It is said that the ethnic group with the smallest number of people in the country is the Kiluo people. On the Kiluo Mountain not far from Jinghong City, the number is less than 20,000. Apart from being unable to communicate and being short, everything else is still normal. Mengle Dafo Temple is located in Jinghong City, Xishuangbanna Prefecture, about 5 kilometers away from the urban area. It was restored and rebuilt on the original site of the ancient Dai Dynasty's royal temple "Jingpiao Buddhist Temple". The "Jingpiao Buddhist Temple" was built by a Dai king named Bo Long in Dai history to commemorate the deceased princess Nansha Weibian. The princess believed in Buddhism all her life, so the Dai King would visit the temple in person during festivals and hold large-scale Dharma meetings to commemorate her beloved concubine and promote Dharma.

According to historical records, the "Jingpiao Buddhist Temple" was built in the Ming Dynasty. It is one of the landmark buildings symbolizing the Twelve Banna Buddhism spread in the south and an important place for Buddhist activities in Banna. The building was destroyed during the war in 2883 of the Buddhist calendar (i.e. 1848 AD, during the Xianfeng period of the Qing Dynasty), 169 years ago. The Buddhist temple began to be rebuilt in 2005. A large-scale land opening ceremony was held on March 9 of the same year. A grand groundbreaking ceremony was held on May 9, 2005. The first phase of the Buddhist temple was completed on November 3, 2007.

Southern Buddhism has a profound influence on the politics, economy, culture and art of Dai society. Hundreds of long narrative poems written by the Dai people appeared after the introduction of Buddhism. There are 84,000 Buddhist scriptures in Dai script, most of which are engraved on shell leaves and are called shell leaf scriptures. The Dai people in Xishuangbanna all believe in Southern Buddhism. Dai boys when they are 8-10 years old must enter the temple to live as monks. They learn scriptures and read there, and usually return to secular life in 1-5 years. On important festivals such as the Water-Splashing Festival, Closing Festival, and Opening Festival, Dai families go to Buddhist temples to worship Buddha. In Xishuangbanna, Buddhist temples are spread throughout the villages, almost one village or two villages, and their architectural styles are also different. Today, there are still more than 500 Buddhist temples and more than 200 pagodas in the Dai villages in Xishuangbanna. Mengle Dafo Temple is the largest of all Buddhist temples and its status is supreme. It is a sacred place in the eyes of Dai people.

Manting Park is the oldest park in Xishuangbanna. It is located in the southeast of Jinghong City, 2 kilometers away from the Urban area. It is a natural village-style park.
