When I came back from Xiamen, I am not a traveling friend. I am a very lazy person. I usually travel with groups. This year, due to the epidemic, there was no group to follow, so I had no choice but to make my own strategies, set routes, and find accommodation. It was really a troublesome thing. In order to save some trouble for the students who were preparing for self-guided tours later, I am going to write a strategy for everyone.
Let me briefly introduce first. Our family traveled and spent a total of five days. We visited Hulishan Fort, Zengcuo 'an, Huandao Road, Xiamen University, Nanputuo Temple, Wanshi Botanical Garden, Ding' ao Zaimao Street, Shapowei West District, Xiamen Science and Technology Museum, Jiageng Park, Gulangyu Island. The cost is estimated to be 2,000 per person, including round-trip air tickets, and we all stayed in B & Bs.
Let's talk about travel time first. The best travel time in Xiamen should be May and June and September and October. There is not so much rain and the temperature is just right. Summer vacation is not the best tourist season, but parents with bears at home have no choice. In order to avoid the more rain and typhoons in August, we chose to go in early July, wondering if the temperature was not so high. In fact, the temperature was really high and the sun was really hot. We went there for 5 days, and it was 36 degrees and 37 degrees every day, which was almost hot. Students who chose to set out at this time, please pay attention to protect themselves from sun protection.
Let's talk about our transportation to Xiamen. We departed from Suzhou and first went to Hongqiao Airport by train. Please note that Hongqiao Airport Station is directly to Terminal T2. Students to Terminal T1 have to take the subway Line 10, which takes only 2 stops, which is actually very convenient. The plane takes about 2 hours from Shanghai to Xiamen, and the train takes 8-9 hours from Suzhou to Xiamen. During the current epidemic, the price of planes and trains is similar, and students can choose their own.
Xiamen is actually a very small place. You can completely choose to travel by yourself. It is very convenient to walk closer, ride a shared bicycle, or take a few bus or subway stops. Get a bus pass and subway card from Alipay. You can travel. If you take a taxi from a distant place, you can travel from the south to the north of Xiamen City for a starting price of 10 yuan. It should be noted that bike-sharing parking cannot be parked casually. You need to park at a designated parking spot, otherwise you will have to charge a management fee of 50 yuan. There are many parking spots. Look at the place framed with blue lines on the sidewalk. That's it.
Accommodation in Xiamen is very convenient. There are many, many B & Bs in Xiamen are relatively new and unique, and the prices are cheap. When we were in downtown Xiamen, we lived next to Xiamen University. The room for three people was nearly 40 square meters., two 1.8 queen beds, only more than 300 a night.
The B & B we stayed in Jimei is also very distinctive. Although the room is small, the decoration is very artistic. Behind the reception bar is a room facing the sea. You can read and drink coffee, and you can also play the air and ming qin. My son likes it very much.
Let me talk about the attractions below.
Perhaps what everyone is most concerned about is Gulangyu. Gulangyu Island is a small island very close to Xiamen. Ships come in and out every day, leaving every 20 minutes. You need to pay attention to the "Xiamen Ferry Official Website" to register and purchase your own. It is recommended that you purchase early to choose the time period you want to go. A round-trip flight is 35 yuan/person for ordinary flights, and 50 yuan/person for luxury flights. If you buy a ticket, you can enter by swiping your ID card. When most people go there, they buy a cruise ship from Xiagu Wharf, the center, to Sanqiutian Wharf, Gulangyu Island. It is relatively close to the attractions and the ferry takes about 20 minutes. After 6 p.m., you board the boat from Sanqiutian Pier and arrive at the ferry terminal. The journey takes about 5 minutes. We didn't get the tickets in the morning. We went to Gulangyu at noon and returned at around seven o'clock in the evening. It was still very bright. Zhongshan Road is down from the ferry terminal. Zhongshan Road is a commercial street. The grade is a bit higher than that of Zeng Cuo 'an. Friends who want to go shopping on Zhongshan Road can consider it.
Gulangyu has five main attractions: Organ Museum, Haoyue Garden, Shuzhuang Garden, Carving Hall, and Riguang Rock. A total of 110 yuan can be purchased for a single purchase. You can buy a joint ticket for the five major attractions, which costs 90 yuan. The joint ticket says that the five attractions are required to enter before 18:00 p.m. In fact, we are on a boat at 12 o'clock, and there is no problem to cover the five spots before 6 p.m. The Organ Museum, Carving Hall, and Haoyue Garden are all very small and will be completed in a short time. Haoyue Garden mainly has a statue of Zheng Chenggong. Shuzhuang Garden is a distinctive garden in Xiamen. It combines the characteristics of Jiangnan courtyards. There are stones, courtyards, water, and bridges. You can go and take a photo. Shuzhuang Garden has a piano museum. People who know the art can go and have a look. I went to blow air conditioning...
It was almost 6 o'clock when we climbed the Riguang Rock. The Riguang Rock was not high, so we could reach the summit quickly by stopping and walking. The main reason was that there were not many people when we went, otherwise the small area on the top would be crowded with people. It would also make people very sad. You can see the panoramic view of Gulangyu Island from the top, and look far into Xiamen. After climbing the summit, you can look over and blowing the sea breeze at the same time, making you feel very comfortable.
In fact, I think the most important thing in Gulangyu is not to visit scenic spots, but to see these distinctive buildings that combine Chinese and Western on the roadside. It is also very enjoyable. There are many distinctive buildings inside, and you can take photos. If you want to take a closer look, you have to go early or just stay in Gulangyu for the night.
I won't talk much about the snacks in Gulangyu Island. Personally, I think that Longtou Snack Street is a small Zengcuo 'an, and the food is similar. It is just snacks from Fujian, but the prices are relatively expensive. Maybe not many people eat it now. It turns out that there is a landmark building corner on Longtou Street, and all the stores there are closed, so I didn't take any photos. The most beautiful corner of Gulangyu Island has now been changed. After getting off at Sanqiutian Wharf, walk directly to the right direction towards the former site of the U.S. Consulate. It takes a short walk, but there are many people taking photos, and many little girls posing there. It is so beautiful that I am embarrassed to stand up and take photos to spoil the scenery in front of so many people.
Xiamen University, the most beautiful university, was founded by Mr. Chen Jiageng. The most famous one is the buildings of Xiamen University, including the Jiannan Auditorium and the winding field. It combines Chinese and Western architectural styles and is very distinctive. It was selected as the "First Batch of China's 20th Century Architectural Heritage" list. There is also a Lu Xun Memorial Hall inside Xiamen University, which introduces Lu Xun's life and combat history. Unfortunately, it was not open during the epidemic. In addition, Furong Lake and Lovers Valley Reservoir are also very artistic. The black swan in Furong Lake is very famous and very close to the people. When we were taking photos by the lake, it would swim over and look at us sideways. Also very famous in Xiamen University is the Furong Tunnel. It is filled with graffiti by students from Xiamen University of various years. It is very talented and imaginative, and you can choose one you like to take photos. Xiamen University requires an appointment to enter, and you should pay attention to the official website WeChat to make an appointment.
Hulishan Fort requires you to purchase tickets in advance. It is on the edge of Huandao Road and next to Xiamen University. There are many cannons inside. The largest is the Krupp Cannon, which is the oldest coastal cannon. As an education base, children can go and find out. There are performances at 10:00 to 16:00 every day. Unfortunately, the performances were suspended during the epidemic and they were not seen.
Nanputuo Temple is also next to Xiamen University. You need to make an appointment to enter. When you go to Nanputuo Temple, don't forget to try their vegetarian meal. It's very delicious. Now they have launched a vegetarian buffet, which costs 99 yuan per person at noon and seems to be 119 yuan per person at night. If people who don't eat much each meal can order individually, remember to order some mashed taro. It's very delicious. Looking back on the few days in Xiamen, this vegetarian meal impressed me the most.
At Wanshi Botanical Garden, you must purchase tickets in advance. After entering, you can buy a sightseeing bus. The sightseeing bus costs 10 yuan/person, but you can only ride it four times. Be careful. The final stop is the National Defense Park. Don't go there. There is nothing to see. There are two points to see in the Botanical Garden. One is a fleshy garden, where the tropical plants grow very tall, which makes it very interesting to take photos. There are also many people who take wedding photos in it; the other is a tropical rainforest, which must be sprayed during the time. After spraying, combined with sunlight, it has a very rainforest fairyland feeling. Many little fairies go to take photos at this time. If people who don't understand plants don't have spray, there will be nothing to see. By the way, there are many mosquitoes in the Botanical Garden. There is a very small insect that bites people and it is not very painful, but the bite bite is very big and itchy. It has been itching for me for four or five days, so you must be prepared to prevent mosquito bites.
Cat Street and Shapowei are both very close and you can visit them together. Cat Street is a small street that has become popular in the past two years. It has added a lot of cat elements to the street. The Cat Museum is also a place to buy products related to cats. There are a few cats in it, and you can spend money in it to rub cats for a while. The street is very short and it takes a few minutes to walk. If you don't like to shop for cats 'small items, you will be walking quickly.
After walking Mao Street, we arrived at Shapowei. We went to Shapowei West District, also known as the Art West District. Shapowei used to be a very famous place, but later it was commercialized, and there were no fishing boats or anything else. The artistic atmosphere became weaker, and fewer people went there. Now it also seems a bit depressed. The only place that is still lively is the Art West District. Many beautiful young ladies went there deliberately. It was a very small place and there were not many shops. Many people sold handicrafts there. There are also some sculptures and the like for people to take photos. There are too many young people, so we can come out after walking around. I went to the famous shop named "Mangoes are Very Yellow" and I didn't see the big boy. It was just a little girl selling milk tea. I felt that the original characteristics were missing.
Huandao Road is a good place. You can ride a bicycle along the road in the evening. There are calligraphy squares, music squares, and beaches.
Along the way, you can go to Zengcuo 'an. Zengcuo' an is a place that sells various snacks. Various snack bars are mixed together, with many people, and the things they sell are similar. We went to drink Baopo Fairy Grass, which was very delicious. In fact, there are now eight mother-in-law fairy grass shops in many places, but in Zengcuo 'an, it is already a very conscientious shop for 8 yuan per cup. I tasted some of the rest, but it was not as delicious as I imagined, so I stopped mentioning it.
Xiamen Science and Technology Museum requires advance reservations. Children are 80 and adults are 100. Now we will open the main museum, Mammoth World, and Children's Museum. Our family is relatively big, so we didn't buy a Children's Museum. In fact, Mammoth World is also suitable for children. We went in and took a few photos and came out. The main museum is still relatively large and suitable for older children. Although the projects of the Science and Technology Museum are similar, children can always have a good time. We entered at 9 o'clock and stayed until 2 o'clock in the afternoon. My chest was so hungry that he came out reluctantly. The main science and technology museum is air-conditioned and is a great place to take care of children in summer.
Xiamen Line 1 subway, because of the Spirited Away complex, I couldn't help but take a ride when I heard about Xiamen's water subway. In fact, the water subway is only one stop away, and it is far from close to the water as expected. It's like crossing a bridge. It's still a good view.
Jimei School Village was founded by Mr. Chen Jiageng and is a general term for various schools and cultural institutions in Jimei. The most famous ones are Dragon Boat Pond and Nanxun Building. When you go to see it at night, it is very beautiful with the lights on. They are also buildings in Jiageng style. Jimei Xuecun has Jiageng Park to visit. Jiageng Park includes Ao Garden, Jiageng Former Residence, Guilai Garden, and Jiageng Memorial Hall. There is no charge and you can make a reservation directly. The Jiageng Memorial Hall is very big, and it's good to take children around it. It is very close to the terminal building from Jimei Xuecun, taking a little more than ten minutes.
In addition, Xiamen's currently very popular attractions include Volcanic Island, which is said to be a man-made place with pink castles and various things suitable for taking photos, satisfying the hearts of young girls.
Tulou and Yunshuiyao are mainly famous for the location where Dayu Begonia Tulou prototype and Yunshuiyao were filmed. However, these places are relatively far away. If you go, you have to prepare for a day. It is recommended to follow a local group for a one-day tour. We didn't go because we thought it was too far away.
Finally, let's talk about my general impression. Xiamen is very small and the tourist attractions are not large. Basically, one attraction can be completed in 1-2 hours. The transportation is very convenient, and we use all means of transportation in Xiamen for 5 days. Don't expect too much from what to eat. When you go to a place, you can just try the local specialty snacks, and it is impossible to surprise every snack; B & Bs are basically clean, and the lady owners are very enthusiastic; Those who like to swim must bring your swimsuit and go swimming on the beach every night.
