It's finally open! Xi'an Metro Lines 5, 6 and 9 were put into operation in the last week of 2020! Nowadays, the three lines connect the beautiful scenery of all parts of Xi'an, but have you noticed that the design of the Xi'an subway station is also full of unique "thoughts"?

The newly opened Xi'an Metro Line 5 is designed with the theme of "inheritance and integration". Each stop incorporates an ancient poem element, reflecting Xi'an's long history and culture. Metro Line 6 has the theme of "Ancient and Modern Chang 'an". The interior decoration inherits the roof shape of ancient Chinese traditional buildings. This architectural composition can expand the visual space size and vividly reflect the greatness of ancient architecture. Textile City Station of Metro Line 9 is built with "textile" as a design element. The walls record the historical changes starting from farming civilization, like a vivid comic strip, allowing every passenger to feel the cultural atmosphere coming from their faces.

In addition to these "new friends", Metro Lines 1, 2, 3 and 4 also have their own highlights. At Beidajie Station, where Line 1 and Line 2 meet, the main design element is a round-shaped ceiling. When you pass Beidajie Station and look up at the ceiling, you will see the wood-yellow ceiling with Jiugong pattern, highlighting the city's historical and cultural heritage. The ceiling of Yuxiangmen Station on Line 1 is decorated with auspicious clouds. Wood-colored grilles are interspersed to make the pattern shadowy. There are also auspicious clouds carved on the pillars. The fish-shaped patterns on the pillars of Banpo Station are even more interesting. The walls here are designed with the sheds of the ancestors of Banpo, and the ceilings are also in the form of pointed roofs where the ancestors of Banpo lived. At Tonghuamen Station, the intersection of Metro Lines 1 and 3, the station design has the theme of "Blooming Golden Flowers". The wood-colored bucket arch roof and columns engraved with Qing Dynasty tile patterns reflect the designer's intentions everywhere.

Bell Tower Station is the junction of Metro Lines 2 and 6. The theme of the cultural wall here uses the traditional intangible cultural heritage project-Qin Opera as a design element. Several sets of opera characters and facial masks on different tracks are lifelike, highlighting Xi'an's local cultural symbols. The pillar in the middle of the station is inlaid with a three-color pattern of the Tang Dynasty, which is rich in color and attracts people's attention. The gilded cultural wall at Yongningmen Station not far away looks magnificent. The rosefinch inlaid on the columns represents the rosefinch gate on the city wall of Xi'an. The administrative center station where Metro Lines 2 and 4 meet is even more pure and elegant. The dome here is made of white marble embossed glass, and the entire station is illuminated by natural light. It is also the only glass dome underground station in Asia. At the Big Wild Goose Pagoda Station where Metro Lines 3 and 4 meet, Xuanzang's travel is used as a design element. Xi'an elements such as the Big Wild Goose Pagoda and Furong Garden are all used to reflect the historical charm of the city.

In Xi'an, there are countless elements in Xi'an that are "meticulous". You can travel through thousands of years on the subway. How can you not love such Xi'an?
