When traveling to Xi'an, you must not miss the Huaqing Palace in Lintong. Together with the Summer Palace, Yuanmingyuan, and Chengde Summer Resort, it is known as China's four major royal gardens.
In ancient times, Nuwa left the myth of mending the sky in the Old Mother Palace on Mount Li.
In the Shang Dynasty, King You of Zhou left a history of "beacon fires playing vassals" here in order to make Baosi laugh.
In the Tang Dynasty, Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty and Yang Guifei left a ten-year love story here.
In modern times, patriotic generals Zhang Xueliang and Yang Hucheng raised the banner of "military remonstrance" here, leaving behind the "Xi'an Incident" that shocked China and foreign countries.
In addition to its rich historical heritage, Huaqing Palace also has as many as 80 attractions. The royal gardens with strong Tang style, the majestic scenery of Mount Li, the museums with high-tech interactive experiences, and the real-life performances with shocking visual effects... Wherever you look, you change the scenery, like a gorgeous Tang style painting. How can I enjoy Huaqing Palace and experience the most in-depth Tang Palace culture? This article will tell you the most complete way to play Huaqing Palace in history.

What does Huaqing Palace play?

--Visit the three major museums

Tang Yutang Ruins Museum In the second episode of "Chang 'an Twelve Hours", Li Mi mentioned that the saint lived in the "Hot Spring Palace". This "Hot Spring Palace" is Huaqing Palace. Lishan Hot Spring was formed 2 to 3 million years ago and is known as the world's number one imperial spring. It has a history of using royal hot springs for 6000 years. Emperors such as the Zhou, Qin, Tang and other dynasties built Li Palace Garden here. In the Tang Yutang Ruins Museum, you can see five soup pond ruins, namely, the Begonia Soup of Imperial Consort Yang, the Lotus Soup of Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty, the Star Soup of Emperor Taizong, the Prince Soup of the Prince Bathed by the Princes, and the Shangshi Soup for the meal ministers.

The most interesting thing is of course the Begonia soup that Imperial Concubine Yang takes a bath. It is a love gift from Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty to Imperial Concubine Yang. It is also known as the Imperial Concubine Pond. It looks like a blooming Begonia flower from a glance. Concubine Yang has been bathing here for many spring and autumn years. Although the fragrance has disappeared and the jade has passed away now, the ruins of the Tangchi made of ink and jade remind people of Bai Juyi's description in the Song of Eternal Regret: "Spring cold gives you a bath in Huaqing Pool, hot spring water, water, and cream."

The exclusive "Lotus Soup" of Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty is also known as the "Imperial Soup Nine Dragons Hall" and is very imposing. It is said that this place originally had a double lotus base, symbolizing the Tang Xuanzong and Imperial Concubine Yang's "forever being a lotus" and "willing to make a joint branch in the local area."

The largest of the five soup ponds is the Star Soup bathed by Emperor Taizong Li Shimin. The plan shape imitates the "Big Dipper" and is divided into "Douchi" and "Kuichi". Next to it is the ruins of the bedroom hall where he can rest after bathing. This is a treasure place of Feng Shui in Huaqing Palace, so at the bottom of Xingchen Tang, the ruins of the "Lishan Tang" of Qin Shi Huang and the "Han Li Palace" of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty were also found. On display in the surrounding glass cabinets are some of the building materials unearthed at that time.

In the Tangchi ruins, you can also see the hot spring water source of Huaqing Palace. The water inside is really pure. It is said that the water temperature here remains at around 43 ° C all year round. It is rich in various minerals and should be very beneficial to the human body. If time permits, it is also a kind of enjoyment to soak in soup here and experience the treatment of an imperial concubine.

Tips:
The Yutang Site has the most people during the day, and visiting it as soon as the park opens in the morning can relatively avoid the crowd.

treasure Hall
The Treasure Museum displays 107 precious historical relics from the Huaqing Palace, ranging from ancient stone tools to Chiang Kai-shek's instructions, spanning thousands of years. The second floor is the Xi'an Incident Memorial Hall. You can see many precious historical materials and have a better understanding of the history of the War of Resistance that took place in Huaqing Palace.

Tang Huaqing Palace Liyuan Site Museum is my favorite museum in Huaqing Palace. This is the only Tang Dynasty Liyuan site unearthed in China. It was discovered in 1995. Liyuan disciples also have soup ponds here.

As we all know, Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty not only had the talent of an emperor, but also was very proficient in music. He not only created the famous "Kaiyuan Prosperity", but also improved music institutions and created Liyuan. It was the first Royal Academy of Music and Drama in my country's history and cultivated a large number of musical talents, so the art of song and dance in the Tang Dynasty was very prosperous. There were four pear gardens in the Tang Dynasty, and the one in Huaqing Palace was called the "Suijia Pear Garden". Tang Xuanzong and Yang Guifei wrote music and rehearsed dances together here, and performed many classic music and dance masterpieces. "The heights of the Li Palace enter the blue clouds, and the wind of fairy music can be heard everywhere." This is what we are talking about.

This museum was built on the basis of the Liyuan ruins of Huaqing Palace. It takes the Dream Seeking Pear Garden as its theme and is divided into three parts: Shengshi Huazhang, Liyuan Dream Seeking, and Liyuan Ancestral Court. The design of the space is very flexible, and the display method of cultural relics is also very novel. Many technological means are used to restore the style of the pear garden, and interactive experiences are also designed, which is very interesting. In this dreamy space, you can fully experience the charm of Tang Dynasty music and dance art and experience the profound and profound Tang Dynasty culture.

Visit Liangtang Fenghu District

Jiulong Lake + Flying Frost Hall

Compared with the magnificent and gorgeous Jiulong Lake, Furong Lake, which reflects the flowers and leaves, looks more graceful and beautiful. After all, this is the place where Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty and Imperial Concubine Yang made an agreement on the "Qixi Oath", the Hall of Longevity.

Changsheng Hall is also a place with great historical heritage. Its original name was Jilingtai and was built by Liu Che of the Han Dynasty. Because Qin Shihuang burned books and buried scholars in the southwest of Lintong, Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty lamented the dead and built a spiritual gathering platform here. However, Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty believed that although the physical body of the ancient Confucian scholars had disappeared, the spirit remained forever, so he changed his name to the "Changsheng Hall."

Changsheng Hall is also a place with great historical heritage. Its original name was Jilingtai and was built by Liu Che of the Han Dynasty. However, Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty believed that although the physical body of the ancient Confucian scholars had disappeared, the spirit remained forever, so he changed his name to the "Changsheng Hall."

The Temple of Changsheng was originally the place where the emperor bathe while worshipping the fasting, but on the night of the tenth year of Tianbao, Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty and Imperial Concubine Yang knelt at the gate of the Temple of Changsheng and vowed to be husband and wife forever for life. This is the poem described in Bai Juyi's "Song of Eternal Regret":"July 7th in the Temple of Longevity, when no one is whispering in the middle of the night. In heaven, I wish to be a bird with wings, and on earth, I wish to be a connecting branch."

This is probably the most beautiful area in Huaqing Palace. Walking through the curved bridge with seven twists and turns, you can not help but imagine the magnificent figure of the Changsheng Hall.

Watch two amazing shows

Large-scale real-life historical dance drama "Song of Eternal Sorrow"

The beauty of Huaqing Palace is not only the beauty of scenery and architecture, but also the large-scale live-action dance drama "Song of Eternal Sorrow" that debuts at the finale. The mountains serve as the curtain and the water serves as the stage. Only in Huaqing Palace can the love story between Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty and Imperial Consort Yang be truly restored.

The dance drama "Song of Eternal Regret" is inspired by Bai Juyi's long narrative poem of the same name. It uses modern dance drama and various high-tech sound, light and shadow arts to show the lingering love story between Emperor Xuanzong and Yang Guifei. In front of the landscape curtain of Huaqing Palace, this unprecedentedly gorgeous performance was so immersive.

Concubine Yang who came on the waves on Jiulong Lake, the figure of a maid under the clear spring and mist, the scene of unprecedented prosperity, and the war-torn Anshi Rebellion... including the parade of the emperor's concubine, the jade ring entering the palace, the imperial concubine taking a bath, the drunkenness of the imperial concubine, the Anshi Rebellion, the Mawei Mutiny, the Qixi Oath, the death of the imperial concubine, and the reunion in a Wonderland, each scene makes it impossible to remove one's attention. At the foot of Mount Li, by the Huaqing Pool, the sad and beautiful love that took place in the Tang Dynasty slowly unfolded through time.

The most shocking thing is the projection on Mount Li, which is said to be the largest mountain projection in Asia. It appears in the key plot of the plot every time. It is shrouded in clouds, stars in the sky, and a bright moon in the sky, which is like a dream, which makes us exclaim constantly. Always listen to people talk about it and don't watch the song of everlasting regret, so Xi'an's visit will be in vain. After reading it, you will find that there is no exaggeration.

? Tips:
? Performance venue: In front of Jiulong Lake

? Ticket price: Depending on the seating area, the ticket price ranges from 238 to 988 yuan.

? Performance time: end of March-end of October
The first game 20:10-21:20
Second game 21:40-22:50

"December 12" Xi'an Incident
Large-scale real-life photography Although Huaqing Palace is most famous for its love story between Emperor Xuanzong and Yang Guifei, in fact, the Xi'an Incident that shocked China and foreign countries took place here. When you come here, you must watch a large-scale real-life video of the "December 12" Xi'an Incident to restore history in the "place where history took place".

The "December 12" Xi'an Incident was performed in an immersive manner. As soon as we entered the venue, we would be infected by the strong atmosphere of war of the Republic of China and enter the state of national resistance. At the scene, we were both audiences and actors, and we were immersed in the events of that special era.

This performance shows the destiny choices of the Chinese people in times of crisis from different perspectives. What it shows is only a short period of time before and after the "Xi'an Incident", but it depicts the hearts of the characters very deeply. In particular, the scene used high-tech stage means, used screen props that combined reality and reality, and integrated different expressions of movies and dramas, allowing us to follow Zhang Xueliang and Yang Hucheng, fall into the whirlpool of the destiny of our country and the nation, and make choices for our lives. And ups and downs.

The 1:1 restoration of Chiang Kai-shek's special plane was extremely shocking. The streets of the Republic of China with a strong atmosphere of the city were very real, but the scene that moved me most was that before the decision to "remonstrate", the stage used modern sound and light images to express Zhang Xueliang's inner war. This should be the most touching historical drama with the main theme I have ever seen. It is not stiff or preachy, and it can easily be put into the hearts of the characters. People's destiny seems so small in the torrent of history, but people's choices can change the course of history!

? Tips:

? Performance venue: Yaoguang Pavilion

? Ticket price: 169 yuan

Explore Huanyuan
Huanyuan, located to the east of the "Tang Yutang Ruins Museum", was built in the Qing Dynasty. This place was originally a private garden owned by a local county magistrate in the Qing Dynasty. It was built in 1878. It is named "Huanyuan" because the entire garden is in a circular layout. This place is full of Jiangnan garden characteristics and is very elegant. When the Eight-Power Allied Forces attacked Beijing in 1900, when Empress Dowager Cixi and Emperor Guangxu fled to Xi'an, they stayed in the "Huanyuan" both during their round-trip through Lintong. It can be said that they had unique insight and chose such a beautiful garden.

It is worth mentioning that there are also pomegranate trees by the pond, which is said to have been planted by Imperial Consort Yang herself. Think about it for more than a thousand years, and it is still fruitful today.

The five halls around the park were where Chiang Kai-shek worked and lived during his stay in Xi'an. I just finished watching the performance of "1212" Xi'an Incident, and I am really sad to visit here again. The bullet holes left by the "Xi'an Incident" can still be seen today.

What to eat in Huaqing Palace? Royal cuisine-Shaanxi court dishes
If you want to enjoy the style of Huaqing Palace, a whole day is definitely not enough. So what should we have for lunch? Not far from Furong Lake, there is an equally antique building. This is the restaurant in Huaqing Yutang Hotel, Imperial Dining Garden. Relying on Tang Dynasty dishes, the restaurant focuses on "Tang Dynasty Kitchen" boutique Shaanxi cuisine, and also designs "health dishes" with "low fat, low sugar and low sugar". If you eat at Huaqing Palace, this is the best choice.

The light and luxurious Chinese decoration very well suits the imperial style of Huaqing Palace. The few dishes we ordered were excellent and worth recommending.

Laoshan gourd chicken: gourd chicken is a famous dish in Shaanxi. It originated in the Tang Dynasty and is very consistent with the Tang culture of Huaqing Palace. The chicken has gone through three steps of clear boiling, steaming and frying, and the whole has a charming golden yellow color and looks mouth-watering. The shop assistant personally deboned the bones on site and could later restore it to the shape of a whole chicken. The taste can be described as bursting! The real crispy skin and meat are tender, and the chopsticks melt immediately after they are peeled off and in the mouth ~

Steamed cold rice noodles with seasonal vegetables: Xi'an people love cold rice noodles so much. Cold rice noodles made with three-color vegetable juice are very refreshing and must be ordered in summer.

Stone pot fried jelly: It is improved from traditional Xi'an jelly. The original method is cold. The fried flour is used here. It is full of ingredients, fragrant and chewy. After being identified by a senior fan like me, I can get a full score without hesitation.

One bite: The mini version of Roujiamo, at first glance, looks like a plate of macarons, very suitable for girls ~

Oil doused noodles and minced noodles: Needless to say, I have never eaten anything that tastes bad in Xi'an ~

What to buy in Huaqing Palace
The cultural and creative center of Huaqing Palace is full of Tang Dynasty characteristics, integrating traditional culture into current daily life. The Mengdi Mengfei series, portable stationery series, and daily necessities series are all designed to be both practical and interesting. The drunken expression blindfold of the imperial concubine, the sunny umbrellas with Tang style patterns, the decorations of ladies in Tang music and dance, and various cartoon Tang Dynasty characters are very suitable as accompanying gifts for traveling in Xi'an. Moreover, there are two high-tech interactive experiences here. You can GET Sichuan opera's face changing in one minute, or you can change Han costumes in seconds to experience the empress's costumes.

There is also a book bar full of literature and art in the Cultural and Creative Center, which is known as the most beautiful book bar in Xi'an. When you are tired and have bought enough, come here to take a nap and read the original book of "Chang' an Twelve Hours"~

What does Huaqing Palace wear

Blue courty-style dress + flat-topped straw hat

In the antique Huaqing Palace, if you want to take beautiful photos, you have to put some thought into dressing them.
Huaqing Palace uses classical vermilion as the main color. Choosing a blue dress will create a contrast in color and highlight the main character. If the pattern and style of the dress also have classical elements, it would be more suitable ~

The straw hat is also a bright matching item. It is not suitable for overly fashionable styles in ancient architectural scenic spots. The flat-topped straw hat with a retro feel is the most versatile.

White lace dress + wavy dot perspective straw hat
White dresses are definitely the most used scenarios during travel. Adding a little lace element will look more elegant and more consistent with the style of Huaqing Palace.

The black polka-dotted straw hat is still the style of a flat-topped hat. The perspective effect is a popular element this year. It is combined with the skirt to form a classic black and white match. Walking on the blue tiles and red eaves of Huaqing Palace, it is also a great flavor ~

Hanfu transformation experience

Huaqing Palace, with strong Tang style, is certainly the most suitable for transforming into Hanfu. I believe every girl has a dream of traveling. After dressing up and walking through this royal garden where a great love was forged, you will definitely feel as if you really came from a Tang Dynasty woman. What are the precautions for experiencing the transformation of Hanfu in Huaqing Palace?

Where to rent Hanfu? Where to rent Hanfu? Most of the Hanfu experience studios in Xi'an are located in the city. If you live in the city, you can choose a local Hanfu studio. Usually, there is a set package for makeup and hair rental. The time for makeup and changing into Chinese clothes is roughly between 1.5 and 2 hours. You have to plan the time yourself.

You can also consider renting Hanfu online. There are many treasures, and then looking for makeup and hair directly near Huaqing Palace.

How to choose the style of Hanfu? Han costumes mainly have Qin and Han styles, Tang styles and Qing court styles. In Huaqing Palace, which is themed with Tang Palace culture, of course, Tang styles and Han costumes are the best match. The specific color and style should match the personal temperament. For the quiet mushroom cooler, you can choose an elegant color, such as white, water blue, etc., to highlight the feeling of fresh literature and art. If you take the lovely style of mushroom cooling, you can focus on bright colors such as peach pink, goose yellow, and grass green. When photographed, you will look like a proper little fairy. For example, I can't hold those colors that are too fresh, so I chose red and black as the main colors and put on a tulle coat with a gold pattern. Isn't it a bit of the elegance and grandeur of a royal concubine? Haha.
Do you want to find a professional makeup and hair style? One! Set! Yes!

If you change to Hanfu without matching makeup and hairstyle, the overall effect will be greatly reduced.

Okay. However, compared to long hair, the styling space that can be done is relatively limited. And I will definitely use a wig. If my hair is dyed, it will inevitably have a little color difference, which I don't think will have a big impact.

By the way, most stylists would advise you not to use bangs. If you are like me and need bangs very much, then you must persist. In fact, the results are good, right?

Can short hair be made into a Chinese costume? Okay. However, compared to long hair, the styling space that can be done is relatively limited. And I will definitely use a wig. If my hair is dyed, it will inevitably have a little color difference, which I don't think will have a big impact.

Huaqing Palace is really suitable for spending a whole day in depth experience. I hope this guide can help you have a perfect journey through the Tang Dynasty.
