Speaking of the famous attractions in Xi'an, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda definitely ranks among the names. The Big Wild Goose Pagoda in Daci 'en Temple is on the same footing as scenic spots as the Bell Tower, Terracotta Warriors and Terracotta Warriors, and has also formed a series of scenic spots such as the North Square Fountain radiating from the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, the Tang Dynasty Never Sleepless City, and the Tang Daci' en Temple Ruins Park. Therefore, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda has naturally become a must-check-in place for tourists and a leisure place for Xi'an citizens after tea and meals.
As we all know, Shaanxi has the famous "Eight Scenes in Guanzhong", which have been praised by people throughout the ages. Among them, the morning bell of the Wild Goose Pagoda is the most famous. However, many people have a misunderstanding that the "Wild Goose Pagoda" in the morning bell of the Wild Goose Pagoda refers to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. In fact, the "Wild Goose Pagoda Morning Bell" refers to the small Wild Goose Pagoda about 4,000 meters away from the Big Wild Goose Pagoda.
The legendary Wild Goose Pagoda has been circulating for thousands of years, and the bell has been passed down to thousands of families for a long time
The Little Wild Goose Pagoda is also known as the "Jianfu Temple Pagoda". Although it has not been as famous as the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, there are still many stories and legends circulating. The more famous one is that this wild goose Pagoda cracked after several earthquakes. In the 23rd year of the Ming Dynasty, the Little Wild Goose Pagoda cracked a wide crack due to the earthquake, but it closed again in an earthquake in 1521. It has experienced vicissitudes for thousands of years, but it still stands tall. In Jianfu Temple where the Little Wild Goose Pagoda is located, there is a bell about four meters high. The actual weight is more than 5 tons and the bell mouth has a radius of at least one meter. This is the "bell" in the "Wild Goose Pagoda Morning Bell". The most amazing thing about this bell is that there is a look at the well water directly below the bell. When the bell is ringing, the more water will overflow from the well. It is said that this is because the sound of the bell will drive the air to flow and sound waves reach the bottom of the well, causing clear water to overflow.
The eight scenic spots in Guanzhong come from the Little Wild Goose Pagoda, and the big and small Wild Goose Pagoda complement each other
Both the Da and Xiao Wild Goose Pagoda were built during the Tang Dynasty. The Xiao Wild Goose Pagoda was built to store the scriptures retrieved by Master Yijing from India. During the prosperous Tang Dynasty, the bells in the two temples sounded at the same time every morning, echoing each other from afar. In the Qing Dynasty, the city outside the Tang city wall shrank and gradually withered. At this time, the vicinity of Dacien Temple had become a wilderness and gradually disappeared from people's view. Since Jianfu Temple was not abandoned inside the city wall, the bells in the temple were crisp and melodious, day after day, covering dozens of miles of the ancient city. Every household listened to the bells in Jianfu Temple every day as a "clock" for daily life and work. Compared with the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, the Natural Little Wild Goose Pagoda is more prestigious and known as the "Morning Bell of Wild Goose Pagoda". Due to the loss of the top two floors, the Little Wild Goose Pagoda currently has only thirteen floors and a height of 44 meters. The whole building is thick and restrained, stretching upward on the ground like a mushroom after rain. During the Qing Dynasty, people in the city would write the names of people they missed on yellow paper and stick them on the bell. They believed that the bell would carry this longing thousands of miles away.
Nowadays, against the backdrop of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, the Little Wild Goose Pagoda seems to be much dimmer, but Jianfu Temple has a unique flavor with its quiet and solemn atmosphere. The Little Wild Goose Pagoda is also like a monument recording the past here. The two wild goose pagodas, one large and one small, are a continuation of the cultural context of this ancient city. Through these cultural relics and buildings, we seem to be able to see the prosperous Tang Dynasty of the past. Even if a dynasty disappears, this city will not.
