Chang 'an, a prosperous age, is a bright color in the hearts of every Chinese. Because of this plot, Xi'an has become one of the dream list destinations that many people never forget about. In recent years, Xi'an has once again become popular in small videos and TV series. It has become a popular city on the Internet. This thousand-year-old capital, while preserving its history, is also striding forward. From the ancient city walls to the snack shops in the market, from the Big Wild Goose Pagoda to the City that Never Sleeps in the Tang Dynasty, it is always vivid.

This time I came to Xi'an and rode through the streets with a local friend in Xi'an.

Since my Xi'an friend is a real eater, and I am interested in history and culture, this trip has become a MIX journey of Xi'an food + ancient capital customs. It should be the one with the most food photos in all my travel notes. Photo, I almost drool when organizing the pictures. Hahaha.

Eat, you can't eat enough Hui Street

It is nearly noon when we arrive in Xi'an, so let's go to Hui Street for a big meal first!
Huimin Street is a gathering area for the Hui people in Xi'an. It consists of multiple roads. Locals also call it "Huifang". Because it gathers almost all the delicious food in Xi'an, it is a must-see place for first time in Xi'an.

Huimin Street occupies the best area in Xi'an, just behind the Drum Tower. There are several parking lots nearby, but there are a lot of people and cars, so you must pay attention to safety.

As soon as you walk into Huimin Street, you are overwhelmed by the bustling crowd. There are a dazzling array of snack shops on both sides of the street. You can experience the profound cultural heritage here while eating delicious food. Nearly 300 kinds of specialty snacks such as roujiamo, Southeast Asian rice cake, paomo, and cold rice noodles can be tasted on Huimin Street. However, to be honest, the food on the main street generally tastes a little worse. You can buy some snacks on the main street. If you really want to eat, it is recommended to go to Xiyang City or Dapiyuan, where there will be a little fewer people.

You can watch and taste various snacks for live performances without buying them. It is very interesting.

When you come to Xi'an, you usually have to taste a bowl of mutton and steamed buns. This is the most famous snack in Xi'an. The meat is rotten and the soup is thick. After eating it, it has endless aftertaste and is a favorite of Xi'an people.

This kind of door with many persimmons hanging on Huimin Street is often seen. It is a shop selling Huanggui persimmon cakes. Huanggui persimmon cakes are a special Xi'an snack made from persimmon and flour.

I bought two flavors and ate them while walking ~

Salt and pepper walnuts are the most authentic in Hui Street! It mainly uses thin-skinned walnuts produced in Xinjiang and local unique halal seasonings. Those who like nuts and dried fruits must weigh a few kilograms back.

The city flower in Xi'an is pomegranate. Pomegranate is of course a major scenery on Hui Street. It is all this plump red and black pomegranate. You can buy one and eat it or buy a cup of pomegranate juice.

My friend specially asked me to find this mirror cake to eat. It is a special snack. It is made by steaming glutinous rice flour into a cage with a diameter of about six centimeters. It can be steamed in a few minutes.

If you think there are too many people on Hui Street, you can turn to the trail. Xiyang City, Dapiyuan, and Miaohou Street are all connected together. More authentic food can be found in these neighborhoods, and many locals will come to these places to eat and buy ingredients.

This aunt's pastry stall is located in a corner of Xiyang City. Although the stall is small, it has been here for 20 years and has been on CCTV ~~

After eating all kinds of snacks along the way, it was finally time to have serious lunch. We chose Dapiyuan, an old store that has been open for more than 20 years. The small store is always crowded. The small crispy meat is fried with beef tenderloin first and then steamed to be specially served with rice!

This cured beef and mutton shop is a very old shop. Locals buy meat here. I heard that during the Spring Festival, they will queue up with the elders.

Secret realm beside the city wall: Guangren Temple

After eating and drinking, go to the direction of the city wall! In fact, our destination is not particularly clear, just to follow our children along the city wall. This is already a very happy thing.
This magical temple-Guangren Temple was discovered under the city wall. It is the only Tibetan Buddhist temple in Shaanxi Province. It was built in 1703 by Emperor Kangxi, the saint ancestor of the Qing Dynasty. Historically, it has played a role in uniting and promoting multi-ethnic unity in the northwest border.

The temple is full of incense, and the golden candlesticks record the piety of good men and women. They can be admired for a long time if they flash.

There is also an obao hidden in the corner of the temple. The obao is generally used to worship gods and pray for a harvest and a symbol of family happiness and safety. This obao is more gorgeous than the roadside obao I saw in Inner Mongolia and Qinghai. It is very beautiful.

It is worth mentioning that the toilets in Guangren Temple are the highest-end public toilets I have seen during my travels over the years! There are paper towels that provide public charging devices and facial recognition inside. Even the sink is made of fairy golden lotus leaves, and what flows out is still warm water. It's amazing.

Integration of culture and market: Forest of Steles Museum

Continuing along the city wall, you can see a wall with the huge "Confucian Temple" written on it. This is the Forest of Steles Museum. It is the earliest museum established in Shaanxi. It is an art museum that collects, studies and displays ancient steles, epitaph and stone carvings.

In addition to the museum itself, the street at the entrance has become a gathering place for literature, art and entertainment. There are many stalls selling fans, seal carving, calligraphy and painting. We also saw a young handsome guy painting a fan seriously, attracting many people to watch. People who like this kind of thing can have a good stroll, and the cultural atmosphere is particularly good.

Xi'an City Wall washed by vicissitudes of history

After walking around the foot of the city wall for a few times, we finally have to climb the city wall in person!
The city of Xi'an is the wall of the Ming Dynasty, with a total length of 13.7 kilometers. It was built in the third year of Hongwu of the Ming Dynasty (1370). It is the largest and most completely preserved ancient city wall in China. The city wall can be climbed up from various gates, but the most popular one among tourists is Yongning Gate at the South Gate.

At that time, Zhu Yuanzhang personally visited Zhu Sheng, a bachelor's degree. Zhu Sheng gave the nine-character and three-lesson of "building high walls, accumulating grain extensively, and slowly becoming king." Zhu Yuanzhang adopted these suggestions and later proposed that "the mountains and rivers in the world are the only ones in Qin Dynasty that are dangerous and solid." Under this strategy, Xi'an City Wall was rebuilt based on the imperial cities of the Sui and Tang Dynasties. There are four main gates in the city wall: Changle Gate, Yongning Gate, Anding Gate, and Anyuan Gate. Since the Republic of China, dozens of new gates have been opened to facilitate access to the Ancient City. Now there are 18 gates in the Xi'an City Wall.

Check-in and enter the south gate, through which you can see the bell tower from afar.

There is such an electronic screen at the entrance of the city wall to record the number of tourists visiting.

Nowadays, lanterns with a very simple temperament are hung on the towers, which will light up after dark. Since we were still two hours away from dark, we gave up waiting for the lights to turn on. There will be large-scale performances on the tower during holidays. The pictures are very beautiful and it really feels like the prosperous Tang Dynasty. I will find an opportunity to come to Xi'an around the Lantern Festival in the future!

Tourists can choose to take a stroll on the city wall, or they can choose to ride a bicycle around the city gate. The road on the city gate is not smooth, so you should pay attention to safety when cycling. There are still a lot of tourists in the afternoon. When taking pictures, you can try to take pictures outside the city wall or from the side.

Walk on the city wall to blow in the wind and see the changing scenery on both sides. Even if you just walk, you will feel full of history. It is a good place to think about life.

When I came down from the city wall, it was already mealtime. I found a Shaanxi restaurant and still had to queue up, but I still lined up without hesitation in order to try the food ~

The first is Xi'an's famous biángbiáng noodles. This is a word that cannot be typed by the input method. You must try it when you come to Xi'an!
There are other names for biángbiáng noodles that people in Shaanxi often call trouser belt noodles.

It's this kind of wide face!

Next, this is the crisp brush that was very popular in a certain tone a while ago. Naturally, I have to try it out. It looks like a brush, but the tip of the pen is actually edible, and the ink is also edible jam. The taste is actually a bit ordinary, but it's about fun.

The night in Chang 'an is long, walking through the night sky in Xi'an

After dinner, the sky got dark, and the ancient buildings in the Laocheng District slowly turned on their lights. Let's go for a stroll around the Bell and Drum Tower and see them behind the lights.

I stopped by and took a look at the Forest of Steles Museum at night. The big red door was closed, which seemed to be a mysterious door to history.

The South Gate I visited during the day has a more Chang 'an style at night. Now the square in front of the south gate is already the commercial center of Xi'an, and shopping malls such as SKP can be found there. You can imagine that when you shop from the most prosperous and modern square, you can see the Chang' an Gate 700 years ago. Xi'an is really a very magical and transformative city.

Xuanzang Returns--Big Wild Goose Pagoda

In the early morning in Xi'an, it is necessary to have a local specialty breakfast! My friends recommended beef patties and spicy soup to me. The beef patties have crispy outer skins and very firm meat inside.

Another star breakfast in Xi'an is spicy soup, which is made with beef bones and onions and ginger cooking wine. It is thickened with potato flour. It is very thick and full, so it is also called "spicy soup". After eating this large breakfast, you can definitely fill your fill.

Today we are moving from the ancient city area to Qujiang District. The most representative part of Qujiang is the Big Wild Goose Pagoda! The Big Wild Goose Pagoda was built personally by Master Xuanzang. Although it has gone through thousands of years of vicissitudes, it is still intact.

On the square just south of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, there is a statue of Xuanzang. He faces the Tang Dynasty Sleepless City. This large area is now the most prosperous tourist area in Qujiang.

If you are tired of shopping in the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, you can blow on the air conditioner for dinner in Qujiang Joy City next to you. You can also watch this Internet celebrity Wukong. Some people joked that Tang Priest is exposed to the wind and sun outside, but his eldest apprentice is blowing air conditioning in the mall. Hahahaha It's so interesting to think about it.

There is a particularly recommended snack nearby-Shanshisan's Ice Cream. This is a brand that originated in Xi'an. It has a variety of pastries and souvenirs, as well as very interesting ice cream. The key points are the flavor of sesame paste cold skin and Huifang salty egg yolk. This is definitely something only Xi'an can eat!

Dream of returning to the prosperous age--Tang Furong Garden

If you want to experience the most exciting scenery of the Tang Dynasty, you must not miss the Tang Furong Garden. It has the largest imitation Tang building complex in the country. In particular, you must not miss the bright night view, the brightly lit Tang Cultural Corridor, Fanglin Garden, Ziyun Building and other places, as well as the world's largest water curtain film performance.
Although they are all pavilions built in the modern era, in the blurred night, there is really a feeling of traveling back to the Tang Dynasty in a second.

There are many shallow pools, large and small, in the Tang Dynasty Furong Garden. I recommend that you use these pools to take reflections and capture the extremely glorious Tang night.

In order to match this place, I specially put on a dress in the Han and Tang style to shine with the Tang Dynasty Furong Garden.

From the long ancient city walls to the gorgeous Furong Garden night, Xi'an is really a city that is developing rapidly while maintaining its classical style. In addition to a little traffic jam, the entire travel experience is particularly good. Another point is that Xi'an has too many delicious foods. After only two days, there is already a trend of weight gain. The whole trip was full of surprises, and I hope I can drive him to more places in the future!
