This trip began with the passage of Typhoon Likema, and the original departure on the morning of August 10 had to be delayed for a day and a half.

When I came to Xiamen in 2010, I chose to stay in a B & B on Gulangyu Island. At that time, Shangxia Island was still at the No. 1 Pier, and it was very convenient to visit Zhongshan Road, Xiamen University, Nanputuo, and Huandao Road. But I didn't expect that the island would only become popular at 10 o'clock, and the shops would slowly start to close at 17 o'clock. At 17:30 during the free time, I went to Riguang Rock, but there was not a single person, which was very creepy. When I came back in 2019, I found that the number of people in Gulangyu in the morning had exceeded 9000. The dock where foreigners visited the island also moved far away, so they simply stopped thinking about it. However, the Ruiyi Hotel I stayed at this time was also convenient for travel, and I really couldn't find time to think about the itinerary on the island after a few days.

DAY 1 -- Wanshi Botanical Garden, Zeng CuO an

Wanshi Botanical Garden ★★★

Botanical Garden Opening Hours: 6:30--18: 00
Main entrance: West Gate of Huyuan Road (including pedestrian passage and vehicle passage)
Other entrances: East Gate of Wenzeng Road, Yangtai Mountain Gate, Wanshou North Gate, Nanshan Gate, Wulaofeng Gate.
Special reminder: Other entrances are far away from the main scenic area, inconvenient transportation and long walking times (an average of one hour). In order to visit more conveniently and efficiently, tourists should use the west gate of Huyuan Road.
Rainforest World Fog Forest Opening Hours:
Every year, October 8-April 30, 9:00-11:00 14:00-16:00
Every year from May 1 to October 7 8:30-11:00 15:00-17:00

When you go to the Botanical Garden, you follow the plan and leave the two Internet celebrity rainforest areas (the entire rainforest area will be yours when you arrive at 8:30) and the Desert Plant Area. Internet celebrities have some reasons, but if the weather is cooler, it should be more interesting to visit all the remaining districts. We enter the West Gate and exit the West Gate. The online guide says that after climbing the mountain, you can enter Xiamen University without making an appointment, and I will try it next time.

Zeng Cuo 'an ★★★
Old local houses are rarely seen in Zengcuo 'an, but now they are mostly "petty bourgeois style" B & Bs and small shops. I have seen it a lot in the "Jiangnan Ancient Town" over the years, and it is not so new. (Maybe after night, the sound of the bar will sound like a different scene)
However, Xiamen does not give people the feeling that it is not very difficult to eat. Huang Zehe, Eighth Mother-in-law, and A-Xin's thick toast are all worthy of their reputation.
Abby tried bamboo shoot jelly for the first time here. She said it tasted thinner razor clams and liked it very much. My wife and I just stopped, thinking that the taste we had nine years ago in Xiaoyanzi was a lot better. But I didn't expect that I would have no stomach to eat a portion during the subsequent itinerary.

Tulou ★★★★ ④
Most of the time, busy check-in attractions like Tulou are not my first choice. What I dislike most when traveling is spending time on the road. However, I didn't visit Tulou when I went to Xiamen for the first time. It was a bit unreasonable to leave this traditional attraction alone this second time. My wife said that I would listen to you in everything, but it seemed like she still wanted to go to Tulou for a walk. Therefore, after consulting my colleagues back home in Nanjing, I decided to refine it and check in the "four dishes and one soup" of the famous Tulou Group-Tianluokeng Tulou Group. (However, after going there, I felt that I should check in Yun Shuiyao's card as well. The trip would be more cost-effective.)
Tulou can choose from self-driving (mostly one-way streets, requiring skilled overtaking skills), train (to Nanjing)+ bus, bus, chartered car, etc. When I was doing my homework before, I saw some chartered buses for 18 and 30 people. The content was similar and different, including group meals + checking in local buildings + going upstairs to take photos. But after deciding that we would only go to Tianluo Pit, we suddenly found a small group itinerary for 2-6 people (taking care of lunch). Super small groups pay attention to loose time, and there is no problem making a pot of tea even if they stop and go. Drivers and tour guides are also more talkative, so it doesn't matter if you nag a little. It was a pity that a heavy rain in the afternoon shortened the trip to Yuchang Tower and Taxia Village, so I finally felt a little regretful.

Tour guides and netizens recommended going to the Eighth Seafood Market to buy seafood and then finding a shop to process it. But after shopping around that day, several shops with a lot of good reviews closed their doors (they said they were due to inspections). This made us look at the rest of the shops that secretly handed in small business cards like black shops. Thinking that the three of us did not have any combat ability to respond, we simply withdrew early.
However, I still bought some salt-baked quail eggs, coconut greens, mini pineapples and so on in Bashi, which were very delicious. It can slightly offset the temptation of shrimp mushrooms to rejoice in your heart.

DAY 3 --Xiaodeng Island, Zhongshan Road

Xiaodeng Island ★★★★

Routes like Xiaodeng Island, which sound like niche but have dense products on major travel platforms, would not have become the choice of casual players like me in the past. In addition, chasing the sea on the beach doesn't sound like something that Abby, a neat freak, would try. However, when my wife saw it, she seemed very interested (I think it was caused by the shrimp mushrooms in the introduction), so she finally stuffed it into the one-day trip.
Thanks to the opening of the Tuoxiang 'an Cross-Harbour Tunnel, the original journey of nearly 2 hours can now be completed in just 50 minutes. Moreover, most of the families in Ganhai are parent-child, and the four pairs of families traveling together are particularly interesting. Let the boring moment of rushing overseas be relieved.
To be honest, it is quite a show to throw crab cages on Xiaodeng Island. Each family has one and stuffed dead fish into the sea to wait for the crabs to enter. Abby exerted great force, but the result was lost in the sea not far from her feet. The same is true for roundabout, most of which are for tourists to pass the time when the tide is low. Apart from a 500-year-old iron tree and several old ancestral temples, there is nothing to see on the island. The beach is similar to the edge of Jinshan. It is surrounded by a few merchants selling voluntary small commodities. However, there is a good old lady selling stone flower jelly beside the iron tree. Nowadays, it is rare to get a cup of ice cold desserts in scenic spots for only 3 yuan. The old lady was also interesting. She saw me swallow it in one gulp and gave it to me.
Speaking of rushing to the sea, this is quite interesting. There seems to be nothing on the tidal flats after low tide, but following the old fishermen to dig some stones in the puddles on the tidal flats, they often gain something from making trouble in the sea. This kind of thing that requires a little hard work to gain is really suitable for urban people to experience. Abby is in good shape, the best performance in a "dirty" place.
The group lunch on Xiaodeng Island was praised by everyone. In fact, small seafood itself is not expensive, but it is pleasant when paired with freshness. Abby likes the seaweed here very much, and I eat a lot of sea celery.

Xiaodeng Island DAY 4 --Chengyi Science and Technology Exploration Center, Jimei School Village

Chengyi Technology Exploration Center ★★★
While doing my homework, I have been preparing to go to the Xiamen Science and Technology Museum. However, the chartered car driver of Tulou and the local attendant of Xiaodeng Island both said that Jimei's Science and Technology Museum is good. This caused me to refund my ticket to the Science and Technology Museum twice during one trip (the first time was due to a typhoon). The hotel is very convenient to Chengyi Technology Exploration Center and Jimei School Village. Zhenhai Road Station, a 5-minute walk next to the hotel, is the starting station of the subway. You can reach your destination by sitting on the free subway for 40 minutes.
The impression of Chengyi Science and Technology Exploration Center is very complicated. Although there are promotional photos of the "Running Man" and support from tour guides. But being a science and technology museum is not enough (worse than the science and technology museums in Chongqing, Hong Kong, and Macau that I visited during my previous trip). Although there are many interactive, 5D and other devices, they are not scientific enough and organized. The whole thing is more like an electronic casino.

Jimei School Village ★★★★
On the contrary, Jimei School Village is worth visiting. Jimei Xuecun Station--Chinese School of Huaqiao University--Longzhou Chi--Jimei Middle School--Aoyuan--Chen Jiageng Memorial Hall--Chen Jiageng's Former Residence--Jimei Xuecun Station all belong to places with scenery and humanities.
