Fireworks in Yangzhou in March. As the "Capital of World Cuisine", Yangzhou is a dream destination for many people, both in terms of scenery and cuisine.
After the New Year, tourism in Yangzhou has returned to before the epidemic, with many tourists. The most famous Slender West Lake, with a ticket price of 100 yuan, is still crowded with tourists. It is difficult to find a hotel room, and several well-known specialty restaurants, such as Yechun, Quyuan, Yangzhou Banquet, etc., require reservations and queues.
Go to Yangzhou and eat until you go crazy. When traveling to Yangzhou, you have to forget about losing weight.
I checked in countless delicious foods in those days, such as Yangzhou Yanshou West Lake Store, Yechun Royal Wharf Store, Quyuan Tea House Welcome Store, Su Hui Vegetarian Cuisine, Lanpu Tea House, 7 Eat 8 Bar Sunshine Restaurant... I didn't dare to weigh myself when I came back.
When I arrived in Yangzhou, my phone photo album was filled with pictures of delicious food. Although I went there for the sake of food and checked in at many restaurants, I also visited many places for digestion.
Spending five days and four nights to experience Yangzhou is already quite profound.
In those days, I checked in at places such as Jianzhen Avenue, Shouxi Lake, Geyuan, Daming Temple, Dongguan Street, Zhuyuwan Scenic Area in Yangzhou City, Heyuan, Han Guangling King's Tomb, and the Three Knives Museum.
Since Yangzhou was connected to high-speed rail, it has become even more popular. Shanghai to Yangzhou takes less than two hours, and transportation can be said to be very convenient.
Yangzhou is poetic and exquisite.
In addition to Huaiyang cuisine, there is also the must visit Slender West Lake in Yangzhou, and these three places are the most worth recommending to you.
1、 Cherry blossom viewing destination - Jianzhen AvenueIn what year was this Qionghua Terrace established? I never saw Qionghua blooming here. Thousands of years of famous flowers should have been exhausted, and searching for flowers still leads to old flower terraces. Qionghua is the city flower of Yangzhou, but it doesn't bloom until April.
However, it is currently the cherry blossom season in Yangzhou, and the blooming flowers on Jianzhen Avenue are incredibly brilliant. Don't miss it. The flowering period is short, only about half a month.
It is said that the cherry blossoms here have pure bloodline and come from the ancient capital of Nara, the second hometown of the great monk Jianzhen.
Jianzhen traveled far across the East to spread Buddhism. On Jianzhen Avenue, his statue appeared at first sight, reflecting his unwavering determination to endure hardships and symbolizing the selfless state of the preacher.
Yangzhou is the hometown of Jianzhen. In order to commemorate him, the local people have built Jianzhen Memorial Hall, Jianzhen Library, Jianzhen Square, as well as Jianzhen Avenue and other buildings and streets named after Jianzhen. Among them, Jianzhen Avenue is one of the most beautiful main roads in Yangzhou.
Recently, the cherry blossom filled Jianzhen Avenue has become a unique scenery in Yangzhou city. Thousands of cherry blossom trees are planted on the entire Jianzhen Avenue, blooming brilliantly.
The most beautiful thing about cherry blossoms is not when they bloom, but when they fall. A gust of wind blew by, and a petal rain fell. In a few days, it should be the most beautiful time. If you are fortunate enough to see it, you will be even luckier.
In the warm spring, many citizens of Yangzhou stroll under cherry blossom trees. I suggest you go early in the morning. In the afternoon, there were crowds of people, and the background of the photos was all tourists.
There are also many check-in points and various delicious foods here, all with high aesthetics, creating the most beautiful cherry blossom season.
Come to Jianzhen Avenue, you can also rent a Hanfu here, walk under the flower trees, and capture the beauty of blooming flowers with your camera. The price is 150 yuan for two hours, which feels pretty good.
That day, I also encountered two flash mobs, showcasing the gentle and graceful beauty of Jiangnan women to the fullest. But it's only available on weekends, and it's not scheduled, so we can only rely on luck.
2、 Millennium old temple - Daming TempleDaming Temple was named after its initial construction during the reign of Emperor Xiaowu of the Southern Song Dynasty.
When you come to Yangzhou, you must come to the millennium old temple - Daming Temple, where you can learn about the legendary story of Jianzhen's eastward journey to Japan.
Daming Temple, located on the mountain and facing the water, has a long history and is a religious tourism holy site that integrates Buddhist temples, cultural relics, and garden scenery.
Throughout history, the Daming Temple has produced numerous eminent monks. Kings, sages, poets, and literati have all gathered here.
There are a few big characters at the entrance: Huaidong First View, very eye-catching in the sunlight. This is a national 4A level scenic spot, with a peak season admission fee of 45 yuan, but it is definitely worth a visit.
Before Jianzhen sailed to Japan, he served as the abbot of Daming Temple, so the most distinctive building in Daming Temple is the Jianzhen Memorial Hall, designed by architect Mr. Liang Sicheng.
There is a 'Qiling Pagoda', which is nine stories high and magnificent, and can be seen from almost every angle. To the west of Pingshan Hall is a classical garden full of wild mountains and forests - Xiyuan, quiet and elegant, very joyful.
The Pingshan Hall in Daming Temple was built by Ouyang Xiu, a great scholar of the Northern Song Dynasty, when he served as the governor of Yangzhou. The hall is surrounded by flowers and trees, and the courtyard is quiet.
Walking into Daming Temple, I unconsciously walked lightly and spoke softly, afraid of disturbing this tranquility.
I also watched a "Zen Tea Performance Show" at Daming Temple, vividly telling the story of Jianzhen's journey to the east.
Starting from the first year of the Tianbao reign of the Tang Dynasty (742 AD), Jian Zhendong went through more than ten years of hardships and successfully completed his sixth journey to the east. He introduced Chinese Buddhism, medicine, language and literature, architecture, sculpture, calligraphy, printing, and other fields to Japan, making important contributions to the development of cultural exchanges between China and Japan.
I'm amazed at how persistent this is!
3、 The First Garden of Late Qing Dynasty - He GardenGardens require gradual appreciation.
I have been to countless gardens, and the winding corridors and horse riding towers in He Garden are very distinctive. They are truly representative works of Yangzhou gardens in the late Qing Dynasty and the finale of private gardens in Yangzhou.
Known as the "First Garden of the Late Qing Dynasty", He Garden, also known as "Jixiao Mountain Villa", is located at 66 Xuningmen Street in Yangzhou City, Jiangsu Province. It is a Chinese classical garden building that was first built in the mid Qing Dynasty.
Heyuan is a national key cultural relic protection unit and a 4A level tourist attraction. The whole garden is divided into four parts: East Garden, West Garden, Garden Residence Courtyard, and Pianshi Mountain House.
I really like a hexagonal pavilion in Dongyuan, leaning against a pink wall with the words' near month 'written on it. Imagine the ancient people here tasting wine, reciting poetry, and admiring the moon, it's really pleasant.
In this season's He Garden, the new greenery under the sunshine, and a tree blooming in the corner of the wall are extremely beautiful in sight.
The compound corridor of He Yuan is unparalleled in domestic gardens and is known as the "embryonic form of Chinese overpasses". It is worth a visit just for this reason.
This 1500 meter complex corridor is a rare landscape in Chinese gardens, showcasing the beauty of the circular changes and interconnectedness of Chinese garden art.
The most impressive feature is the Jade Embroidery Tower, which adopts the traditional Chinese concept of cascading buildings and incorporates Western architectural techniques.
The furnishings inside the Jade Embroidery Building feature French style louvered doors and windows, Japanese style sliding doors, French style fireplaces, wrought iron beds, and more, showcasing the collision of Chinese and Western cultures.
Many movies and TV dramas are filmed in He Yuan, such as "Journey to the West", "Dream of the Red Chamber", "Smoke Lock Heavy Tower", "Qianlong Dynasty", etc.
Overall, Heyuan is not big. Taking photos and strolling around for two or three hours is enough. Compared to the individual gardens in Yangzhou, this place has fewer people and is quiet, so I really like it.
Although my garden is the mansion of a salt merchant and one of the four famous gardens in China, there were too many tourists when I went there that day, which made me lose interest in visiting.
Yangzhou is indeed a beautiful city, and April is the most beautiful season. How to play in Yangzhou? Take a leisurely stroll and eat with peace of mind.
The above three places are truly worth recommending. If you are traveling to Yangzhou, don't miss them.
