Those who visit the Tianning Temple in Yangzhou must know that there is a dock in front of the gate, which is built with stone blocks and a wide platform on the shore. The platform is connected to the ground with a ramp made of bluestone and stone strips. The slope is gentle, about 6 meters wide, with a total of 39 steps. There is a small pavilion built on the edge of the platform, in which stands a stone tablet with the three characters "Imperial Horse Head" engraved on it. Why write 'Royal Horse Head' when it is clearly a dock for boarding boats?

Originally, this Tianning Temple was not ordinary. It was a historical site and scenic spot that was first built in the Jin Dynasty. During the Kangxi and Qianlong periods of the Qing Dynasty, it served as a palace for the emperors to stay in, and could be called a state guesthouse at that time. The Kangxi and Qianlong emperors traveled south to Yangzhou and landed here.

Although Emperor Qianlong was a Manchu, he was passionate about Chinese culture and studied poetry, calligraphy, and painting. According to some statistics, he wrote over 40000 poems in his lifetime and enjoyed writing calligraphy. Almost every place he went left ink marks. Nowadays, when we travel, we can see his calligraphy and inscriptions at many scenic spots.

The three characters "Yu Ma Tou" here were written by him. After finishing, he also found that he had misspelled them, which was a bit awkward. However, flattery has been a necessary skill for officials since ancient times. Officials who accompanied him came out to smooth things over, exclaiming that his writing was too good and wonderful! The "stone" next to the code word is a stumbling block and must be removed! The emperor's writing of 'Royal Horse Head' is simply too sacred!

After listening to it, Qianlong was greatly pleased and wrote another poem: "The small boat painted the beams lightly along the stream, the bells and chimes in the deer garden had lingering sounds, and the water in front of the gate was the Hangou River, with veins constantly reciting ancient emotions

Nowadays, Yangzhou is even more picturesque, with beautiful scenery everywhere. Therefore, a tourist route has been opened here that leads directly to Shouxi Lake, allowing tourists to take a painted boat and enjoy the beautiful scenery of Yangzhou along the way to Shouxi Lake. This route is called the "Qianlong Water Tour Line".
