Tell me about this trip
When it comes to Yangzhou, the first thing that comes to mind for many people is, 'Old people bid farewell to the Yellow Crane Tower in the west, and fireworks set off in Yangzhou in March.' This small town located north of the Yangtze River has its most beautiful time in March.
In early autumn, Yangzhou has willows and flowers that are different from spring. It looks more peaceful, and the moderate temperature seems to make all things in the world enjoy the peaceful time here.
Starting from Nanjing, it only takes 50 minutes to get here, which is different from previous trips to Yangzhou. This is a journey through time and space, soaking in hot springs at an ancient style resort, learning about the historical stories of Guangling at a museum, approaching Yizheng, and experiencing the tranquility after a volcanic eruption.
Shouxihu Hot Spring Resort
Many people only know that the hot springs in Tangshan, Nanjing are very famous. In fact, in Yangzhou, which is not far from Nanjing, the hot spring resources are also very abundant. Recently, the weather has turned cool and it has entered early autumn, so we are also planning to stay at a hot spring hotel in Yangzhou. After taking a look, the hot spring resort next to Shouxi Lake has a good environment, with an antique style and a quiet environment. Coming here did not disappoint.
The hotel is mainly a single family villa, and the overall environment is the most enviable. The presidential suite we live in has a reception hall, four bedrooms, and each bedroom has a large area. There is a courtyard, where you can read and chat, or soak in hot springs. There is a bathing pool, which can accommodate about 6-8 people.
As soon as I arrived at the room, the butler helped to prepare the hot spring water, as well as a handkerchief and some roses. This courtyard is similar to a quadrangle courtyard, but at the end of the hot spring is a fence surrounded by a pavilion and a large osmanthus tree, which is very fragrant this season.
In addition to osmanthus flowers in the courtyard of the room, you can also see many in every corner of the hotel, including in the public hot spring area. This season is the time when osmanthus flowers are in full bloom. The fragrance is more fragrant than perfume.
The decoration of the hotel leans towards traditional Jiangnan residential architecture, with an overall Chinese style feel. The living room prepares seasonal fruits such as oranges and dates every day, as well as some free beer drinks.
Guests can soak in the hot spring pool in the suite or go to the public hot spring area. The advantage of going to the hot spring area is that the bathing pool is more diverse, and each has different functions. If there is a sign, it will be famous, and you can see which one you want to go to.
The public bathing pool area is not like a swimming pool. Dozens of people soak together. Many small bathing pool are separated independently, and there are many vegetation separated. There is also basic privacy, and the environment is also good.
There are specially prepared towels beside each bathing pool. You can always take them yourself, which is very convenient. In autumn, the temperature of the hot spring is quite appropriate, about 37-40 degrees. Especially in the evening, you can enjoy the moon while soaking in the hot spring, and then chat. It's very comfortable.
There are several bathing pool that can be brewed. Four sprinklers can be used together. It feels like taking a shower, but it's still cool. For many girls, you can take many beautiful photos.
Yashan Geological Park
Although I have been to Yangzhou four times and visited many places each time, experiencing different ways of playing, this time I realized that Yangzhou also has a geological park, and it is a volcanic geological park.
This is the Naishan Geological Park in Yizheng. It takes about 40 minutes from Yangzhou to reach the scenic area. This is a volcanic crater formed after a volcanic eruption. Although it has been a long time and the crater is no longer obvious, the many stone pillars formed after the eruption are quite meaningful.
In Yashan, the most famous attraction we visit is undoubtedly the first one, which is the Bundled Stone Slope. As the name suggests, it means tying stones together. The reason for choosing this name is not out of thin air, and once you arrive here, you have no doubts. The piles of stone pillars really seem to be tied together.
Bundling stone slopes is a special phenomenon that can only be formed by volcanic eruptions. It can be seen that piles of stone pillars stand very neatly, usually in the shape of regular pentagons or hexagons. All of them are formed during volcanic eruptions when the external temperature is very low and rapidly cools down, scientifically known as basalt columns.
Beside the Bale Rock Slope, there is a small scenic spot called Feilai Stone, which is different from the Feilai Stone in Mount Huangshan Mountain. The stone is much smaller.
There is a coffee bar next to Baoshi Slope, which can be considered a place for resting and chatting. The coffee shop has a strong sense of design and is also a popular photo spot for internet celebrities. Both the exterior walls and interior decoration design are very beautiful.
You can order some milk tea and snacks inside, and the price is not expensive, basically around ten or twenty yuan. The taste is still very good, and the key is that it can be used as a prop for taking pictures, taking some beautiful photos. It is a must-have for girls.
The french window on both sides are very suitable for taking pictures and punching cards, especially when the sun comes through the window in the morning, the light is good, and the photos taken are also very beautiful.
There is a lawn in front of the coffee shop, which has turned golden in early autumn. Compared with the dark gray coffee shop, it has a strong autumn atmosphere. The small electric scooter next to it is a sightseeing bus in the scenic area. Because the scenic area is quite large, it is best to buy a sightseeing ticket to avoid walking a little.
Shanmeng Stone is also a place full of story colors, where you can see many stones of similar sizes. It is said to be related to Yu Gong's relocation of the mountain in the past, but now this small waterfall is the biggest attraction.
There is a wooden suspension bridge here, which is also a landmark attraction in the scenic area, suitable for taking some ancient style photos. I guess there should be girls who come here specifically to take Hanfu photos.
On the iron chain by the bridge, there are many beautiful wishes from tourists, which can be seen in many scenic spots. However, the iron chains on this chain are all red, so they are more eye-catching and can be seen from a distance.
These black rocks are formed during volcanic eruptions. One characteristic of volcanic rocks is that they are light, mainly because the rocks have more holes and lower density. They can be seen in many volcanic geological parks and are also a tool for rubbing feet.
This is an arc-shaped joint, which is a vertical columnar joint heated by hot basaltic magma, or a joint that becomes a plastic arc-shaped joint under the action of gravity before it has completely cooled down. Arc joint is one of the four main joint forms in the column group of the Na Shan Xuanwu rock.
Bailongquan is a spring that flows out of the water all year round in Naishan, and it is also a magical place in Naishan. Here, you can see a highly designed building with forests and bamboo forests on all sides, as if hidden deep in the mountains. The environment is very good.
This is Bai Longquan Tea House. Although Yashan is a volcanic geological park, there is also a famous type of tea. Here, you can enjoy the tranquility of nature, bask in the sun, drink tea, read books, and be very comfortable.
The french window of the tea shop are also very beautiful. Every afternoon, the sun penetrates, and it feels warm in winter. For this tea shop, I think the most selling point is the environment. Within a few hundred meters, it is basically covered by green plants, which is very quiet.
At noon, I hadn't finished exploring the scenic area yet. I experienced the local clay stove and made celery dumplings, which was quite a meaningful trip.
Currently, Yashan is planning to create a resort area that is close to nature, so not only can local stoves be used for cooking, but also outdoor barbecues can be done. It is said that there will be RV campsites in the future, and so on. Overall, it is quite rich.
In the direction towards the museum, you will pass by a relatively high grandstand where you can see most of the mountains and the villages at the foot of the mountain. As early autumn approaches, you can already see colorful forests, but fortunately the weather is still good and there are no clouds in the sky.
You can also see some basaltic rock columns here. In fact, volcanic eruptions formed these basaltic rock columns more than 5 million years ago. It should be noted that there are not many places in the world where such rock columns can be formed, and Naishan is one of the top ten volcanic rock columns in the world.
There must be many curious people like me about why these rock columns are basically pentagonal or hexagonal. That's because the dense magma formed by volcanic eruptions, when rapidly contracted and cooled, will crack along an angle perpendicular to the direction of lava flow, forming a very regular geometric shape, as if it were artificially processed.
The last attraction we visited was the Naishan Geological Museum, which is the first geological museum in the Yangzhou area. The overall appearance of the museum is very beautiful, and the building materials are also locally sourced, using Naishan stones and unique design concepts to create an internet famous photo area.
At the Naishan Geological Museum, visitors can not only witness the formation process of the universe and the Earth, but also learn about the wonders of the world's top ten volcanic rock columns. At the same time, they can also "travel" through time through the 720 ° Volcano Immersion Experience Hall, witnessing the changes caused by volcanic activity millions of years ago.
The Geological Museum includes entertainment projects such as the Cool Play Hall, Phantom Gallery, and Handicraft Workshop, all of which are open to visitors. For many children, they can participate in interactive projects. For girls, this museum must not be missed because there are too many places suitable for taking photos here.
The top of the museum is a very suitable place for taking portraits and landscapes. In spring and summer, the lawn is green, and in autumn and winter, the lawn is cash yellow. Paired with volcanic rocks, it gives people a sense of desolation in the north. It is difficult for tourists to imagine that there is such a place in Jiangnan.
There is also a place filled with colorful lights, and over time, each light will change color along with it. Each room has a different color, and with the reflection effect of the mirrors on all sides, it feels like entering a colorful fairy tale world.
In addition, there are also some internet famous walls that are suitable for taking photos and checking in, such as this divination wall. Overall, it is a geological museum that integrates science, interaction, entertainment, and photography, truly achieving the goal of combining education with entertainment. While traveling and playing, one can also learn a lot of geological knowledge.
Xi Shi Lou, the most authentic Huaiyang Cuisine cuisine
As the origin of Huaiyang Cuisine, whether you like it or not, you must try it here. Xishi Tower is the most representative restaurant in Yangzhou. The whole restaurant only serves Huaiyang Cuisine, which has been praised constantly on the Internet. So we also decided to eat and see what it is like.
There seem to be many shops in Xishi Building. We went to the shop next to Wanda, and the overall environment is quite good. The private rooms are also quite large, separated from each other without disturbing each other, and the sound insulation effect is also very good. Eating here is really a kind of enjoyment.
As one of the four traditional cuisines, Huaiyang Cuisine Cuisine focuses on the fine preparation of local dishes and uses aquatic products as raw materials. It can be seen that the raw materials used for cooking are basically found locally and do not seem to be advanced. But after being prepared, the dishes are exquisite in shape and mellow in taste, known as "the best taste in Southeast China and the best beauty in the world".
This is the famous signature lion's head. I have actually tried something similar before, but the taste is really worse than this. It is said to be made by hand chopping meat, with a good taste and a bit tender. It looks oily, but it is not greasy in reality. Inside is an egg yolk, which is very appetizing.
Huaiyang Hot Dried Silk is really only available in Yangzhou, Taizhou, and Huai'an regions. Even if it is available in other places, the taste is too different because it belongs to the category of soy products, so the overall feeling is quite vegetarian.
The famous Yangzhou fried rice and the Yangzhou fried rice I ate at Xishilou are really the most authentic. You can see that the rice is not glued together, and there are 10 kinds of accessories in Fried Rice, including shrimp, meat floss, etc.
The first time I really saw it, I was able to cut tofu into strips like this, as thin as hair, which could be used for threading needles. With ten or eight years of knife work, I couldn't do it. The soup cooked was clear and fragrant, and I felt pretty good.
Yangzhou Dual Museum
The Yangzhou Shuangbo Museum is a combination of Yangzhou Museum and Yangzhou Woodblock Printing Museum, located very close to the train station. You can go there when you arrive in Yangzhou or when you need to leave. Generally, 2-3 hours is enough, and you can go directly to the train station after finishing.
Yangzhou Shuangbo Museum is a national AAAA level tourist attraction and is open to visitors for free. However, it should be noted that most museums in China are closed for maintenance every Monday, so it is important to coordinate the time before visiting.
The Yangzhou Shuangbo Museum is very large, with three floors above and below. The museum has eight exhibition halls, including the Guangling Tide Yangzhou City Story Hall, Yangzhou Eight Eccentrics Painting and Calligraphy Hall, Ming and Qing Dynasty Painting and Calligraphy Hall, National Treasure Hall, Yangzhou Ancient Carving Hall, Chinese Woodblock Printing Exhibition Hall, Yangzhou Woodblock Printing Exhibition Hall, and a temporary exhibition hall.
Basically, let's talk about Yangzhou from ancient times. From ancient times to the present, Yangzhou has been relatively developed and has been a big city in almost every dynasty. Especially during the Sui and Tang dynasties, the basic city was the most developed place in China, equivalent to today's Beijing or Shanghai.
Among the unearthed cultural relics in the museum, ceramics are relatively abundant, and many of them are still of high value. Most of these cultural relics come from the Yuan, Ming, and Tang dynasties.
Because at that time, Yangzhou, as the most developed city in China, also attracted many foreigners to do business here, including merchants from the Persian Gulf region. Later, Marco Polo's travelogue also recorded the prosperity of Yangzhou.
This exhibition hall mainly consists of these ceramics, including bowls, vases, wine bottles, and so on. Most of them are fully excavated, each representing a dynasty or period, and can be judged based on patterns and styles.
Although museums are free, it is strongly recommended to ask for an explanation when visiting, otherwise you will really be confused and may not remember what has been explained, but without an explanation, you will probably gain nothing.
This is the National Treasure Hall, and there is one thing inside. This is the Yuan Dynasty's Jilan glazed white dragon patterned plum vase, which is now priceless. The mouth of the plum vase is small and the neck is short, the mouth edge is flat, the shoulders are plump and gradually smooth, and it gradually converges below the shoulders, slightly outward at the bottom. A dragon is carved on the belly of the plum vase chasing after a flame bead, with a pattern commonly known as the "Chasing Pearl Dragon Pattern". The dragon rings around the bottle, with its head tilted upwards and its horns slightly tilted back, and the longan protruding.
On the other side is the Woodblock Printing Museum, where you can experience the magic of woodblock printing up close, with front and back engraving, and then adding ink to print it out.
These were all printed using these woodblocks back in the day, and it can be seen that each character is very good, so writing this character requires a certain level of calligraphy skills. In ancient times, woodblock printing was roughly divided into three types: official seals, which were used by officials, and commercial seals, which were used for sale. If you want, you can go to the store to buy them.
This is the place where ancient merchants printed their seals. They carved them on site on the right and sold them directly in the shops on the left. Of course, not all characters can be engraved. As far as I know, the name of the emperor cannot appear.
Here, you can also personally experience handmade woodblock printing. The price is not expensive, only 15 yuan. You can print a sheet and take it away, which is quite commemorative. After painting the woodblock with ink, put a piece of white paper on it, and it's basically done.
There are also some people here who specialize in calligraphy, all of whom are very good at it. They can sell it to the public or write the content you want to write. The price is not asked, but it is estimated to cost several thousand yuan?
It took me about an hour and a half to explore the Shuang Museum, and I took a photo with the camera my friend brought. Although this is my second time visiting the Shuang Museum, I still feel that there is too much knowledge here, and I really can't understand it thoroughly without coming a few times. Walking along the long river of history, looking back at the history and culture of Yangzhou, this is truly an ancient city.
Yangzhou Banquet
Another Huaiyang Cuisine in Yangzhou was also very good. Just outside the Slender West Lake Hot Spring Resort, the restaurant was very grand, with a feeling of an ancient mansion. It is said that Zhang Tielin had eaten it the day before we went to eat it, and it seemed quite popular.
Yangzhou has always loved to eat river seafood and seafood. Many people may wonder why there are still many seafood in Yangzhou, which is not near the sea. In fact, before the Tang Dynasty, Yangzhou was a coastal city, and the coastline at that time was in present-day Yangzhou.
Old Goose, this dish can be seen wherever you eat in Yangzhou. Yangzhou people have an indescribable love for geese, just like Nanjing people like ducks and Sichuan people like hotpot.
Shaguo Grass Chicken Lion Head is also a must-have dish for Yangzhou banquets. There are many small lion heads, and with one grass chicken, the soup tastes delicious with a little oil, but not greasy.
This is shrimp and crab roe braised vermicelli. For those who like crab roe, they must not be able to resist the temptation of this. It has a soft and sticky feeling and tastes delicious.
Orange scented Australian Snow Beef is a very delicate beef with some flowers and plants. I have to say that compared with other dishes, Huaiyang Cuisine is really exquisite. At least it seems to have an appetite and a little sweet taste, but it does not affect the delicacy of the beef.
This is catfish, which is a fish I rarely eat. I guess it should be river fish because it has a lot of thorns, but you can really feel it. It's very fresh, and when dipped in sauce, it tastes more flavorful. It looks very nourishing.
On the whole, it is one of the best choices for tasting Huaiyang Cuisine. The environment of the store is also excellent, and the service is also good. There are some small snacks like raisins before eating, which is worth recommending.
Practical Guide
1. It is also very convenient to travel from Nanjing to the Naishan Geological Park. You can take the S8 subway to the terminal station and transfer to the K35 bus to get there.
2. Try to visit Shouxi Lake after November as the autumn atmosphere is stronger and the scenery is better. The ticket price has been reduced from 100 yuan to 30 yuan during the off-season, and there are also fewer tourists.
3. It's best to invite a tour guide for the Naishan Geological Park, as you can learn a lot about geology. Otherwise, it will be like a museum, shrouded in clouds and mist.
4. If you want to enjoy autumn, I recommend going to Shigong Temple. There are two beautiful ginkgo trees there, and you need to buy tickets.
5. The best place for night view in Yangzhou is Dongguan Street. Since I have been there several times, I didn't go this time. If you are going there for the first time, don't miss it.
6. If you want to see the panoramic view of Shouxi Lake, you can go to the Qiling Pagoda in Daming Temple, but there is an additional admission fee of about 20 yuan.
