On January 26, 2018, on the afternoon of the parent-teacher meeting for her daughter, she set off for Xishuangbanna, a rainforest with 13 ethnic minorities.
Let's start with a set of magical landscapes in the rainforest:

Amazing rainforest landscape

Single tree and forest: There is a tall tree called Daqingshu in the tropical rainforest of Xishuangbanna. Due to the damage to its huge branch cortex, aerial roots will grow on the injured parts under humid conditions. After these aerial roots grow into the soil, they quickly absorb water and nutrients in the soil, and soon grow up to become "trunks" supporting thick branches. These "trunks" range from dozens to hundreds, forming the spectacle of "a single tree forming a forest".

Da Ban Gen: Why do these trees in tropical rainforests form Ban Gen? These trees in the tropical rainforest are not only tall, thick and very heavy, but are also mostly shallow-rooted plants. At the same time, they also have to endure the test of tropical storms. Therefore, in order to solve the problem of "top-heavy and unstable standing" and avoid being destroyed by wind and rain, they wisely grow some roots to support themselves. The plank root is formed by the abnormal outward secondary growth of the lateral roots of trees and is an additional supporting structure for tall trees.

Hanging garden: Epiphytes in the tropical rainforest are of various shapes and colors, hanging on tree trunks and vines, and are known as the "Hanging Garden". In order to gain living space, these epiphytic plants usually avoid thick tree layers, climb high branches, and fully and effectively capture the sun. During the flowering season, they will form the gorgeous landscape of the sky garden in a colorful manner.

"Flowers bloom on the treetops and fruits hang on the branches" is a common pattern for us, but trees in tropical rainforests do not completely follow the rules. The flowers and fruits of some trees are not on the treetops, but hanging on the old trunks. In the tropical rainforest of Xishuangbanna, flowers blooming from the stems of trees can often be seen. This phenomenon is called "flowers growing from old stems". "Old stem flowers" is a special phenomenon in tropical rainforests and is the result of co-evolution of plants and animals formed during the long-term evolution of organisms. In fact, to put it simply, the trees in tropical rainforests are too tall. If flowers bloom on high branches, they will exceed the range of insects and cannot pollinate. Blooming on old stems, suitable height, insect pollination.
Arboretum
Also called jackfruit, typical of old stems

Tabao tree: It may have been a bird who brought a seed and landed it in the center of the tower. It may have been a seed blown by the wind that germinated over time and grew into a big tree. Of course, it may also be that the bird ate a banyan tree seed and didn't digest it. While walking leisurely on the tower, I poop big, and then I grew and sprouted...

Tree wrapped tower:

Tree wrapped tower: This is a landscape in the Tropical Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The branches of the trees wrap the tower and wrap tightly around it

strangulation
Some tree species of the genus Ficus Moraceae often use strangulation to "dominate, kill their hosts and replace them" in tropical forests. They are the "green killers" in tropical rainforests. When animals carry the seeds of the banyan tree to the branches or cracks in the bark of the tree, these seeds germinate. Young banyan trees can produce adventitious roots and behave like epiphytes. As the banyan trees continue to grow, their adventitious roots intersect and merge with each other, gradually wrapping and tightening the host tree, and using the host tree to support your body. When these banyan trees gradually became big trees, their roots and stems had completely wrapped around the host tree. The host tree eventually died due to tight transport tissues and lack of nutrients. These strangulation banyan trees eventually became independent. Big tree.

Climb the dragon and follow the phoenix
Three giant trees form a tropical rainforest wonder-the "plant remarriage phenomenon." Looking at the tree in front of me, as she gradually grew up, she left the childhood sweetheart she grew up with and threw herself into the arms of the taller and straight tree next to her. Nature vividly interprets the various views of human society. It is amazing. These three trees are all banyan trees with a tall crown, but a very shallow root system. In order to support the huge tree body, adventitious roots or air roots grow from the stems or branches. The tips of the air roots extend into the soil, and the underground part quickly grows into the root system, and the above-ground part grows into the tree trunk. When there are other trees nearby as support points, it does not hesitate to remarry and merge with the trees next to it. This is the unique banyan remarriage phenomenon.

Husband and wife tree:
This is a surprise given to us by the Wangtianshu. It seems to be a forked Wangtianshu, but there are actually two. One is Wangtianshu, and the other is the main companion tree species of Wangtianshu, the fluffy muscaria. Tree species that grow with the main tree species for a certain period of time and can promote the growth of the main tree species are called companion tree species. After seeing the cruelty of plant strangulation and feeling the warmth associated with plants, you will find that plants can never abandon each other and stay with each other for life.

Spring falls on dead trees: The real origin of the idiom "Spring falls on dead trees".
The various wonders on this fallen tree are the comprehensive phenomena of epiphysis, parasitism, moss, strangulation, root roots and other phenomena of the tropical rainforest. The tropical rainforest together forms a unique "sky garden". The upper half of this tree has already It is dead and is full of various small plants, which are dazzling, like a sky garden. These hanging plants are called epiphyte lamellae. There are also fungi that will not easily let go of every cycle of life. It's really "thousands of trees in front of the sick tree"

Jumping grass: Also known as Fengliu grass, the young leaves of the Jumping grass are very sensitive to sound waves. When the temperature reaches 25C and reaches above 70s, they will swing up and down continuously when stimulated by sound waves. It looks like a girl dancing. In order to see her dance, many curious tourists sang lyrical about her. I directly used my mobile phone to play the galloping horse. It moved. The blades really moved. It was blown by the wind...

Mysterious fruit that turns sour into sweet:
Mysterious fruit is one of the most amazing plants in the world. In the 1960s, when Premier Zhou Enlai visited Ghana, he brought back several extremely magical mysterious fruits and introduced them to the Banna Botanical Garden. Mysterious fruit contains a unique protein. After people eat the Mysterious Fruit, they will find it very sweet if they eat anything sour.
In 1968, scientists isolated this protein that can regulate human taste buds; in 2011, Japanese scientists discovered the chemical mechanism of the flavor change of mysterious fruit protein and found that the effect of mysterious fruit protein is related to the pH value in the mouth. Under normal circumstances, the pH value in the human mouth is close to neutral. In a neutral environment, the mystery fruit protein is located above the sweet receptor on the tongue, clings tightly to the sweet receptor and does not activate the sweet receptor, so the taste of the mystery fruit is nothing special. However, if you eat acidic things such as lemon and vinegar within 1-2 hours after eating the mystery fruit, the pH value in the mouth will decrease. After the mysterious fruit protein encounters acidic substances, the electrical properties of the protein change, which in turn activates the sweet receptor on the tongue, making the sweet receptor extremely excited, so people feel that all acidic things are sweet. Very amazing!
When we went there, we only saw theoretical knowledge and didn't see any fruit
The magical tropical rainforest gave us many surprises.
(The above popular science knowledge of the magical rainforest landscape comes from the introduction of the scenic spot and the Xishuangbanna Museum)

itinerary planning

Main itinerary: On the first day, Jino Mountain Village and Primeval Forest Park, and at night, Xingguang Night Market with double views in the west of Gaozhuang
The next day, the Dai Garden and Mantingyu Garden, and the evening "Lancang River·Mekong River Night" song and dance bonfire party

The Jino people are a nation that emerged from the drum in the prehistoric era. They are the last recognized nation in our country. They live in the vast tropical rainforest. Everyone knows that there are 56 ethnic groups in our country, but many people may not know that there are 56 different ethnic groups in the country only officially confirmed since 1979. On June 6, 1979, the 56th ethnic group was born in Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province-Jino. The Jino people stepped into socialist society from primitive society

When you come to Xishuangbanna, everyone will go and taste the grilled fish with lemongrass. Fish, choose fresh tilapia. After cleaning, fill the fish belly with ginger, garlic, onions, salt and other seasonings. Then tie the fish belly with citronella grass, and then clamp it with bamboo strips and place it on charcoal fire. Bake. The tilapia roasted in this way is not only fresh, sweet and delicate, but also has a strong aroma of spices and is very delicious.

I can't remember exactly which village I was in the Dai Garden. I had lunch at a Dai inn and then ran to the banana garden behind the house to show off.
There was a large banana forest that you couldn't see at all. This was the first time I saw bananas grow in such a big string and put them in a bag. I have only seen apples in the north when they grow on trees, put them in paper bags so that the skins are delicate.

Beautiful Dai girl
Dai, women, are all surnamed Yu, and their zodiac signs are all peacocks: men, are all surnamed Yan, pronounced "love". The zodiac sign is elephant. Elephants and peacocks are both mascots of the Dai people. We Han people have twelve zodiac signs: rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, chicken, dog, pig. I suddenly remembered an interesting story about my brother's zodiac when he was a child: I am in the year of the dragon, my brother is four years older than me, and the zodiac is a mouse. Grandma's zodiac is a tiger. My brother felt that this mouse was really not on the table. What's more, I always clapped and surrounded him and shouted: 'Little mouse, go to the lampstand... One day my brother insisted on changing signs with grandma. It seems that only a tiger can suppress me. However, grandma, she is too honest. She said that this zodiac cannot be changed and will accompany you for the rest of her life. As a result, the wronged child cried. Look, if this were the Dai people, children would have no trouble not liking the zodiac sign of mice.
Later, my brother liked the animal sign again. Why? This comes from another story told by my wise mother: the story of animals racing, and the top twelve were selected as the twelve zodiac animals, and the mouse was actually the first. It was definitely smart and intelligent...

Palm Garden-Prince of the Plant Kingdom

Wang Lian: It is a famous tropical aquatic ornamental plant. It has the largest leaves among aquatic plants in the world, with a diameter of more than 3 meters. The picture above was taken during winter, not Wang Lian's peak growth period.
Wang Lian's leaves are smooth, and the leaf edges are rolled up into a rib-like shape, like an umbrella stand, so it has great buoyancy and can withstand objects weighing up to sixty to seventy kilograms without sinking. I really wish I could sit on Wang Lian's leaves and experience it in summer
Wang Lian's leaves are large and flat, and the leaf margins are turned upright, looking like giant pans floating on the water! But the purpose of Wang Lian growing into a pan is by no means to "cook", nor is it to compete with the reflection of the full moon in the water. The huge leaves that are spread across the water surface can receive the maximum amount of sunlight and conduct photosynthesis to create nutrients without worrying about being burned by the naked tropical sun; the "pot edge" that is rolled up and covered with sharp thorns cleverly rejects the idea of aquatic animals wanting to bask in the sun and sleep on flat leaf surfaces.
Aren't you worried that you will collect a pot of rainwater when it rains? Hehe, Wang Lian had long thought of this problem. It made two gaps in the edge of the pot in order to easily drain water.

I am not so knowledgeable. The above introduction of Wang Lian's knowledge is reproduced from Science Popularization China

Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden, Chinese Academy of Sciences

If you want to deeply experience the infinite scenery of Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, it is recommended to live in the park. There is a Wanglian Hotel in the park (operated by the Chinese Academy of Sciences). The price is based on the hotel. Everyone can decide whether to stay in or not based on their own circumstances. If you are a photography enthusiast, the advantage of staying in the park is that you can take photos at your favorite attractions in the morning and night when there are few tourists and the light conditions are the best; if you go to the Botanical Garden in summer, you can also watch the dotted fireflies in the sky, especially recommended by families with Mengbao.
When I was a child, I caught grasshoppers and knew cicadas, but I never saw fireflies. I still learned about fireflies from the word "snow in the bladder. What an inspiring word. I really hope to go and see fireflies once in the summer.

A fairy tale world full of fireflies
After the annual Water-Splashing Festival, in the night sky after the rain and sunny at the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the dotted fireflies are like little elves performing magic, decorating the fairy tale world of "Huludao".
Male fireflies fly all over the sky. Their pulsed flashes are signals of love, flashing with different rhythms, looking for their lover. When the stars in the night sky are bright, it is impossible to tell where the stars are transformed from the brilliance of fireflies, and a fairy tale drama of the plant kingdom is being staged.

Sea red bean: Red heart Bodhi, commonly known as "lovesickness bean". If you look carefully, you will find that its red color has different shades on the edges and inside; at the innermost side, there is a "heart-shaped curve", which is really heart-to-heart.
Birds have lovesickness birds, trees have lovesickness trees, and beans have lovesickness beans. A poem by the famous poet Wang Wei: "Red beans grow in the south, and they will grow a few branches when spring comes. I hope you pick more. This is the most lovesick thing." Whether red bean refers to sea red bean, I am not sure. But I know that in addition to sea red beans, there is also a kind of acacia bean that is half black and half red-chicken mother beads. The difference between sea red beans and chicken mother beads is that one conveys love, the other kills. Lovesickness is poisonous

Wangtianshu: A large evergreen tree in the family Dipterocarpus family. Its tall and straight trunk stands upright on the canopy of the tropical rainforest, with a frame that can pierce the blue sky. Wangtianshu is one of the important symbols of tropical rainforests. In the past, some foreign scholars once asserted that "China is very short of Dipterocarpus and there is no tropical rainforest in China." However, the discovery of Wangtianshu completely overturned these conclusions and confirmed the existence of a true tropical rainforest in China.
