Shaanxi was a province with large tourism resources in the past. According to its topography and topography, Shaanxi can be divided into loess high slopes in northern Shaanxi, Qinling Mountains in southern Shaanxi, and Weihe Plain in Guanzhong. The ancient Guanzhong Plain was rich in water and soil, surrounded by mountains on three sides. It was easy to defend but difficult to attack, and became a battleground for military strategists. Today, I would like to introduce you to an attraction that few people know about. Guangren Temple, the only Tibetan Buddhist temple in Shaanxi Province, a national 3A-level scenic spot.

Guangren Temple has a history of more than 300 years and was built on the order of Emperor Kangxi. It is located at the northwest corner of Xi'an City Wall. Speaking of the history of Guangren Temple, we can start from the forty-second year of Kangxi (1703). In order to consolidate the regime in the northwest, the Manchu Empire planned to use Shaanxi as its military headquarters to manage the northwest. When Kangxi traveled to Xi'an, he ordered the construction of a temple named Guangren Temple, which meant to spread benevolence. Guangren Temple will also become the residence of the Kangzang Lama in Beijing. In the Qing Dynasty, Guangren Temple had a fertile field with many monks. Guangren Temple is not only a lama temple, but also a cultural symbol of the Qing government's unification of the northwest Kangzang region. Although Guangren Temple was destroyed countless times in the future, it was still strong enough to survive, and its historical role also prevented people from forgetting it.

Guangren Temple faces north to south and has a unique architectural layout. The overall shape is like Wolong, which is very rare among many temple buildings. Generally speaking, temple buildings are exquisite, and the overall height will gradually increase from the front door to the back hall, forming a trend of low front and high back. On the contrary, Guangren Temple gradually decreases from the front to the back, forming a trend of high in the front and low in the back. The more than 300 buildings in Guangren Temple cover an area of 20 acres. They have a strict layout, a clear central axis, and symmetrical left and right rooms. The main building is arranged in a zigzag shape along the central axis, with side halls, wing rooms and cross courtyards on both sides. It is a lama temple with temple architectural characteristics in Han areas.

Now Guangren Temple is not only a national-level scenic spot, but also regarded as a symbol of national unity. Since 2019, Guangren Temple has been open to the public for free, making it a very attractive tourist attraction. Guangren Temple is one of the only two statues of a twelve-year-old Buddha in the world, as well as the largest Daqian Hand Guanyin in Shaanxi and the only high-quality Thousand Buddha Hall in China. This is also the place where Chang 'an worships Princess Wencheng. When you come to Guangren Temple, you can feel the unique cultural atmosphere.

Guangren Temple is also called by many people "the most charitable temple in Xi'an" because Guangren Temple provides free vegetarian food to the lonely elderly and vagrants in Xi'an every day. In order to give diners dignity, under the initiative of Master Renqin, chairman of Guangren Temple, Guangren Temple Charity Association funded and rented three facade rooms outside the temple for diners to use. Volunteers who come to work here are also free and unpaid. This is not possible in many temples today.
