Since the Tang Dynasty, Chang 'an has been the second hometown of Buddhism. To this day, many ancient temples with a long history and a long history are still preserved in the urban area of Xi'an to attract a large number of tourists. However, in addition to the urban area, there are also temples of large and small hidden in the Qinling Mountains not far away, with exquisite architecture and ingenuity. Often due to the limitations of the terrain, the temples on the mountains are generally not of high architectural specifications, and the architectural layout is different from that of ordinary traditional temples.
The broken rocks on the top of the mountain protect the country temple
The Poshanshi Huguo Temple in Jiawu Terrace in the Qinling Mountains is even more mysterious. The location of Poshanshi Temple is very unique. The halls here are scattered on various mountains, far apart, and there are cliffs below the temple. The walls of the Tibetan Temple are covered with photos of cliff stone carvings. Walking along the steep mountain road, you can reach a landmark landscape called "Broken Rock". The Broken Rock Rock is just like its name. Two adjacent stones are like being split in it by a giant axe, and the "cut surface" is smooth and neat, which makes people sigh at the miraculous craftsmanship of nature. If you want to climb to the top of the mountain, you must pass through this "cracked" stone crack, turn from the broken rock, and you will reach the broken rock Huguo Temple.
A thousand-year-old fleshly Bodhisattva
Poshanshi Huguo Temple is also called Poshan Temple by locals. It is a representative of the prosperous Buddhist culture of Jiawu Terrace and has a long history. It has been a famous temple near Chang 'an City since the Tang Dynasty. The "Lama Cave" in the temple is where the Xizang Living Buddha Panchen Lama once lived. The only fully preserved fleshly Bodhisattva in Zhongnan Mountain is preserved here, which also adds a bit of mysterious humanistic color to the place. The fleshly Bodhisattva refers to the magical phenomenon that the fleshly body does not rot after the eminent monk passed away. This "fleshly Bodhisattva" in Poshanshi Huguo Temple is the fleshly body of a Nanneng nun who passed away in 1997.
Poshanshi Temple does not look large from the outside, but the boundary monument of Poshanshi Huguo Temple here is next to the Tibetan Temple on another hill. Due to terrain factors, mountains and ridges are still needed between the main halls. From this perspective, the scale of this temple is not small at all.
Beautiful scenery Jiawu Terrace
Jiawu Terrace, where Poshanshi Huguo Temple is located, is composed of five peaks. It has been called Xiaohua Mountain since ancient times. The highest peak is about 1800 meters above sea level. The strange peaks here are one after another and the scenery is very dangerous. It is interconnected with the big and small valleys of the Qinling Mountains. There are many temples and thatched sheds along the way. Since the Sui and Tang Dynasties, this has been a Buddhist holy place. Today, the mountain has a strong Buddhist cultural atmosphere and is a tourist attraction that is deeply loved by tourists. There are many scenic spots along the way, including more than 30 scenic spots such as Baidaoyu, Xin 'an Temple, Taibai Temple, Poshan Temple, Jingang Cliff, Xingqing Temple, etc. Among them, the "Chaotian Tiantian" is a vertical cliff with three sides in the sky. There are iron chain and carved stone steps on both sides to climb up. The scenery and strange stones on the way make people feel dizzying. Strange stones such as Guan Gong's sword splitting stones and Shuangfeng Chaoyang are vivid. Since the Tang and Song Dynasties, many poets and scholars have come here to recite poems and paint, adding more humanistic color to the natural scenery.
