The oldest garden in Xishuangbanna, Mantingyu Garden

Jinghong is the capital of Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture in Yunnan. In ancient Dai, Xishuangbanna meant "ideal and magical paradise." It is famous for its beautiful tropical rainforest natural landscape and ethnic customs. Manting Park is the site of the ancient Xishuangbanna Dai King's "Imperial Garden" site and has a history of 1300 years. In Dai,"man" means village, and "listen" means planting trees and flowers.

Legend has it that when the Dai Princess came to the park, the beautiful scenery of the park attracted the princess's soul, so it was named "Chunhuan Park", which means "Garden of Souls" and is the oldest park in Xishuangbanna.

Entering the park is the National Cultural Square, where there is a commemorative bronze statue of Premier Zhou celebrating the Water-Splashing Festival with local people in the park in 1961. The Prime Minister is dressed in Dai costume, holding a water bowl in his left hand and an olive branch in his right hand. On the left side of the bronze statue are two Bodhi trees planted by the Princess of the Kingdom of Thailand to symbolize China-Thailand friendship.

Dai Wang Meeting Hall

Dai musical instruments. The elephant foot drum is named because the drum body looks like an elephant foot. It is an ancient national musical instrument of the Dai people.

The gong, called Mengsheng and Lingshou in Dai language, is a percussion instrument.

Galasa, a percussion instrument assembled from metal sheets. Only the Xuanwei envoy's office has a place. When each Meng Tusi comes to see the Xuanwei envoy or someone enters the envoy's office to present gifts, they tap it to exaggerate the atmosphere.

Fangsheng Lake is located in the middle of the three temples. It was originally a backwater bay in the Lancang River waters. Every year, the water level of the Lancang River rises during the flood season, and river water flows into it to form a lake surface. Dai people think it is a very spiritual lake. Fangsheng Lake has been opened by hundreds of eminent monks. It is a place for Xishuangbanna Buddhist believers to release their lives. The lake is also one of the most famous Fangsheng lakes in Southeast Asia.

The white tower consists of a mother tower and eight small towers around it. The entire pagoda group forms a round and gentle image, which sets off the Buddhist purpose of Theravada Buddhism of tolerance, liberation, understanding and integration spread in the south and the kind, gentle, tender and beautiful personality of the Dai people.

What ordinary tourists like most is watching elephant performances and riding elephants.

In the back garden of Manting Park, there is also a well-known general Buddhist temple in Southeast Asia. It is called "Wabajie" in Dai language. It is the highest mid-level Buddhist temple in Xishuangbanna and the center of pilgrimage for Buddhist believers in Xishuangbanna. In the past, it was a sacred place for Zhaopanling, the highest ruler of Xishuangbanna, and his chief chieftains to worship Buddha. Hooters of Buddhist temples from various places came here from time to time to pay homage and discuss scriptures.

Visiting Manting Park and the General Buddhist Temple is free of charge, and you can experience Dai royal culture, Southern Buddhist culture, and Dai folk culture.

Another highlight of Manting Park is the night bonfire party of the "Lancang River·Mekong River". First, enjoy the buffet at the Dai family, and then watch and participate in cultural performances. The performance brought together the folk customs performances of the six countries in the Lancang-Mekong River Basin and the ethnic minorities living in Xishuangbanna.
