Budai opera (pronounced in southern Fujian: boo dei hi) is a traditional local drama that originated in the Quanzhou area of Zhangzhou, southern Fujian in the 17th century and used puppets to perform. The head of the puppet is a hollow human head carved out of wood. Except for the puppet head, puppet palms and puppet feet, the trunk and limbs of the puppet body are all made of cloth; during the performance, gloves are put into the puppet's costumes for puppet manipulation. It is precisely because the puppet bodies of this type of drama in the early days were very similar to "bags made of cloth" that it became known as puppet shows. In many early temple fairs to welcome the gods, puppet theater was one of the most commonly seen folk opera performances.

During the voyage, you can enjoy this performance, which has been included in the national intangible cultural heritage. Especially for foreign tourists, it is a good window to understand southern Fujian culture. A hearty performance of "Wu Song Fighting the Tiger" attracted bursts of cheers.

After watching puppet show, you can go up to the second floor, where various southern Fujian snacks are served. Xiamen is still a bit hot in September. Have a refreshing Siguo soup. Siguo Tang has a long history and is a very famous specialty snack in southern Fujian, Fujian. It is popular in Quanzhou and Zhangzhou. It has the effect of dispelling heat and cooling, so it is popular among people in summer. Every hot summer, at street stalls or time-honored shops, people always like to order a bowl of four-fruit soup at the right time to eliminate the sultry heat of the scorching summer. Feeling the sea breeze blowing Buddha on the boat and drinking a bowl of four-fruit soup is also very pleasant.

In addition to the four-fruit soup, I also saw the familiar "pancakes" here, also called spring rolls. Each package and roll make it delicious. Stewing the filling inside is the key. All vegetables must be cut thin enough and cooked enough to taste delicious. The skin must be thin and not broken to hold this good material.

Of course, in addition to delicious food and puppet shows, the most important thing to miss on board is the beautiful scenery on both sides of the Taiwan Strait.
