Students in Jimei are undoubtedly happy. When you are tired from your homework, you can go to the dragon boat pond to blow in the evening wind, take a walk on Yinjiang Road in the beautiful environment, or you can also climb high and look at Jimei School Village. Founded under the personal guidance of Mr. Chen Jiageng, its building integrates Chinese and Western styles into one furnace, reflecting the typical architectural style of the hometown of overseas Chinese in southern Fujian.
Whether it is the tall and spectacular school buildings or the small and elegant pavilions, corridors and pavilions, they are all covered with glazed roofs, dragon ridges and phoenix eaves, and carved beams and painted buildings. When you look closely, they each have their own ingenuity and no one is the same. People call it the "Jiageng style".
The Daonan Building of Jimei Middle School, the Nanxun Building of Jimei Overseas Chinese School, and the White Building of the School of Navigation of Jimei University are either tall and straight, or ready to fly in the sky, and are full of personality.
Mr. Chen Jiageng's former residence is located in the center of Jimei Xuecun, now No. 149 Jiageng Road. Completed in June 1918, it is a Romanesque building with a total construction area of about 400 square meters. It was the place where Mr. Kageng and his brother Chen Jingxian worked and lived during their return to China.
Both floors of the former residence are now used as exhibition rooms: the first floor displays the history of Jimei School, showing Mr. Chen Jiageng's hardships, twists and turns and brilliant achievements in founding Jimei School and Xiamen University since 1913; the second floor is Mr. Chen Jiageng's studio, bedroom, dining room, conference room, relics exhibition room and his brother Mr. Chen Jingxian's life story exhibition room.
Jimei Xuecun is located in the Jimei Tourist Area. The overall architectural style is a combination of Chinese and Western, presenting a typical style of the hometown of overseas Chinese in southern Fujian. Among them, the most beautiful is the Dragon Boat Pond and Jimei Middle School beside the pool, and the most worth seeing is Mr. Chen Jiageng's cemetery Aoyuan.
Xuecun was founded by Mr. Chen Jiageng with great investment. Famous scenic spots include Jiageng Architecture, Dragon Boat Pond, Jiageng Former Residence, Mr. Chen Jiageng Life Story Exhibition Hall, Jiageng Park, Aoyuan, etc. Whether it is the tall and spectacular school buildings or the small and elegant pavilions and corridors, they are all covered with glass roofs, dragon ridges and phoenix eaves, and carved beams and painted buildings. On the inner side of the surrounding walls of Ao Garden are stone carvings, which together with the stone carvings around the porch of the park, Jiageng Tomb and Monument, form a stone carvings museum Grand View Garden. These stone carvings are the essence of Ao Garden.
The porch of Aoyuan is 50 meters long and transparent in all directions. The two walls are inlaid with 58 bluestone carvings of the stories of historical figures. Turning around the wall is the tomb of Mr. Chen Jiageng. The tomb cover is inlaid with thirteen hexagonal green bucket stones. There are 15 embossed of Mr. Chen Jiageng's biography on the inner wall of the tomb fence screen.
On the north side of Ao Garden is Jiageng Park, and the gate is connected to Ao Garden.
