The summer heat gradually subsided, and the morning dew soaked the leaves outside the window. A few autumn rains have shattered the hustle and bustle of summer and gradually filled the air with a bit of coolness. For some reason, I want to go to Xiamen again.

This is the fourth time I have come to Xiamen. In the past few years, I have accompanied my mother and best friends here, but I didn't have a great time. There is no other way, either being dragged around to various food streets to eat and eat, or staying in a B & B in a daze.

Looking back, Xiamen, as a tourist destination for small and fresh travel for literature and art, I have not visited literary and art gathering places such as Gulangyu Island, Zengcuo 'an and Shapowei, nor have I been able to harvest a few sets of beautiful photos, let alone taste Xiamen food other than snacks on the food street.

DAY1 Arrives again through time and memories

Xiamen is a romantic island city. You don't have to spend too much thought to do various strategies when traveling here. The scenery here is very suitable for wandering aimlessly. Then choose one or two home-filled B & Bs and several authentic Minnan restaurants, so easy.

The terminal station we chose for the bullet train was Xiamen Station on the main island of Xiamen. Although there were more trains to North Railway Station, we were really too lazy to bother with big and small bags.

Leaving the station happened to be lunch time. On the question of feeding your stomach first or checking in to the hotel first, they unanimously voted for the former.

After searching for a long time, I had difficulty making choices again. Seeing that lunch was about to turn into afternoon tea, fortunately, a local friend in Xiamen recommended a time-honored restaurant next to the train station: Weiyou.

Sitting in the private room, the window saw the rows of high-rise buildings in the railway station business district.

I have heard about the reputation of this place when I visited Xiamen several times before, but I always come and go in a hurry to meet you. It just happens that there are so many people here that I can try a few more signature dishes.

I think that "taste friends" are to Xiamen what "knowledge of taste" is to Hangzhou. When it comes to "taste friends", Xiamen people will definitely not be unfamiliar. This restaurant was first established off the island and has been rooted in Xiamen for more than 20 years. It is one of the most authentic time-honored restaurants in the region, with many titles such as "Famous Chinese Restaurant" and "Top Ten Famous Fujian Cuisine Restaurants in China".

Opening the menu, it is full of the familiar flavor of old Xiamen.

The hotel's decoration is in southern Fujian style, with a very wide dining space, and many private rooms, where you can order your food on the seafood pool at the entrance.


It is said that one of the most famous specialties in southern Fujian is "Bamboo Shoots Jelly", paired with delicious Q-bombs, white-boiled Hong Kong octopus.

If one of Xiamen's most famous snacks, apart from Shacha noodles, it would probably be frozen bamboo shoots in the dark cuisine world. I've seen them before but I didn't dare to try them. This time, more people couldn't finish them, so I boldly ordered one.

Soil bamboo shoots are not bamboo shoots that grow in the soil, but a kind of creature called "Delicious Sipularis" that grows on tidal flats. They are also known as sea grasshoppers. They have the therapeutic effects of nourishing yin, tonifying kidney, and removing fire. They are known as "Cordyceps on the land, and Starworms in the sea." It is said that bamboo shoot jelly is a delicacy invented by Zheng Chenggong.

The feeling at the entrance is tender and crisp, with a hint of coolness flowing down the throat. Dip it with a special dipping sauce and make people can't stop. Sure enough, it is not unreasonable that it has been popular in southern Fujian for hundreds of years.

Xiamen Tuzhu Soup is the predecessor of Tuzhu Jelly. Zheng Chenggong invented Tuzhu Jelly on the basis of Tuzhu Soup.

The Cantonese next door claims that everything can make soup, but the Fujian people are not willing to be outdone. They open a thick recipe book and dazzled me by the dazzling array of soups.

In Xiamen, where literature and art are small and fresh, B & B is one of the most romantic and refreshing elements here. We booked in advance a B & B located in Zengcuo 'an, a gathering place for literature and art in Xiamen: Xinhu? Yue Space.

Two steps away from the door is the lively night market. Various food and cultural shops shine under the night, exuding their own fragrance or breath.

Zengcuo 'an is relatively quiet during the day. It avoids the crowds on the main street and winds around the long and winding alleys. You can accidentally encounter a super beautiful B & B or art shop.

At night, Zengcuo 'an is full of fireworks, and the aroma of various delicious snacks flows on the tip of your nose. You can let your sense of smell replace your vision, move your own pace, and take you to the place you want to go most in your heart.

The method of sealing meat in Tong 'an is very complicated. Wrap the whole piece of meat in three layers inside and outside, and then place it in a basin and stewed it thoroughly before it can be lifted on the table, so it is called "sealing meat". After thousands of years, this dish has become one of the most distinctive dishes in southern Fujian. People who celebrate weddings and move to new homes will always add color to this dish. Many old Taiwanese compatriots and overseas Chinese have also brought this unique cooking method to Taiwan and overseas, making Tong 'an Feng meat on holidays, and using a bowl of deep memories to express their homesickness.

Zengcuo 'an was quiet in the early morning. The shops along the street had not yet opened, and there were no pedestrians and tourists coming and going on the street. Only the sun and wandering wind accompanied me through this long, smoky alley.

Inadvertently, you will encounter a pure beauty. Maybe it is a piece of graffiti on the street, maybe it is a B & B on the roadside, maybe it is the wind blowing in your face, maybe it is just a gentle smiling face, which will make you feel happy.

Xiamen Botanical Garden is a rainforest fairyland scattered around the world
