Wild Elephant Valley is a classic in Xishuangbanna tourism that cannot be ignored. As a tourist, I also took Wonton Baby to this scenic spot located in the tropical rainforest in Jinghong City, with the main purpose of exploring wild Asian elephants.

As I expected, I didn't bump into the innocent wild elephants in the advertisement, and I couldn't even see their shadows;

Unexpectedly, at an unexpected time during our trip, we accidentally discovered another immortal secret area in the scenic area, and even saw an incredible scene that subverted common sense during our visit.

Second detective, found the creatures in the waste paper pile

The Butterfly Hall located in the Wild Elephant Valley Scenic Area is the end of this discovery journey. Not every time you visit, you will see magical scenes. We were fortunate enough to pass by and enter the museum twice on the way back to the gate of the scenic spot, and we were able to witness the wonders.

After 4 o'clock in the afternoon, it was the most popular elephant performance time in the Wild Elephant Valley Scenic Area. Everyone gathered at the performance venue. There were almost no tourists in the Butterfly Pavilion.

At this time, when I stepped into the Butterfly Hall, I saw swarms of flying butterflies in the sky, which was obviously more spectacular than when I first entered.

Following the path hidden among the flowers, we came to the deepest part of the Butterfly Pavilion, which is the secret room where butterflies are incubated, and discovered the source of the dense butterfly swarm.

Staff are taking advantage of the gap between fewer tourists to "release" newborn butterflies. Viewed from a distance, I saw the staff waving one hand in the air. As they swung up and down, the butterflies rushed out of their hands. At first glance, it seems that the staff are holding a magic wand. If they touch the air there, they will turn the air into spirits and become alive.

When I got closer and closer, I realized that there was another mystery.

In his hands, the staff turned out to be holding stacks of "small books" cut and bound from used newspapers. The artificially incubated butterflies were placed in a bookmarked manner and clipped to the pages of these newspapers one by one. When you are mature, take it in the museum and fly it. This produces the effect of the butterfly group dancing mentioned above.

If you are not sure about the scene effect, you might as well imagine the moment in which hundreds of pages of books have a bookmark on each page. You swing the entire book in the air and the bookmarks will fly and fall. This scene was very shocking and had the visual feel of film and television special effects. It is obviously a waste newspaper, but there are hundreds of butterflies waving their beautiful wings and standing out.

The artificially incubated butterfly swarm is grown from piles of old newspapers, which really subverts our understanding from primary school biology textbooks.

From eggs, to larvae, cocoons, and finally emerging into butterflies, this natural process has always been arranged by inherent cognition in natural environments such as trees; even if you know the existence of artificial incubation, you will imagine this process as being in a simulated greenhouse or environment, but what you never expected was the old newspaper that we are most familiar with and full of ink smell.

Unfortunately, time was in a hurry, and I couldn't get to know more from the staff at that time. After returning home, I searched for relevant information online. It was estimated that it was using the water-absorbing property of the newspaper to provide a dry and warm incubation environment for the young butterflies.

Of course, if you have more accurate relevant knowledge, you are particularly welcome to popularize science for everyone in the comment area.

In fact, in addition to lamenting the magic of creation, what makes me even more unforgettable is that the moment when the butterfly is released is also the intersection of life and death.

The butterflies flying in the museum are all winners who successfully challenge the living conditions and can finally spread their wings and soar; on the path we walked along the road, there are also many non-viable corpses lying quietly. They are being released. At the second, the life that has just begun ends. The first second is the take-off of survival, and the next second is the fall of death.

Baby Wonton was very excited to see the butterflies flying. He chased the newborn butterflies that had successfully escaped their nests and jumped happily on the ground in the museum. This is the child's keen sense of vitality; as a mother, I will pay attention to those parting lives on the ground. This is the adult's perception of death.

Life and death, childhood and growth, butterfly life and life are so clearly reflected.

A preliminary study, the secret realm of the immortal where butterflies are more beautiful than flowers

The sight of butterflies appearing in the pile of newspapers is not something you can encounter in the Butterfly Museum. So, is this Butterfly Hall worth visiting?

For me who opposes elephant performances, this is the most worthwhile attraction in the Wild Elephant Valley Scenic Area when you can't meet elephants by chance. Especially parents with their babies, or MM who want to pose in a concave shape.

The Butterfly Museum is arranged as a Wizard of Oz full of flowers and plants. Through artificial incubation, a large number of butterflies are also cultivated in the museum. Therefore, even if we didn't choose to go to the wrong peak like we did, it would be absolutely no problem to see the butterflies flying around us.

There are many varieties of butterflies bred in the museum, and we even observed the rare dead leaf butterfly up close. This is a butterfly shaped like a dead leaf. Even if it stops next to the display area, it is difficult to distinguish it from a withered leaf. While the tour guide explained the dead leaf butterfly in detail, I was pleased that this journey had given the young baby more knowledge about biology.

Although I visit during other time periods, the Butterfly Museum has a lot of visitors. But flowers, green leaves, and butterflies are indeed excellent materials for taking beautiful photos, and this should not be missed.
