple food is not enough, you can continue it. It's so considerate!
After dinner, you can continue to go to Shuzhuang Garden, Haoyue Garden... or you can learn from me and stay lazily in the hotel to brew a pot of tea, sip tea, and enjoy the tranquility of that moment!
Don't think that prices on Gulangyu are high. After all, there is no traffic on the island, and everything needs to be transported manually. When you see the hard working people next to the dock, you will appreciate their dedication.
Gulangyu is really worth coming back and coming back, and Lin Mansion is really worth staying in again and again! When it's time to check out, it's still hard to leave! Waiting for different seasons, I will come back to Lin Mansion to experience the different scenery.
