Xi'an people are no strangers to "tableland", which refers to a loess highland with a platform shape at the top. There are several famous "tableland" in Xi'an. Because of the novels written by well-known writer Chen Zhongshi,"Bailu Tableland" is famous across the country. The Tang Dynasty palace Daming Palace was built on the "Longshou Plateau". But in fact, it is another "Shaoling Plateau" that is closely related to more allusions and celebrities. This tableland is a truly historical "famous tableland". Since the Han and Tang Dynasties, several temples and imperial tombs have been built here, and countless emperors, generals and historical celebrities are associated with them.

Tang Ta Han Zhong Zhu Da Quan

Shaoling Plateau is located in the south of Xi'an, connecting Chang' an to the north and Zhongnan to the south. Because the Du Ling of Emperor Xuan of the Western Han Dynasty is here, it is called Du Ling Yuan. The tomb of Empress Xu of Emperor Xuan of the Han Dynasty is in the south of Duling. Due to the small size of the tomb, Duling Yuan is also called Shaoling Yuan. Du Fu, the great poet of the Tang Dynasty, called himself "Shaoling Lao Ye" because he had lived in Fanchuan, Shaoling for eleven years. The Du Gong Temple was built in Shaoling Plateau in the Ming Dynasty to commemorate this great poet. Therefore, many people know Shaoling Yuan because of the poet saint.

In addition to the poet saint, the "Tang Tower and Han Tomb and Zhu Da Circle" on the Shaoling Plateau are all surprisingly famous. During the Tang Dynasty, monks gathered in the Fanchuan area of Shaoling, and eight major temples in Fanchuan were built in this area, including Xingjiao Temple, Huayan Temple, Niutou Temple, Fazhuang Temple, and other temples. The "Tang Tower" in "Tang Tower Hanzhong Zhu Da Circle" refers to these temples and the spiritual towers among them.

The name Shaoling Plateau comes from Emperor Xuan of the Han Dynasty Liu Xun and Empress Xu, so "Han Tomb" refers to the Du Ling of Emperor Xuan of the Han Dynasty and his burial tomb. There are many tombs buried with Duling, and more than a hundred have been sealed with earth. Among them, officials of the royal family such as Empress Xu Pingjun of Gongai, Prime Minister Bingji, and General Zhang Anshi of the Great Sima of the Great War of Chariots. In addition, the Zhangsun family tomb of Empress Zhangsun of the Tang Dynasty, the Guo family tomb of Guo Ziyi, the Du family tomb of Du Mu, and the tombs of famous patriotic generals Yang Hucheng and Zhu Ziqiao in modern times are all in Shaoling Plateau.

Beijing has the Ming Tombs, and there is also a "Little Ming Tombs" on the Shaoling Plateau. Chang 'an was the fief of the Ming Dynasty vassal kings and Qin. A total of thirteen vassal kings were buried on Shaoling Plateau. Their mausoleum is not large in scale, but its organizational structure is similar to the Imperial Mausoleum in Beijing, forming a large circle, which is called "Zhu Da Huan" by Xi'an. There are six existing tombs of thirteen vassal kings. It is said that most of the stone horses and stone sheep unearthed in Xi'an came from here.

Nanyuan legacy love

Among the many historical stories behind Shaoling Plateau, the most touching one should be the sad and beautiful love between Emperor Xuan of the Han Dynasty and Empress Xu Pingjun. Xu Pingjun and Liu Xun, Emperor Xuan of the Han Dynasty, met in Ye Ting. After Liu Xun ascended the throne, he did not forget that his wife made Xu Pingjun queen. However, due to the weak power of the emperor, many things had to rely on General Huo Guang, who assisted him to rise, which made the Huo Guang family extremely arrogant. Huo Guangzhi's wife wanted her daughter to become queen, but actually used a trick to poison Xu Pingjun. After Xu Pingjun's death, Emperor Xuan was very guilty and saddened. He posthumously posthumously named her "Empress Gong Ai" and buried her in Duling South Garden. This is the famous allusion of "Nanyuan Legacy Love".

Now standing on the Shaoling Plateau, the grass is luxuriant and my thoughts are leisurely. The tombs, large and small, seem to tell a desolate and sad history, which makes people feel filled with emotion. For thousands of years, the scenery of Duling has remained the same as before, but things have changed, and history has disappeared with the wind. The newly built Duling Ruins Park and other scenic spots have beautiful scenery and have become a new highlight in the south of Xi'an.
