Banna is located in the tropics. It has one of the few tropical rainforests in my country, where Dai compatriots who celebrate the Water-Splashing Festival live, the Lancang River, the third longest river in my country, and the lively and prosperous Xingguang Night Market.
The videos are mixed and cut to show you the interesting Banna first!
Fly from Shanghai to Xishuangbanna and stop via Changsha. The main building of Banna Airport has a golden roof in the style of a Dai temple. Landing after 6 o'clock and taking a bus to the hostel. Seeing Chongqing noodles at the door, I ate a lot in Chongqing and decided to have another bowl. The hostel happened to have a group of friends for a dinner and barbecue. It was quite lively.
D1 Violent Tropical Rainforesttips:
Friends who are not interested in plants can skip this part.
If you want to take pictures, go to Palm Garden and you can take pictures.
I admire myself a little. After visiting the east and west districts of the Botanical Garden in one day, the intensity is high and it is really tiring! There are more than 30,000 steps. The last time I took so many steps was to visit Sanqing Mountain in one day. That night, we went to Xingguang Night Market for dinner, with Dai specialties. Gaozhuang Xingguang Night Market is very lively. There are several singing stations next to the Dafo Temple, and many young ladies and sisters wear Dai costumes to take photos.
After 7 o'clock, I arrived at Banna Passenger Station and prepared to take a bus to the Tropical Botanical Garden.
There is an extremely ordinary noodle shop next to the station. It is small and has several sets of tables and chairs for years outside the store. A big brother was drinking rice flour and felt very delicious, so he ordered a bowl of shredded pork rice noodles. The food was served quickly. This bowl of flour looked ordinary. Add your own seasoning, including chili soy sauce, which is very fragrant. The toppings are shredded pork and mushrooms, which is only a spoonful.
The moment the rice noodles entered the entrance, the impression turned 180 degrees. It was so delicious and the happiness was bursting! The rice noodles are slightly thinner than Jiangxi rice noodles and have a more tender taste. Rice is abundant here, and rice flour is naturally one of the staple foods. The soup is supplemented with shredded pork, mushrooms and soybean paste, and is fragrant.
Sahuan Tropical Botanical GardenThe train started at 8:45 and took 1.5 hours to get to the Botanical Garden. At 10:30, buy tickets to enter the park.
Walk across the bridge and start walking. Don't say, the Botanical Garden is really too big! If you don't plan in advance, you will be immediately confused when you come in. The original intention must be that it would be best to visit all of them, but route planning was a problem. After opening the map and looking at it for a while, I couldn't figure out why, so I had to grit my courage and walk first.
In the northeast corner of the western district, I wandered around for a while and saw a very magical konjac flower, a red flower of the vine, which I couldn't name. There were also trees with trunks bearing fruit, and I didn't know what kind of tree. For laypeople, I was surprised.
Thanks to the Downcolor app, with it, it's easy to identify plants! After strolling for a short while and looking at the map, the route took shape, and then began to play with great strides.
① [Tropical Balloon]The northeast corner of the western district is a bit messy and it is a little unclear when shopping, but there is a hot air balloon that is particularly conspicuous. It rises and falls on the edge of a green lawn. Hot air balloons are for tourists to fly high and see far away. If they fly tens of meters into the sky, their vision must be very wide.
There are small pools around and lotus flowers of various colors. There are oleander next to it. In addition to pink flowers, there are also yellow flowers.
② [Baizhuyuan]Since coming from a hot air balloon, I have been fascinated by the Hundred Bamboo Garden. I have constantly looked at different varieties of bamboo here, with different sizes, shapes, and colors, which is an eye-opener. The bamboo growth environment is cloudy and humid, and the black and white mosquitoes are so poisonous that they are itchy and painful after being bitten.
Don't put so many pictures! The bamboo varieties listed below show how legitimate Baizhuyuan is!
Fragrant glutinous bamboo, small qin silk bamboo, Buddha belly bamboo, green skin bamboo, hemp bamboo, wild dragon pearl bamboo, small leaf dragon bamboo, car tube bamboo, drum joint bamboo, strong green bamboo, oil tendon bamboo, Sarotan bamboo, golden intergreen bamboo, thin bamboo, diabolo, golden diabolo, green bamboo, green bamboo, hairy bamboo, Yunnan bamboo, Menglun giant bamboo, black hair giant bamboo, Tai bamboo, Jiangzhu, thick ear de bamboo, Zhuang green bamboo, Malay sweet bamboo, long-tongued yellow bamboo, stone green bamboo, Ma bamboo, Square bamboo, yellow bamboo, big Buddha belly bamboo, green bitter bamboo, pear bamboo, big-eyed bamboo, pink bamboo, pole bamboo, tendon bamboo, yellow hemp bamboo, boat bamboo, long branch bamboo, black bamboo, etc.
What impressed me most is the Buddha's belly bamboo, which seems to have become a kind of landscape bamboo. The stems and nodes between the bamboo joints are round and convex, just like the belly of the Smiling Buddha. There is also a kind of bamboo that grows prickly branches. It is very tall and can grow to more than 10 meters high. It is what I have been looking for, because I used to have such a piece in my hometown, and I have always been curious about what kind of bamboo it is. This time I have been searching for Baizhuyuan for a long time. Maybe it is called Longzhu? But later when I checked the information, I found it should be called thorny bamboo, but there is no one in Baizhuyuan.
Next to Baizhu Garden is the vine garden, a paradise for vines. Many of them didn't know each other, but a tour guide happened to come over and talked a few words to gain some knowledge. There is a big tree with a white trunk here called balsa wood. It is the lightest wood in the world. The quality is also relatively good and it is a good wood for shipbuilding. It seems to be digressing, haha, but I really can't remember even one kind of vine.
③ [Wangtian Tree]Come from Fujien Garden, pass through Baicao Pavilion and Nanyao Garden. Many herbal medicines, such as a nursery, include the well-known plantain, flying centipede, Tianqi, etc. There is also the Dragon Blood Tree, which enters randomly.
Medicinal wild rice was also seen. Lao Yuan completed the hybrid rice project through wild rice.
Moving forward, there are sandalwood trees, which are particularly inconspicuous. I didn't expect them to be so popular in the world. Their value is really high. The heart of the tree can be used as medicinal materials, and the trunk and roots can be used to extract sandalwood essential oil. They are also raw materials for spices and excellent raw materials for carving handicrafts. Your whole body is a treasure.
Next to it is the Wangtian Tree. What a name! It is extremely high, 40-60 meters, so you need to look up. This is a symbol tree species of tropical rainforests, the Dipterocarpus family. Currently, it is only distributed in Yunnan, Guangxi, Hainan, and Medog in Xizang. It is an important basis for proving that my country has a natural tropical rainforest.
There are other Dipterocarpus plants next to it, all of which are very tall! Oh, my God, the big trees in the tropical rainforest are all giants. Compared with the forests less than 10 meters high we see in the mountains and forests of the southeastern coast, they are far from the sky.
There is also a jacaranda tree next to it, which really makes people feel friendly. I come from Shantou, and the city flower is phoenix wood, also called red jacaranda. The flame-like red color when the phoenix flowers bloom is impressive. The jacaranda is originally native to South America and is now introduced in several southern provinces in the country. I still remember seeing the jacaranda introduced in Kunming. The roads in full bloom are beautiful on the screen. I really like this plant. It's beautiful red, cool blue and purple, and its soft feathery leaves.
④ [Big Legume Plant]For beans, the concept is all kinds of red beans and soybeans, all of which are small herbs. And this Javanese flower bean is amazing. There are also such towering trees in the legumes. I have seen Wangtianshu and lamented that it is tall, but I didn't expect Javanese bean to be inferior. It is tall and big, but it has such a cute scientific name.
This one, there should be several trees? It's too big! Looking up the information, I found that the realm, phylum, class, order, family, genus, and species was so big that I still didn't understand it. Regardless, I'll call them big legumes.
Pinnate leaves, much like the type of leaves of mimosa, similar to Jacaranda and Jacaranda. But in fact, there are many differences that cannot be studied in detail. There are also sea red beans nearby, with larger feather-like leaves. They are all called beans. Oh my God, such a big tree, because the fruit seeds are beans, they are all called beans, haha.
④ [Baihua Garden]Near the Baihua Garden, there are several lotus ponds connected to several pavilions, giving the feeling of Jiangnan gardens.
There are lotus flowers in the pool, which coincides with the blooming flowers. I especially like the big pink lotus flowers! In addition, various scorpion-tailed banana plants are also planted in the surrounding area. Different colors and shapes are similar and orderly. They are so beautiful. The most shocking thing is a big pink flower that is more glamorous than roses. It is called porcelain rose. It is the flower of Torch Ginger!
Here is the phoenix flower. There are also several flame trees, which look like phoenix trees from a distance. They are also green leaves and flame-like red flowers, and their trunks are stronger and more powerful. Secretly, I also found mimosa, just on the grass by the pool. There were a lot of them. I gave them a hand and left satisfied.
On the roadside to the landscape platform, I saw locust trees. I learned about it in primary school textbooks and said it could be used to make soap. What impressed me the most was the hard thorns on the tree trunk. They were so scary that you could stab and bleed if you accidentally touched them.
④ [Energy Botanical Garden]Go up the stairs, cross the observation deck, and go to the Energy Botanical Garden. I thought it was coal resources or something, but later I realized that it meant energy storage. Various sugar palms, oil palms, and granulated coconuts are all very tall palm plants that can bear a lot of fruits. Of course, there are also our common food crops and plants, which are also full of energy.
There is also a sausage tree here. It's strange. The fruit is a long strip like sausage. There is also another big legume plant, the sticky leaf bean, which is very similar to the Javanese bean curd.
There are two small artificial attractions here, one is a piston, which I don't know what it does, and the other is a measuring column. This is definitely worth seeing. It's too careful. Rows of shelves are filled with various seeds in glass cans on them. The seeds all come with their own energy, so are these used to calculate the energy of the seeds? If these energy sources can partially replace or even replace coal and oil resources, that would be amazing! This is a good green energy source, as long as sunshine and rain are enough.
The sunshine in Banna is so fierce that I can't stand it! It was open in the open air, so I really couldn't study the measuring column well, so I could only hurriedly read it and leave. Suggestion, whether it is sunny or rainy, bring an umbrella to visit this tropical botanical garden. It is too hot and sunning. When I returned to Nan'ao Island, I was even said to have turned dark. Everyone thought it was from the island, but they didn't know it was from Banna.
④ [Borneol Fragrance Garden]Giant tree forest! It looks ordinary, but each tree points directly at the desire of the sky, and is as high as the sky test! Here are various Borneolaceae plants like Wangtianshu, all of which are as tall as 40 to 50 meters. The trunk is slender and the plant density is high. It was the first time in my life to walk in such a garden made of tall trees.
If you have ever seen a picture of the white birch forest looking up from an angle, it feels like lying down and looking up, but it would be nice to stand here and look up!
Ahead is the Strange Flowers Garden. As the name suggests, there are quite a lot of strange plants here. There are turtle bamboos, elephant leg trees, all kinds of fleshy, and many strange plants that you can't remember. The park is not big and it takes a quick stroll.
③ [Suzhou Railway Park]Cycas are similar in shape to Alsophila spinulosa. They have also existed on earth for hundreds of millions of years. They are both living fossils.
Cycads are also commonly known as Iron Tree, and this is what the flowering of Iron Tree means! This cycads garden is not large in area, but there are many types of cycads, ranging from height to height to thickness. The leaves of cycads are long and hard, making them particularly painful to stab. The leaves are all green and full of vitality. Many cycads have something like a flower ball growing in the center. This should be the flowering of the iron tree.
In the Cycas Garden, I felt like I had traveled back hundreds of millions of years ago, and I was afraid that a few dinosaurs would suddenly appear and take me away.
[Banyan Garden]There are so many kinds of banyan trees. In my impression, banyan trees are the ones found in eastern Guangdong and southern Fujian! But in fact, it's just one of our most common banyan trees.
There is also Indian fig. I used to think this tree has big and interesting leaves, but I didn't expect it to be a kind of banyan tree. There is also a fig whose trunk can bear fruit, called Ficus juguoensis. It is rare to see plants with fruits growing on the trunk. It is said to be a competition for discrimination. In order to allow animals to better discover flowers and fruits, it is conducive to pollination and spreading seeds.
My understanding of banyan trees has been improved to a higher level here. There is one kind called strangulation fig, which grows around other big trees. After it grows, the previous big tree is almost surrounded by the trunk of the strangulation fig. It is really magical, and it has the visual sense of animal predation.
The banyan tree also has air roots. The common banyan tree has the main function of serving as a pillar. Unlike the root of strangulation, it can be stuck under the soil to absorb nutrients and water. In addition, there is also the root phenomenon, and there are several trees in the eastern district.
[Palm Garden]The garden with the highest looks, I definitely want to come here so that I can release a movie!
The park is wide and has a special variety of palm plants, with varying sizes and heights, which is dazzling. Many young ladies are taking pictures beautifully. Coconut, betel nut, palm, etc., as well as energy plants, sugar palm, oil palm, granulated coconut, etc., are all palms. Some trees are covered with red fruits, which make people salivate. These palm plants are scattered across a large grassland, making the garden green and making people feel comfortable.
The pandan tree next to it grows in water, with its roots stacked like a net. It is really strange. There is one in Tianzai Bay, Nan'ao Island. It grows on the mountainside. It also has their magical fruit. It looks too much like pineapples. It is said to be edible, but it looks like it is poisonous.
It is also next to the Water Botanical Garden. The most famous thing here is Wang Lian. It can bear the weight of an adult, that is, people can stand on the lotus leaf! Unfortunately, the season was wrong when I went there, and it had not sprouted yet.
There are really many varieties of palms, big and small, tall, short, fat and thin, and all kinds of leaves. It's really eye-opening!
On the other side of the panacea tree, connected to the pool, there are small lotus flowers of various colors, which are particularly beautiful. White, purple, red, and pink, it's a lotus feast. The palm garden is next to the aquatic botanical garden. Unfortunately, the season is not right. I didn't see the super large royal lotus leaf and didn't have the opportunity to try the feeling of standing on the lotus leaf.
[Mulan Hall]Re-understand orchids. In my impression, orchid flowers were bought for decoration during the Chinese New Year and festivals. They were in pots, such as Phalaenopsis. Phalaenopsis of all colors are really beautiful.
Here, I saw the original growth environment of orchids. They live on big trees in tropical rainforests, and the branches of many trunks are a favorite growing environment for orchids. The overall environment here is humid, and most orchids are arranged to be planted on wooden piles.
There is also the magical pitcher plant! There is also the Nine Deaths Soul Returning Grass?! It seems that I have picked good medicine in the wild while playing "Immortal Sword"!
Bi [Sky Garden]There is a tree at the entrance of Mulan Hall called the Sky Garden, which is a common phenomenon in tropical rainforests.
Tropical rainforest is hot, humid and lively. There are countless plants of all kinds, all competing for the sun, rain and dew, which leads to differential competition. The eight immortals cross the sea and each demonstrates its abilities! Big trees grow rapidly and emerge early to strive for the top resources; vines have first-class climbing ability and often use these big trees to climb to the top and share the results, such as green radish. You would never have imagined that when it is small in the indoor environment, it will become abnormal when it reaches the natural environment. When climbing high, the leaves can expand to dozens of times the original small leaves. There is also an example of orchids, which drill through these gaps. By the way, their habits have been adjusted and they like to grow in the shade and dampness. There are other small plants that can also grow on big trees, not to mention moss and lichens.
Therefore, hanging gardens have become a very typical tropical rainforest phenomenon. Don't miss it!
[Eastern Primitive Tropical Rainforest]Walking hard from the West District to the East District, it takes more than 20 minutes to walk. Although it is 4 p.m. on a hot day, it still feels hot. Only the tropical rainforest is worth seeing in the eastern district, seeing the natural phenomena of strangulation and root roots. The East Side is a natural area of tropical rainforest, unlike the West Side, which is artificially transplanted. The second area in the Eastern District is completely inaccessible, which is boring. The third scenic spot, the Green Stone Forest Scenic Area, is too far away and there is not enough time, so we will give up. During this period, I called Menglun Bus Station and confirmed that I got off work at 6:30, but there was also a bus at 7:30.
In the tropical rainforest natural area, various tall trees grow scattered and grow. The staff work tirelessly to introduce the big trees with cards so that we can easily distinguish the tree species. The trees are all very tall. If you look up, there are also lianas that grow upward through the tall trees. Some of the vines are as thick as an arm.
Tropical rainforests, I have seen them countless times in documentaries, but I didn't expect to be immersive in Banna! There are twenty or thirty kinds of big trees here, which really let you deeply experience what green trees are like! The heat of Banna can hardly be felt in this rainforest, only the comfortable coolness.
There is a strangulation fig tree here, which is very big and messy. Looking at those disorderly and powerful banyan trees winding upwards, I was very shocked and lamented the power of nature.
Another phenomenon is the plate root, or the plate-shaped root of tall plants, used to assist in standing. Tall plants are usually tens of meters high and are super strong men in big trees. In order to stand firm, their roots will turn into plates, which will help enhance stability. There are a total of 3 trees in this area that are more obvious.
When I arrived in the second area of the Eastern District, there were almost no tourists, and there was really nothing to do or see, so I recommended not to go. By the way, I learned that Panzhihua is kapok and the flower of Guangzhou. On the return journey, I passed through Guoshu Garden in the West District and felt ordinary.
On the return journey, I passed through Guoshuguo Garden and felt so ordinary. But I was really surprised to encounter these iron trees! Iron Tree King, it is thousands of years old!
It was a day to walk and see things in the eye, but I felt full of gains. Recalling what I saw on that day, I was so satisfied to see so many plants! It's especially great, even more powerful than South China Botanical Garden!
Let's guess, what is the vine below, the green leaf one?
Green Luo! Green Luo! Green Luo!
Dai specialtiesGo back to the Youth Youth Hostel to rest, then go to Gaozhuang Xingguang Night Market, and go to Jiasuo Village to eat roasted chicken and pineapple rice.
About 20 pieces of pineapple rice and about 20 pieces of half roast chicken. Pineapple rice tastes sweet and sour, but mine is obviously not hot enough. It's just slightly warm, and the feeling is not very good. Pineapple rice may just be cooked completely first, left there, and then heated up after the customer orders. Roasted chicken, I can't praise it, partially burnt, but it tastes good. When dipped in powder sauce, it is very spicy and delicious. These two are representatives of Banna's very characteristic delicacies.
Starlight night marketCross the night market street to the Dafo Temple. When you enter the ticket inspection gate of the scenic spot, you can see the bright lights and stars from afar! No wonder it is called Xingguang Night Market, a poetic and romantic name.
There are many tourists, and they are crowded with each other. There are many stalls that are lively, with everything selling snacks and accessories, singing in the square, and performing in bars. There are many young sisters and big sisters here wearing Dai costumes to take photos. Being able to take photos is definitely very popular here. Wearing Dai costumes and taking a beautiful Dai girl costume at iconic attractions such as the night market and the Shada Pagoda should be one of the must-do things for many young ladies when they come to Banna. When I went to Manting Park the next day, I could also see young ladies wearing Dai costumes taking photos everywhere.
There are two groups of singing singers below the Dajin Tower, one of which is more interactive and invites the audience to sing, which is very lively. Find a place to sit down, listen quietly, and sing along when you are happy. From time to time, I use my camera to record the excitement and happiness.
Here, I met two Chaoshan fellow villagers from Huilai. When I saw them taking photos, I also helped take some photos after saying hello. However, it is very difficult to shoot at night without a good camera position and auxiliary lighting. Without a tripod, there is no way to have a long exposure. You can only lower the exposure time to improve IOS, and the noise is obvious.
Take some photos of the lively night market. In addition to young ladies wearing Dai costumes taking photos, resident singers and tourists, there are also stall owners engaged in local tourism business and tourists.
Go down to those stalls with big umbrellas and visit the busiest night in Banna.
Go to Manting Park and Dafo Temple in the morning, and go to Dai Garden in the afternoon. In the evening, go back to the city to eat Dai family music, then go to the Xingguang Night Market and visit the Mekong Six Countries Aquatic Market. This is a very Dai flavor day. Look at the resplendent Dai temples, visit Dai villages, watch tourists experience the grand occasion of the Dai Water Splashing Festival, and then eat an authentic Dai meal.
manting ParkManting Park, the local royal garden, Premier Zhou also came here to splash water with the Dai people to commemorate it. Tickets are 40. Entering the park is a large square with sculptures where Premier Zhou participated in splashing water! There is a white wall next to the statue, and the book reads "Premier Zhou's Participation in the Water-Splashing Festival in 1961." Next to it are tall and thin palm plants. The weather is really good, statues, white walls, palms, blue sky, it feels like summer.
Behind the square, there is a guide map, and the route is planned to go to the Dai King Palace first. Those buildings are all resplendent buildings. Although the palace of the king is only one or two floors, it is also magnificent.
There are also enlarged versions of elephant foot drums and other musical instruments, as well as graphic displays of Premier Zhou's participation in the Water-Splashing Festival.
The palace used to be an imperial garden, with water, flowers and bridges. It is also like being in a tropical rainforest, with many tall trees and trees weaving a shade. Walking through it, you can't feel the heat of summer. Going inside is the City Heart Tower and the Orchid District. The tower is not big, it is a typical stupa in Southeast Asia. Orchids, if you look closely at their branches, you will see that they look like dendrobium, with thin and long strips that almost all grow on big trees.
It's amazing to meet two other fellow villagers here. Every time I go far, I can meet fellow villagers. The last time I was in Mohe, Heilongjiang, and I also heard Chaoshan dialect in Kashgar. On the other side of the Imperial Garden is the Leaf Garden, which is actually the Bougainvillea. If you see too much of this, you don't go shopping.
The most impressive thing is the Royal Elephant Cafe in front of it. The building is the red, beautiful and thick of the karst landform. There are several phoenix trees with blooming flowers. There is also a white tower next to it.
This should be the easiest place to publish films in the entire Manting Garden. Many young ladies in Dai costumes took pictures here. The wide stairs and walls, the roof-shaped building, and the red flowers and green leaves of phoenix wood are all very beautiful together. The costumes of Dai girls and Dai buildings are very representative cultural elements of Banna, just like peacocks and elephants.
Ahead is the cruise ship terminal and the octagonal covered bridge. There is a royal lotus garden there with a lot of lotus flowers and more African carp. This is the main ingredient of the local specialty grilled fish with citronella. The cost price of an ordinary tilapia is less than 10 yuan, but it can be made into dishes worth tens of yuan, and the profit is not low! There is a tree next to the lake, which is very similar to Phoenix wood, but with larger leaves and pink flowers. There is a waterfront promenade resting area next to the lake, where tourists feed and swans and tilapia compete to snatch it.
Go back through the Wind and Rain Covered Bridge to reach the White Tower and the Earth Goddess.
The white tower, the main tower in the middle is the tallest, surrounded by small towers of the same shape but shorter shape, forming a large circle. The white tower body has been baptized by wind and rain, and has a layer of mottled traces of time. In this way, there is gray in the white, which makes it more ancient and more sacred.
Next to it is a sculpture of the Goddess of the Earth. It is said that she pulled out a strand of hair and flooded it, which washed away the demons and ghosts that threatened Sakyamuni. Therefore, this sculpture is related to water. There are many faucets on the base, spitting water, and there are gold pots underneath. Then, many young ladies took photos of holding water with their hands.
Zongfo TempleMoving forward, the Earth Goddess is the main Buddhist temple. There are many halls, large and small, of which the main hall is the most magnificent. There is a large golden Buddha statue in front of the main hall, and there are also bells and drums on the left and right sides, as well as gold and silver towers.
The main hall is very high, the interior is cool, and there is a platform in the center. You have to take off your shoes when you go to worship. The outdoors is really too hot. It can really make people dizzy in the open air. After turning around, they quickly come out.
When I came out, I met the two Chaoshan villagers and learned that the next scenic spot would be the Dai Garden, so I discussed whether I could join me. The Dai Garden is also one of the purposes of the trip. It is a bit far away and the ride is also a lot of trouble. It would be best if you can use their car to go there together and make up for the cost.
Just as they were about to set out, the two fellow villagers asked if the White Pagoda was the main Buddhist temple? Well, of course not. So the group went to the main Buddhist temple again, and the little brother was responsible for driving to the entrance of the main Buddhist temple so that he could get on the bus nearby after shopping.
Dai gardenDrive to Dai Garden, 30 kilometers, 1 hour drive.
It's a bit of a walk from the door to the Splash Square, about 15 minutes. If I go around alone, I will be more free. I will visit several villages in the Dai Garden and see the local people's houses, temples, and local people's lives. The reason why it is called Dai Garden is because it is composed of several well-preserved Dai villages, and has added Splashing Square, Peacock Garden, Dai Song and Dance Theater, etc. to become a scenic spot with a ticket of 45 yuan.
The first floor of the Dai wooden house is basically inaccessible. It is located in the tropics, has many wild animals, and the first floor is also highly humid. That's why this architectural choice is made, which is a bit like a hanging building. There are many tropical fruits here, including jackfruit and mangoes.
When we reach the trail in front of the Water-Splashing Square, we have a strong Dai charm. There are sculptures of Dai compatriots wearing Dai costumes and splashing water, as well as elephant sculptures. Walking to the square, at 1:30, the water-splashing ceremony had just begun. The staff, all dressed in Dai costumes, marched around the pool and dressed up. It was so lively.
After the host read out the congratulatory message, everyone began to pour water into the pool. I went to Thailand on a group tour before and went on one trip, but I won't play this time. Hold the camera in your hand, watch the excitement, and capture the happy moments among the people who splashed with water. The host also knows how to play, splashing water according to local customs, then splashing water on each other in teams, and then targeting certain people. For example, splashing water on people wearing yellow clothes in a unified manner. It is very interesting. Everyone splashed hard, had a good time, and was full of blessings.
After splashing water, we went to the Peacock Garden next to us. There were many peacocks, but unfortunately they were all in big cages.
Elephants are seen on the road for tourists to ride.
Next to it is the Dai Theater, which has Dai ethnic dance performances. It is not bad, all songs and dances.
Subtropical Fruit Experience Trading AreaOn the return journey, I encountered heavy rain. In tropical rainforests, there is usually another shower every day. The rain is fierce and fast, and it goes away quickly. When we arrived in Jinghong City, it really became sunny again.
Go to the subtropical fruit experience trading area and take a look at tropical fruits. Mangoes are big and sweet, as well as durian, jackfruit, fire ginseng fruit, lychee, bayberry, watermelon, etc. Most of them are also found in Guangdong. Mangoes are more attractive. The three of us each have a box, 10 kilograms and 50 yuan free shipping, about six or seven, and the express delivery will arrive in about four or five days.
Le Mengdai JialeOut of the fruit center, go to Xishuangbanna Tourist Resort to eat Dai family music, which is affordable. A Daijiale set meal is about 150 yuan. It is a full table. There are grilled tilapia with lemongrass, pineapple rice, fried vegetable omelette, fried pig skin, vermicelli, roasted chicken, etc. It is really beautiful. There are many varieties of dishes, but there are still few hard dishes. Unlike the Northeast, where people can exclaim hard dishes every day. This Dai family dinner is more eye-catching overall. As for the actual satiety level, opinions vary. The young driver told us that among Dai people, there are more boys surnamed Yan, and there are more girls surnamed Yu. No wonder we see many farmhouses whose names bear Yan or Yu.
Visit the Starlight Night Market againAfter eating, go to Xingguang Night Market. It is next to the Lancang River, the longest river in Southeast Asia. It feels wonderful. There are many major rivers in China, but every time I cross these major rivers, I feel not as magnificent as I imagined. Perhaps it is because transportation is now developed. Imagine that hundreds of years ago, crossing the river required ferries, and you will definitely have more awe of these rivers.
It was still as lively as yesterday. This time, I traveled more with my fellow villagers. The Six Mekong River Water Market is at the southernmost end of the entire night market. It is as lively as the Shwedagon Pagoda.
The entire night market can be divided into three major areas. One is the street night market outside the Shwedagon Pagoda Scenic Area. There are many shops, merchants, as well as hawkers setting up stalls here, all of which are very lively. The other two are in the Shwedagon Pagoda Scenic Area. One is the Shwedagon Pagoda and the large square below. Each stall is shaded by a different color umbrella, which is particularly beautiful and has bright lights at night; the other is the Liuguo Water Market. Around this water area, with another light decoration, coupled with the neon flashing of buildings in the distance, the entire night market is even more dazzling like a galaxy.
Water market, you can go on water night by boat. Around the water, there are various patterns of blooming branches and scattered leaves at night. Some have neon gauze tent booths, various small stalls selling fruit juices, barbecues and accessories, and some sing on the stage. Two or three singers take turns singing Dai songs (which sound like Thai songs), and the audience cheered and jumped. It was really a lively night.
Across a few small bridges, there is a long snack street, connected to the Shwedagon Pagoda. The two fellow villagers bought lemon boneless chicken feet, Shiping wrapped pulp tofu, and Lao coffee. They were really foodies. What impressed me the most was the Shiping wrapped tofu. It's amazing. It used the local stewing method in Shiping County, Yunnan Province. The tofu made has a tough outer skin after roasting, and the tofu inside turns into a pulp shape. It also has a light aroma. Dip it into a sauce and eat it, and it will burst into pulp when bitten. It is really a great snack, and it can't stop one after another.
The stall owners are constantly busy, and the tourists are coming and going in an endless stream, which is very sad. I also run a B & B on Nan'ao Island in Shantou for tourism. In the past seven or eight years, I have welcomed and sent many customers. Some of them still have contact. In the vast sea of people, meeting them is fate. Thank you.
At the water's edge, a photo was taken with the words "Liuguo Water Market" as the background. This night market is brightly lit and crowded with tourists. It is definitely a must-visit attraction in Banna.
Louxia Barbecue ShopBack at the hostel, dinner and night market were not enough to fill my stomach, so I washed up and went downstairs to make skewers.
There are two Dai specialty barbecues here, and I chose one. They are all small skewers, including liver, intestines, various meats, and various vegetables. I ordered more than 10 skewers and then asked for two large cans of beer from the nearby canteen. It is a very traditional barbecue restaurant with no shop, only a platform for putting kebabs ingredients and an oven. It is not easy for the couple to be busy. The third night in Xishuangbanna, I cheer myself! The barbecue was delicious, but it was a little spicy, but fortunately the cold beer was strong.
D3 A brief exploration of local beliefsOn the third day, I got up at 9 o'clock. I didn't have any plans. I went to eat famous local snacks first, making Luda and lemon jelly. Then go to Mengle Dafo Temple. The main hall, the Buddha statue, the observation deck, the Buddha Pagoda, the water-splashing activity, and the peacock flying activity are very worth a visit.
Bingbing Liangliang, this is a specialty dessert snack shop recommended by many people. Lemon rice noodles and Paoluda are products with great local characteristics.
Soak Luda first, soak in frozen coconut juice and run dry bread slices, which is similar to making fried dough sticks with soy milk! In this hot summer day in this tropical area, it's super comfortable to drink cold drinks!
Lemon rice noodles soon arrived, a large plate. When I saw the product, I was a little confused. It turned out that it was a small rectangular rice noodle with the texture of Xi'an cold rice noodle. I thought it was a thin strip and long column shape like the Jiangxi rice noodle, haha. It was my first time to experience eating spicy and sour iced rice noodles in summer. It was great. It was cold and sour, and it felt like it could relieve the heat. So Hula took a lot of mouthfuls, but after a while, it felt something was wrong. It was so spicy that my scalp went numb. This spicy level is not inferior to Sichuan and Chongqing, my God! Poor cup of Paluda, which was regarded as an ice-cold drink to stop spicy food. Rice noodles, I gave up before I ate half of them! It's too spicy!
It takes about half an hour to ride to Mengle Dafo Temple. It's so hot along the road. This is the first city I have ever seen with water vapor sprinklers on green trees. It was strange at that time, why did I feel that some road sections had water vapor coming towards me. It turned out that it was a sprinkler installed on the green trees. Xishuangbanna is so hot that it requires spraying water and steam to cool down, while Turpan is so hot that it requires drip irrigation through water pipes under green trees. It is not easy. These areas with very different climates.
Mengle Dafo TempleBuy it at the individual ticket sales window for 120 yuan, but online shopping is cheap. At the Great Buddha Temple, you can see the Big Buddha and the Shwedagon Pagoda on the mountain from a distance when riding. Especially the style of Thai Buddhist temples and palaces, the Grand Palace and Zhalong Temple are typical examples.
① [Dafo Temple]The gate is very attractive. The resplendent roofs are a major feature of Dai temples. Even the gates are the same, especially the golden decorations on the eaves, which have several floors, making people unforgettable!
Entering the gate, there is a scenic guide map. It is mainly divided into three parts. One is the palace, Buddha statue, golden tower, and observation deck of Dafo Temple. The whole is a mountain temple that rises up to the top, one is the water-splashing square, and the other is the Peacock Park. The latter two are considered unexpected gains. I just planned to come to Dafo Temple to see the Buddha.
Here is the memorial site of local hero Payazhen, with an introduction to his historical achievements and a statue of him. The locals are really attentive to commemorate their heroes at the entrance of the scenic area and let tourists understand the heroic leaders of the Dai people.
If you go up the stairs, you can see the main hall. There are several stairs here, and the dragons on both sides of the stairs are also interesting. There are seven dragons on both sides of the lowest staircase, and the number is reduced to five upwards, then three, and the last one.
What culture is this? These dragons, like the dragons in the Grand Palace in Thailand, have multiple heads. The palaces in Thailand remember that they are a big dragon and the dragon claws are small heads. Buddhism in the Dai area is spread from the south. The dragon in the temple refers to Naga, which is the dragon god in the Lancang River (Mekong River). Thailand also enshrines this dragon god. It is actually the same as the dragons in China, but the shape does differ.
Above is the main hall, which is slightly majestic. The roof is also stacked in several layers. This architectural style is still different from the Daxiong Hall in China. In China, there is a floor after eaves, but here it feels like there are several eaves on each floor. When entering the store, all the pillars and walls were painted with gold paint, which looked so bright and heroic. There is also a large platform in the center of the main hall, where you can use slippers to worship. The roof of the hall is very high and the hall is particularly cool.
Coming out from the back door of the main hall, I saw the Earth Goddess again, which should correspond to the Earth Goddess in Manting Park. She was a witness to Sakyamuni's good deeds and helped Sakyamuni drive away the demons and ghosts who wanted to murder him. Behind the goddess are long steps, and behind the steps is the large Buddha statue. There are small halls on the left and right sides of the main hall, Changshou Hall and Zhoushi Hall.
Go up the steps and finally reach the bottom of the Buddha statue. The Buddha statue is very tall! It is 45 meters high and must look up. Standing at the foot of the Buddha, you can't shoot the whole body of the Buddha, so you can only squat down and shoot up. Buddhism is really a magical existence. Such a spiritual belief has gathered so many people's hearts and helped everyone build such a large Buddha statue together. The actual execution power transformed into spiritual power is really shocking.
Behind the Buddha is a glass viewing platform. You can overlook the entire Jinghong City and have a wide view. There is a Bodhi tree under the observation deck, which is said to be a direct descendant of the Bodhi tree when Buddha had an epiphany. There is also a dragon in the shape of a cobra next to it. To enter the glass observation deck, you need to buy disposable shoe covers for 5 yuan per pair.
Behind the observation deck is the large stupa being repaired. From the foot of the mountain, you can see the large Buddha statue and this stupa from afar. It is resplendent and splendid, scattered in the shape of lotus flowers, and large and small stupas are crowded together, making it spectacular. Unfortunately, he couldn't enter and could only watch from afar.
The weather is so hot. After climbing for this period, I rest three or four times, and I am sweating profusely. I can squeeze out a bottle of water from my clothes. The tropics deserve their reputation, more than 30 degrees, and the body temperature is 5-10 degrees hotter than that of Nan'ao Island. I must have been tanned in Banna these days.
Rest in the shade next to you. Splashing is past 2 o'clock, and releasing peacocks is at 3 o'clock. There is no rush. There are several phoenix flowers next to it, and the flowers are in full bloom. Phoenix flowers are the flowers of Shantou City and can also be seen everywhere in Banna. The green feathery leaves and dazzling red flowers are popular. Looking back at the golden phoenix trees in Shantou seem to be rare. However, it was precisely because it was a flower in Shantou that I had an initial understanding of Phoenix wood.
② [Splash Square]Take a break and go to the Splash Square. Many tourists have already taken their seats. After watching the dance performance, the general idea was that the local princess was kidnapped by the king of the shanzhai, and then the princess, with the help of her maid, fought against the king and finally won. Dancing is pretty good.
After the dance, there is a water-splashing activity, which is different from the Datong event in the Dai Garden yesterday, so I don't watch much.
③ [Peacock Garden]Go to the Peacock Garden and wait for the 3 o'clock peacock flying performance. I found a place to rest first, but I was awakened twice by the cries of a peacock.
The first one is at the top of the tree. It's rare. The peacocks I saw before were pacing in a small area on the flat ground. I couldn't imagine that they could fly to the top of the tree. I almost forgot that peacocks are actually a flying bird. It's a big bird.
Another cry was in the green belt next to it. Walking in and seeing that there was also a peacock lying here. There were two stones next to him. Pick one closer and sit on it slowly. It was only more than one meter away from the peacock. I didn't dare to act rashly and watched quietly. The peacock also looked at me and initially judged that there was no danger, so he crawled to rest and tidied his feathers. This is the first time I have seen a peacock so close. Use the camera telephoto to make it clearer. The peacock sometimes stretches its neck and looks around curiously, sometimes turns back to tidy the feathers on its back, sometimes shrinks its neck and closes its eyes to take a nap, which makes people's hearts melt.
I really like animals from the bottom of my heart. When I have the opportunity to interact, I will interact politely, and when I don't have the opportunity, I will observe and appreciate them from a distance. My own animal affinity is good. When I go out to play, I touch camels in Zhangye Colorful Danxia and cattle on Weizhou Island. They are all livestock that are naturally raised in the wild environment.
At 2:45, people began to gather in the open space. At 3 o'clock on time, peacocks flew down from the mountainside to eat. Five or six minutes later, peacocks flew down from the sky (gliding) to eat. It was really spectacular. With so many large birds, hundreds of them came down at once, which was an eye-opener. The sports camera photographed the entire process, and the SLR captured many details, which was perfect. The big bird glides down from the sky with its wings spread out and flapped its wings a few times before landing to provide buffer. The feathers are bright in color, just as beautiful as air dancers coming off the stage.
Mengle Dafo Temple is also a tourist attraction worth visiting in Banna. It is a representative of local Buddhism, including the Shwedagon Pagoda, the main hall, the Buddha Buddha, as well as the Dai people splashing water and flying peacocks. It is a very comprehensive attraction, but the ticket price is slightly higher than 100+.
I went back to the hostel after 3 o'clock to pack my luggage, and then rushed to the airport. The plane flew north and looked down on Dianchi Lake from the sky. Yunnan, a hot land, is colorful!
Yunnan is really a hot land! And Xishuangbanna is a special representative among them!
Tropical climate has created one of the few rare natural tropical rainforest areas in my country. Dai compatriots have lived here for generations. The Water-Splashing Festival is well-known. The special costumes are the envy of many young girls. Various splendid temples, the dazzling Gaozhuang Night Market, colorful Dai food and tropical fruits, as well as elephants and peacocks. These are all worth your visit to Banna!
