For Xi'an people, living next to ancient tombs has become accustomed to it. Nowadays, most ancient tombs in the city have been built into parks. If you live near the park, you can see these tombs as soon as you open the window. Such tomb views are not uncommon in Xi'an. For example, the Qin Second Tomb in Qujiang, the Xuejiazhai Han Tomb Group in Weiyang District, etc. These ancient tomb landscapes seem to have become a bonus to the park, but it is inevitable that some netizens will sincerely ask: "Does anyone really dare to go to the park in the middle of the night?"
Xuejiazhai Han Tombs
Generally, the well-preserved Han tombs are mostly concentrated in the burial areas of the emperor's tombs or in areas far away from the city. Therefore, it is rare for this Han Dynasty tomb group in the northern suburbs of Xi'an to be preserved so well. It is said that this Han tomb group once had 28 sealed earth, but today only 10 are still sealed earth, and they are densely distributed, so it is also called "Luanzhong Bay". Now this tomb group has a new name-Xuejiazhai Han Tombs Group. Xuejiazhai Han Tombs Group is named because it is close to the former Xuejiazhai. There are 7 tombs, large and small, distributed in the east and west areas. The well-preserved appearance of these tombs is in the shape of a bucket. The large one is more than ten meters high and the small one is several meters high. It is difficult to tell that this is an ancient tomb if the damage is more serious. These tombs are arranged regularly and are relatively large in scale, so it was very likely that it was a cemetery in the early days.
The mysterious family of the tomb owner
As for one question that everyone is more concerned about, who is the owner of these tombs? But unfortunately, because these tombs have almost no reference materials, it is difficult to determine the owners of the tombs. Based on the shape of the enclosure and some remaining written tiles, it can be speculated that these tombs are likely to contain some royal aristocrats who could not be buried in the imperial tomb for various reasons. They are also very likely to be a noble family tomb in the Han Dynasty. As for who it is, it will not be confirmed until future archaeological excavations.
City Heritage Park
It is an indisputable fact that there are many Han tombs in the northern suburbs of Xi'an. As early as the Western Han Dynasty, this was once the tomb area of Chang' an City in the Han Dynasty. A large number of tombs were excavated when the administrative center was built. Many years ago, the Xuejiazhai Han tombs were surrounded by sewage and garbage. After renovation, Xuejiazhai has disappeared. Now tall buildings have risen from the ground. On the "Luanzhong Bay" site, an urban park with the center of protecting the site has been built here. Turf is planted on the seal soil of the Han tombs to protect them. The tombs like rockery have become a unique scenery in the park. There are two tombs distributed on the west side of the park, five on the east side, and three more tombs distributed outside the east wall of the park, with a total of ten tombs. Nowadays, the spring is shining brightly, with flowers blooming on the cherry blossom slopes and plum gardens. Kaiyuan Park has also built a garden greenway for residents to relax and exercise. It is not an exaggeration to say that it is one of the most beautiful parks in the north of the city.
In Xi'an, ancient tombs have become a symbol of good luck. The beautiful environment makes people forget that this is actually a gathering place for tombs. As for whether anyone dares to come here at night, it depends on how bold they are.
