Among the places where tourists come to Xi'an will definitely check in, there must be a place in the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. The ancient building of the tower not only carries thousands of years of religious meaning, but also adds gorgeous colors to the gardens and landscapes of various places. Among them, the ancient capital of Xi'an during the Thirteen Dynasties retains a large number of high-rise buildings. In addition to the well-known Big Wild Goose Pagoda, there are also many equally important ancient towers.
1. Big Wild Goose Pagoda
If we talk about the oldest pagoda in China, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda cannot be named, but this ancient pagoda is the most famous pagoda in Chang 'an City and even in China. It has now become a famous tourist attraction in Xi'an City. The tower has seven floors. The higher the number of floors, the central tower room becomes smaller. The tower is 64.25 meters high and is in the form of a loft-style tower brick. This ancient tower is not outstanding among domestic ancient towers in terms of scale or exquisiteness, but the most famous thing here is that it was built by Xuanzang for Buddhist scriptures during the Tang Dynasty.
2. Little Wild Goose Pagoda
The Little Wild Goose Pagoda not far from the Big Wild Goose Pagoda is not as famous as the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, but as a traditional brick pagoda with dense eaves, the style of the Little Wild Goose Pagoda is not inferior. The Little Wild Goose Pagoda currently only has thirteen floors and is about 44 meters high. This ancient tower vividly embodies the superb architectural skills of ancient craftsmen. The honest and restrained architectural style echoes the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. The two large and small wild goose pagodas in Chang 'an City have witnessed the continuation of the city and have been passed down from generation to generation.
3. Xiangji Temple Tower
This Shandao Pagoda in Xiangji Temple is a rare square pagoda among Tang pagodas. The tower body depicts the structure of window lattices and brackets in red. The distance between the dense eaves of this ancient tower is large, and the inner chamber of the tower is square. You can go up the stairs and the windows on each floor. You can see the fields from afar, relaxed and happy. Nowadays, Xiangji Temple is no longer the only ancient tower left. The ancient tower of Xiangji Temple is also listed as a cultural relic protection unit in Shaanxi Province.
4. Xingjiao Temple Tower
Everyone knows about the Big Wild Goose Pagoda built by Xuanzang, but few people know about the relics tomb of Master Xuanzang and his disciples-the Xingjiao Temple Pagoda. The Xingjiao Temple Pagoda is close to the Qinling Mountains and is located in the Xingjiao Temple of the Tang Dynasty. It is closely related to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda in terms of construction form, time and style. Xingjiao Temple Pagoda is a square five-level tower, very similar in shape to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. It also combines the local Chinese architectural style with the architectural elements introduced from the West. This tower was dedicated to Master Xuanzang in 1961. It was listed as a national key cultural relic protection unit.
There are countless ancient towers like this in Shaanxi, including the iron tower built in the Ming Dynasty in Beidu Village, Shaanxi, the Kuixing Tower and Wenfeng wooden tower in Mian County, Shaanxi... These towers combine the essence of China's architecture, culture and religion for thousands of years. These ancient towers are either grand, simple, or solemn. Now, in the accumulation of these civilizations, we can dig a lot of inspiration from them. In the future, urban renovation and upgrading, we may be able to introduce the past to the present and give full play to greater value connotations.
