In March with fireworks, people flock to Yangzhou city, where Shouxi Lake, Daming Temple, Heyuan, Geyuan, Daming Temple, and Dongguan Street are all popular spots for tourists to check in. But there is another place that is not as famous today and is slightly away from the central urban area of Yangzhou. It is a famous scenic spot that ancient sages flocked to, and this is Zhuyu Bay.

Back then, the towering Zhuyu Tower witnessed the unchanged prosperity of this place during historical changes. Zhuyu Bay is located in Wantou Town, the northeast suburb of Yangzhou City today. Wantou Town was once known as Zhuyu Village and Zhuyu Bay due to the flourishing of the Zhuyu tree. Because the ancient canal turns here, it is also known as the mouth of the bay or the head of the bay. Zhuyu Bay is the gateway for the ancient canal to enter the city of Yangzhou from the north. Emperor Yang of Sui visited Yangzhou three times, and during the Qing Dynasty, the Kangxi and Qianlong emperors passed through here every time they went on a southern tour. Cornus flowers bloom, filling the bay with fragrance.

In the Tang Dynasty, there was a poem that said, "Half a line of kites fill the trees, and people return alone on the New Year's Day. Falling flowers follow the flowing water, and we all arrive at Zhuyu Bay."

Zhuyu Bay is connected to the Huai River to the north and the Yangtze River to the south, and is known as the 'Yi River controls the Huai River'. Its location is extremely important. Just because Zhuyu Bay is located at a strategic location and is an important stronghold for guarding the Grand Canal, every time there is a battle, this place will inevitably become a battleground for military strategists to attack and defend. At the end of the Southern Song Dynasty, the Yuan army invaded Yangzhou and its main force was stationed here. In the late Ming Dynasty, during the resistance against the Qing Dynasty, Shi Kefa also dispatched troops from Sichuan and Ying Yanji to settle in Zhuyuwan. The Taiping Army defended Yangzhou and launched an attack on the Qing army, with Zhuyu Bay being one of the most important strongholds.

Imperial relatives, nobles, literati, and scholars visit Yangzhou, which is also a common place for settling down, relaxing, and having banquets.

Due to the interweaving of ships shuttling from south to north in Zhuyu Bay, it is busy day and night. The bend is also equipped with a night light that never goes out all year round, guiding the direction of the ships that keep flowing. To this day, the two stone pillars that used to hold navigation lights are still preserved here, silently annotating the great world cultural heritage of history.

To this day, Zhuyu Bay remains a popular destination for families to relax and unwind. It is not only a picturesque 4A level scenic area and a historical and cultural heritage park, but also the largest zoo in Yangzhou. Visitors from all over the world, regardless of gender or age, can find their love, belonging, and enjoyment here. The green trees, grass, and flowers, mischievous monkeys, noisy flamingos, adult swans, and childish ugly ducklings are all eye-catching and beautiful scenery.
