Here, you will see the banyan strangulation of the naked strangulation technique of mixed martial arts in the plant world. In the octagonal cage of humans, if you lose, you can start again. In the arena of nature, if you lose, even the "corpse"(dead wood) will be squeezed out completely!
Here, you can also see strange organs like human butts (what they are revealed below):
As well as the kapok, which appears in "Lion Boy" and inspires young people to forge ahead and is known as the "Hero Tree":
Don't talk about gossip, go into the garden and take a closer look.
Starting from Jinghong City, the state capital, you can reach the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences about 70 kilometers east. This is Menglun Town, Mengla County. The Botanical Garden is located on Huludao surrounded by the Luosuo River, a tributary of the Lancang River. It is 570 meters above sea level, with an average annual temperature of 21.5 ° C, and an annual precipitation of 1560 mm. It can be said to be unique, with favorable times and geographical locations.
Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences was founded in 1959 under the leadership of Professor Cai Xitao, a famous botanist. After 60 years of construction and development, it has now become a comprehensive research institution integrating scientific research, germplasm preservation, and popular science tourism. In 1100 hectares of land, there are more than 13000 tropical plants introduced from all over the world, including fragrant flowers, jade grass, birds and flowers, and hundreds of thousands of tourists come here every year. Among them are many leaders and famous scholars from various countries.
The first thing you arrive at after entering from the West Gate is Baihua Garden, which covers an area of 25.3 hectares and collects and maintains nearly 600 varieties of tropical flowers that are very ornamental. Walking into the garden, the "goddess" scattered flowers, colorful flowers, blooming and falling, and the forest was dyed.
The kapok in Xishuangbanna blooms in February, and the trees are full of dazzling red, which is deeply loved by painters.
The picture below shows the purple cicada flower. Although it is bright and small, its juice is toxic and can make people's skin allergic.
The pink little flower that is just about to bloom with pear flowers and rain is called the drunken butterfly flower, which is as beautiful as a drunk girl.
The "butt leaves" in the picture below are the leaves of the hoof. It is said that the green leaves of the hoof are lined with red flowers, but the hoof-shaped leaves steal the limelight of the purple flowers.
There is a small lake in the Baihua Garden, lotus leaf fields, and Huating Pavilion Zhu.
A painter is painting in the pavilion, and poems about flowers are displayed on the corridor. Among them, Du Mu's poem "Crape Myrtle Flowers" is thought-provoking:"The dawn welcomes autumn dew, a new branch does not occupy the hottest spring in the garden. Where are the peaches and plums speechless? They smile towards the wind and the sun." Although it is not yet the flowering season of crape myrtle, its noble and clean temperament that does not compete for its own blooming in spring is touching.
There is a large lawn on the side of the lake, and two bright hot air balloons come one after another, carrying tourists into the sky to overlook the "colorful world". The rising hot air balloons also constitute a unique scene of the Botanical Garden.
Head east to Baihua Garden, pass a suspension bridge, and reach Baizhuyuan.
Baizhuyuan covers an area of 7 hectares and collects more than 200 kinds of bamboo in tropical areas of China and Southeast Asia, including precious bamboo species, such as giant bamboo, spinous bamboo, glutinous rice fragrant bamboo, banna sweet bamboo, square bamboo, purple bamboo and teng bamboo.
The picture below shows Banna sweet dragon bamboo, also known as "sweet bamboo shoots". It has a beautiful and elegant tree shape. It is an excellent bamboo for landscaping. The bamboo shoots are sweet, fresh and delicious. After being pickled by local minorities, they can be made into sour bamboo shoots with unique flavor.
Phoenix Tail Bamboo:
Walking southeast from Maolin Xiuzhu, we arrived at the Southern Medicine Garden, covering an area of 2 hectares. We collected nearly 500 species of important medicinal plants in the tropics and subtropics such as traditional Chinese medicines, southern medicines, ethnic medicines and raw materials, mainly used by the Dai, Hani and Jino ethnic groups.
In ancient times, the south was a place of malaria, and malaria transmitted by mosquitoes was one of the most horrific diseases. In 1967, my country established a malaria prevention and control research leading group, with Tu Youyou as the team leader, leading the screening of anti-malaria drugs. In 1971, Tu Youyou was inspired by Artemisia annua's treatment of malaria in ancient Chinese medicine books and began to study Artemisia annua. She realized that high temperatures would destroy the efficacy of Artemisia annua annua, so she switched to the method of boiling Artemisia annua with water and extracting it with ether, and finally successfully divided the anti-malaria drug artemisinin. Tu Youyou won the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 2015 because artemisinin is effective and cheap, making great contributions to the fight against malaria in developing countries and saving millions of lives.
The following picture shows Artemisia annua extracted from artemisinin:
The plant below is called sword leaf dragon blood tree, and its stems and branches can be extracted from the traditional Chinese medicine "dragon blood".
The picture below shows blood amaranth, which has the effects of lowering fire, detoxifying and dispersing blood.
The tree below is called nux vomica. Its seeds are highly toxic (strychnine and strychnine) and act on the spinal cord. It can also be used as medicine to regulate nerve responses and myocardial tension, but the amount must be very delicate, otherwise it will lead to convulsions, difficulty breathing and death. Li Yu, the Latter Ruler of the Southern Tang Dynasty, lamented "When is the spring flowers and autumn moon?", was poisoned to death by Emperor Taizong of Song Dynasty with strychni liquor. His whole body twitched, his head and feet were touching, and his death was very tragic.
The following plant with bright flowers is called Buddha's belly tree. It is named because the base is expanded like the belly of Maitreya Buddha, and its flower stalks are branched like red coral, so it is also called "coral flowers". The white branches and leaves in the plant are poisonous, but if they are crushed and applied to the affected area, they can treat snake venom and bruises. The so-called use of poison to fight poison.
On the south side of Nanyao Garden is Baixiang Garden, covering an area of 3.3 hectares and collecting 119 kinds of precious domestic and foreign spice plants, most of which are excellent varieties from Yunnan.
The picture below shows the national level I key protected plant, a large evergreen tree in the family Dipterocarpus family-Wangtianshu, which can grow to 40-80 meters. Tall and straight tree trunks stand upright on the canopy of the tropical rainforest, looking like to pierce the blue sky. This park can only be looked up under trees. There is a special Wangtian Tree Scenic Area dozens of kilometers south of Menglun Town. There are small bridges built high above Heshu and other places, allowing you to see the majestic charm of the "Giant in the Forest".
The following plant is the famous sandalwood. Its heartwood is known as the "King of Spices". It also has the characteristics of dense quality, strong weight, corrosion resistance and high medicinal value. It is used in traditional Chinese medicine, furniture, carving, cosmetics, etc., can be said to be a treasure throughout the body.
Continue south and come to the Strange Flowers Garden. The area is not large, only 0.7 hectares, but it is the most amazing. Here are dancing grass that dances to hear songs, mysterious fruits that turn sour into sweetness, colorful golden banyan trees with different leaf shapes, mountain turtles that look like turtles and can be used for medicinal purposes, etc. Strange flowers and flowers are always open, competing for wonders and beauty, making people amazed.
The inconspicuous grass in the picture below is the dancing grass, also known as the wind grass. This kind of grass is very sensitive to sound waves and will swing up and down continuously with the sound, like a girl dancing. Some tourists didn't believe it, so they took out their mobile phones and played the song "It's Better to Dance" in front of the dancing grass, and they really danced!
The picture below shows a large mimosa of the Mimosa family. When you touch the stretched leaflets with your finger, the leaflets close together like shyness.
The bright plant in the picture below is called Diyong Jinlian. Its stem juice has the effects of relieving alcohol, detoxifying and stopping bleeding. It is one of the "five trees and six flowers" in Buddhism, and it is also the embodiment of kindness and punishment of evil in Dai literary works. symbol.
The picture below shows the turtle back bamboo. The holes in the leaves are not bitten by insects, but a special evolutionary adaptation of the turtle back bamboo. The green bamboo grows under the forest and the light is dark. In order to balance the energy of growth and photosynthesis, holes have been developed to save energy. There is another plant of the same family (Araceae) in the rainforest, the giant sea lily, which grows in a similar environment to that of turtle bamboo, but has no holes in its leaves, because the leaves of the giant sea lily can rotate with the direction of light to make better use of light energy.
The picture below shows some beautiful Saxiviera plants. Tigertail orchid is also known as tiger lily. Its leaves are shaped like swords and its markings are similar to tiger spots. They have strong adaptability to the growth environment, have almost no pests and diseases, and are very easy to maintain.
The picture below shows the mysterious fruit tree. After people eat the mysterious fruit, they will find it very sweet if they eat anything sour. It contains a protein that regulates human taste buds.
Gorgeous and touching red passion flower flowers:
Not far from the north side of the Strange Flowers Garden is the banyan tree garden. We have seen many banyan trees in our previous trip to Fujian. We have experienced various shapes and huge thousand-year-old banyan trees, but I believe that the next wonders will still open your eyes.
(The air roots of the banyan tree sticking out of the ground)
Banyan trees are often referred to as figs. The reason why they are called "figs" is because the banyan trees only bear fruit and do not bloom on the surface. In fact, the banyan tree is not without flowers, but the flowers bloom in the banyan fruit cavity. Therefore, only small pollinating fig wasps can get into the fruits and pollinate them. Pollinating fig wasps enter the fruit cavity through the bract opening of the fig fruit, lay eggs while pollinating, and reproduce their own descendants.
Ficus is the general name for the Moraceae family Ficus. There are more than 800 species in the world, mostly distributed in tropical and subtropical regions. There are about 100 species in China and 67 species in Yunnan. Banyan trees generally have roots, old stems with flowers, hanging gardens, isolated trees and strangulation, and are important features of tropical rainforests.
The following picture shows the spectacle of a single tree forming a banyan tree: After the skin of the banyan tree branches is damaged, several aerial roots grow from the wound under humid conditions. After these aerial roots grow into the soil, they quickly absorb water and nutrients, and quickly grow up and become trunks supporting thick branches. These trunks range from dozens to hundreds, thus forming the phenomenon of a single tree forming a forest. The picture shows a single green tree of the genus Ficus.
The following picture shows the "crime scene" of strangulation of banyan trees: The fruit of the banyan tree is taken by birds to the branches of other trees. When encountering appropriate weather, it will sprout and grow "parasitic roots". The parasitic roots extend along the trunk of the tree to the ground and insert them into the soil., forcibly seizing the nutrients in the soil, and the branches and leaves of the parasitic roots also quickly stretch into the air to force the sunlight. The parasitic roots, as dense as a fish net, tightly wrap around the tree trunk. Over time, the tree is "hanged" alive. The dense leaves of the strangulation fig block the sun, suffocating the big tree to death. Eventually, the big tree fell down and soon rotted completely, leaving the net trunk woven from the branches of the strangulation fig standing proudly-killing the tree and killing the heart!
Seemingly quiet plants, the competition for survival is cruel and thrilling!
Continuing east is the palm garden. There are palm plants of different heights and shapes such as Dong palm, Taishi palm, big ruo palm, oil palm, root thorn palm, elephant trunk palm, etc. Some can extract oil, some can brew wine, and some can bloom every 60 years and "nirvana" when they bloom... The shellfish leaf palm described above is such a plant, which is closely related to the history of Xishuangbanna ("shellfish leaf culture").
Shell Leaf Brown:
In the north of the Palm Garden is the Shade Botanical Garden, covering an area of 1 hectare and collecting more than 600 kinds of shade plants with different ecological habits. Tropical rainforests are the ecosystem with the richest biodiversity on land. Their canopies are very dense. Sunlight is blocked from the canopy to the ground by various layers of leaves, and only about 5% can reach the ground. Many plants that like shade and tolerate shade rely on this energy to survive. Some of them survive on trunks, branches, tree limbs and even leaf surfaces, forming a hanging garden, while some grow on the ground, forming a unique natural landscape of the tropical rainforest.
The picture below shows the "Southern Beauty"-Bandai Orchid. It is a typical epiphytic orchid with a southern flavor. Several larger flowers can bloom on a stem. It is elegant, elegant and moving.
The picture below shows the "Bloody Mary" of the pitcher plant. As the saying goes, if there is not enough sunshine, insects will come together. This plant can prey on insects! It has a unique organ that absorbs nutrients-an insect trap. The insect trap is cylindrical, the lower half is slightly expanded, and there is a lid on the mouth of the cage. It is named because it is shaped like a pig cage. The bottle cap can secrete fragrance and attract insects. The bottle opening is smooth. The insects will slip into the bottle and be drowned by the liquid secreted at the bottom of the bottle. It will decompose the nutrients of the insect body and gradually digest and absorb them.
Other beautiful shade plants: (Dendrobium, Oncidium, safflower banana, velve-leaf bamboo arrowroot, torch-ginger, etc.)
There is also a Tropical Rainforest Ethnic Culture Museum in the park, from which you can systematically understand Xishuangbanna's Tropical Rainforest knowledge.
Tropical rainforests on the earth are mainly distributed in the Amazon River in South America, the Zaire River in Africa and Southeast Asia in Asia. Tropical rainforests have many plants, animals and microorganisms. They are the ecosystem with the richest biodiversity on land. Although they only account for 7% of the earth's land area, they are home to 70% of the earth's biological species. Xishuangbanna is located on the northern edge of the tropics of Southeast Asia. It is one of the few areas near the Tropic of Cancer that still retains large areas of tropical rainforest. It is the area with the most abundant natural resources in my country and an emerald inlaid on the Tropic of Cancer.
The "butt" that appears at the beginning of the article is the seed of a palm tree-the world's largest double coconut.
Not only plants, arthropods and insects in tropical rainforests are also huge, such as the Malayan giant spider:
There are also giant turtles distributed in the Langcang River and the Ganges River Basin in India, weighing hundreds of kilograms:
The museum also learned that some plants are called "energy plants" because their seeds or juices contain large amounts of petroleum-like hydrocarbons and can be processed as fuel oil. There are many energy plants in tropical rainforests, such as sugarcane and cassava. In addition, rubber indispensable for industry, teak and yellow sandalwood required for furniture and musical instruments all grow in tropical rainforests. Xishuangbanna is also an important producer of Yunnan's famous tea Pu 'er tea. Thousands of years of wild ancient tea trees have been found in tropical rainforests, making Xishuangbanna's tea famous at home and abroad.
In the Botanical Garden, there are also parks such as Guoshu National Garden, Celebrity Famous Tree Garden, Baiguoyuan Garden, and Tengyuan Garden. Due to the limited space, we will not display them one by one. We will select a few interesting plants from them and introduce them to everyone.
The picture below shows Paramita, which is native to India and can be eaten and extracted from genisole.
The picture below shows Wang Lian. This plant is rare in my country and was introduced from abroad in the 1960s. The leaves of Wang Lian are extremely large, and the leaf span can reach more than two meters (compared with ordinary lotus leaves in the picture). With a cover plate, one Wang Lian leaf can support the weight of a person. Another magical thing is that Wang Lian's flowers are white female flowers on the first day and gradually turn into pink male flowers on the second day. Self-pollination is avoided through the difference in maturity time between male and female!
The picture below shows Erythrina cristata, which is the national flower of Argentina. It has a flowering period of half a year and has high ornamental value. Argentines bathe with the cockscomb Erythrina flowers every New Year's Day to show washing off previous dirt.
The picture below shows the fire-burned flowers that are well known to all women and children in Xishuangbanna. The flowers are not only beautiful, but also edible.
The picture below shows a lamp oil vine, which looks like a lamp holder. Its seed oil can be used as lamp oil, soap making, and medicine.
The picture below shows the crown of a fox tail coconut. Does it look like a fox tail?
There is also a Xiyuan Garden History Museum in the Botanical Garden, which introduces the life of Mr. Cai Xitao, the founder of the Botanical Garden, and the development history of the Tropical Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Cai Xitao (1911-1981) was a famous botanist in our country and a pioneer in plant resource science. From 1932 to 1934, he went through three years of wind and rain in Yunnan, sometimes risking his life, and collected more than 100,000 plant specimens., became the first person to unveil the veil of Yunnan's "Plant Kingdom". Later, the Tropical Botanical Garden was established and engaged in botany research for half a century, making outstanding contributions to my country's plant science and local economic development.
Xishuangbanna's natural and cultural journey has ended.
So far, China's 34 provincial-level administrative regions (except the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Taiwan Province) have all set foot in and written, and it is time for a wave of generalizations. China Tourism Map will meet you soon, so stay tuned!
