Everything was just right, just in time for the epidemic to dissipate and we could leave home, just in time for our child to return from school and reunite with the whole family, just in time for an expensive spring rain, and we had a short vacation. So we booked the train and hotel, and we had our family's March trip to Yangzhou amidst the misty rain.
We depart on Sunday, avoiding the peak tourist season in Yangzhou over the weekend. The high-speed train takes less than 4 hours and arrives at noon. The homestay booked in advance, Yilu Inn, is located next to Renfengli, with a particularly good location. It is not far from Shouxi Lake, Geyuan, or Heyuan, making travel extremely convenient. The inn has a small courtyard that is neatly cleaned up, and there is also a woodblock experience hall. Rest at night is extremely quiet.
On the first day, the sunshine was warm, and I decided to go to a garden, He Garden, in the afternoon because I was preparing to swim in the rain at West Lake. Tickets can be purchased online in advance, with a combined ticket of Shouxihu, Geyuan, and Heyuan, priced at 165 yuan per person and valid for 2 days. Yilu Inn is within a half-hour walk of the scenic spots, and the temperature is suitable without rushing, so we walked all the way to the garden.
The park is located at No. 10 Yanfu East Road, northeast corner of Guangling District, Yangzhou City, Jiangsu Province. In the 23rd year of the Jiaqing reign of the Qing Dynasty (1818 AD), Huang Zhiyun, the salt merchant general of the two Huai regions, expanded the original Ming Dynasty "Shouzhi Garden" into a residential garden.
The garden is famous for its layered stone art. The rockery made of bamboo shoots, lake stones, yellow stones, and Xuan stones in the four seasons of spring, summer, autumn, and winter integrates the principles of garden design and landscape painting. It is praised as a "unique example in China" by the garden master Mr. Chen Congzhou. It will take about an hour to travel.
As soon as you leave the park, you will arrive at Dongguan Street, which is the concentration of Yangzhou's handicraft industry. The streets are bustling with listed wells and numerous businesses, with all kinds of trades and thriving business. I personally don't really like this atmosphere, it's just passing by in a hurry.
We will continue walking for half an hour and stop checking tickets at 5 o'clock before entering He Yuan. Heyuan, located at 66 Xuningmen Street, Yangzhou City, Jiangsu Province, also known as "Jixiao Mountain Villa", is a Chinese classical garden building built in the mid Qing Dynasty and is known as the "first garden of the late Qing Dynasty". Built by He Zhizhen during the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty, the Pianshi Mountain House is a masterpiece of Master Shitao's mountain stacking.
A lot of bamboo is planted in my garden, which is famous for its year-round rockery. The architecture of He Garden adopts a combination of Chinese and Western styles. He Yuan is suitable for shooting portraits, while there are many good angles for shooting gardens in individual gardens. As for which one is suitable for sightseeing, it varies from person to person, but the sightseeing time is not very long.
