The original name of the park is "Jixiao Villa". The name of the park comes from Tao Yuanming's return to the country,"leaning against the south window to express pride, climbing Donggao to relax the roar." It is called Jixiao Villa, because the owner of the park is surnamed He, and people are accustomed to calling it He Yuan. It was built in 1883, the ninth year of Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty. It was the last finale of Yangzhou's large-scale private gardens. Because of the unique and diverse architectural techniques, the compatibility of north and south in artistic styles, and the combination of Chinese and Western, it has become a classic representative of Yangzhou gardens and is known as the first garden in the late Qing Dynasty of China. Film and television dramas such as "Dream of the Red Chamber","Princess Huanzhu Part 2", and "Green Grass by the Riverside" have all been filmed here.

The overall zoning of Heyuan includes several major parts: residential buildings, back gardens and small gardens. It is a complete form of private gardens. Each part of it is independent and intertwined and penetrates each other, forming a living space that is different from inside and outside, convenient for both living and traveling, the unity of nature and nature, and the combination of Chinese and Western. The He family has a very close relationship with several well-known large families in modern Chinese history: they are relatives of Li Hongzhang, the minister of Beiyang, and Sun Jianai, the teacher of Emperor Guangxu, and share the same fate; they are also related by marriage with Weng Tongsu, another more famous teacher of Emperor Guangxu, and Zhang Zhidong, an important official of the Qing court and a representative of the Westernization Faction. He Zhige, the owner of He Garden, was successful in his youth and prosperous in his official career. He also secretly managed the salt industry and possessed huge wealth. At the age of forty-nine, He Zhiche resigned from his post in Huangde Road, Hubei Province and retired to Yangzhou. He invested huge sums of money and good materials to build this private garden.

Entering the garden, we first came to the East Garden. Compared with the West Garden, the East Garden can be said to be a prelude, so we didn't spend too much time here. Going south through the Book Building is the daily living place of the garden owner Huang Zhiyun. In accordance with the tradition of sitting in the north and sitting in the south, with a house in the front and a garden in the back, the southern part of Geyuan is the owner's living area, and the main entrance opens on Dongguan Street. Opposite the gate is a luxurious large eight-character ground brick carving wall. During the heyday of Geyuan, the Huang family had five mansions, titled "Happiness, Wealth, Longevity, Happiness, and Wealth", with a total of more than 200 houses of different sizes. Now there are only three roads to the east.

The front hall of the middle road is called "Han Xuetang", and it is also called the Cypress Hall. The Han School is the official ceremonial place of the Huang family. Dongguan Street got its name because the street runs from west to east to Dongguan City Gate. The gate of Dongguan is the location of Gulijin Ferry. Later, Lijin Gate was renamed Dongguanmen, and Lijin Ferry was renamed Dongguan Ancient Ferry. Out of this gate and across the road you will find the ancient canal.

Slender West Lake used to be a wide river channel outside Yangzhou, formerly known as Baoyang Lake. In the Qing Dynasty, emperors Kangxi and Qianlong visited here six times in the southern tour. The "Yangzhou Painting Boat Record" records that "in the 22nd year of Qianlong... famous gardens were built on both sides of the Taiwan Strait." At this time, the "Slender West Lake" changed from a river channel to a famous lake connecting various garden landscapes.

Slender West Lake is mainly divided into 14 major attractions, including Wuting Bridge, Twenty-Four Bridge, Lotus Pond, Diaoyutai, etc. It has the reputation of "the prosperity of gardens, the supremacy of the world". In 2014, it was also included in the World Cultural Heritage List.

[Twenty-Four Bridge]

"The green mountains are vaguely distant and the water is far away, and the grass in the south of the Yangtze River has not been adjusted at the end of autumn. On the bright night of the twenty-fourth bridge, where can the jade man teach him to blow the whistle?" This is the quatrain left to us by Du Mu, a poet of the Tang Dynasty. When I entered the scenic spot, I had been looking for which bridge the 24th Bridge was. I knew that I saw this single-hole arched stone bridge made of white marble. According to reports, the bridge has a total length of 24 meters and a width of 2.4 meters. There are 12 steps at each end, and 24 white marble carved columns on each side, with a height and a width of 2.4 meters. The data related to the bridge are related to the 24th Bridge. Is this the reason why it is called the 24th Bridge? On the east side of the bridge, there is a wall-lined yellowstone rockery and on the west side of the bridge, recreating the poetic meaning of Tang poetry.

[Xichun Terrace]

The word "Xichun" comes from Lao Tzu's saying,"Everyone is bustling, like climbing a spring platform." It means the bustling scene of people and people in front of Xichun Terrace. Xichun Terrace is the main building of the 24th Bridge Scenic Area, facing Xiaojin Mountain in a distance. It is also the "Chuntai Bright Moon", one of the "24th Scenery" in Yangzhou. Legend has it that Yangzhou salt merchants once celebrated Emperor Qianlong's birthday here, so this scene is also called "Chuntai Birthday Celebration". The tiled roofs of all buildings in Xichun Terrace are all made of green glazed tube tiles, which are in contrast to the yellow-tiled Zhu Dong on Wuting Bridge in the distance and the jade bowl body and the gold roof of the White Pagoda.

When I came to Yangzhou, I always had a feeling that the ancient poems I learned when I was a child would always jump out unconsciously. I didn't see the ducks swimming in the Slender West Lake, but I also remembered the saying "The Spring River Plumbing Duck Prophet" here really. There are too many ancient poems left here, and people have competed to speak for Yangzhou through dynasties. It is really a famous historical and cultural city ~

The beauty of flowers competing for each other in spring always makes people admire it. The beauty of spring in Yangzhou's Slender West Lake creates a poetic conception. It's very pleasant to stroll along the bank of Slender West Lake in the early morning of spring. The cool morning wind gently blows the willow trees on the bank. Dancing, snow-white catkins dotted the lake like snowflakes, and the lake seems to have bloomed, attracting ducks to come and play. It's so happy.

[Wuting Bridge]

Wuting Bridge was built in the 22nd year of Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty and has a history of more than 200 years. This bridge was built by Gao Heng, the salt inspector, to welcome Qianlong's second southern tour (1757). Because it is shaped like a blooming lotus flower, it is also called the "Lotus Bridge". There are five wind pavilions with southern characteristics built on the bridge. There are treasure roofs on the pavilions, ceilings are painted inside, and wind chimes are hung outside the pavilions. The bridge body of Wuting Bridge consists of rolling holes of different sizes and shapes. Wuting Bridge is not only a symbol of Yangzhou Slender West Lake, but also a unique sight among national scenic spots.

The white pagoda hidden by the green trees seems to contain secrets, and you can see the wonderful man beside the willows on the bank. [White Tower]

The white tower is 27.5 meters high, and below it is the waist of the Sumeru Tower. It has eight sides and four corners, and three niches on each side. The niches are carved with twelve zodiac statues. Legend has it that Emperor Qianlong visited Yangzhou Slender West Lake by boat for the sixth time and saw the scenery around Wuting Bridge. He said with regret: "It's a pity that a white tower is missing, otherwise it would look very similar to the spring shade of Qiongdao in the North Sea." The speaker was indifferent to the listener, and the wealthy Yangzhou salt merchants immediately spent 100,000 taels of silver to buy a pattern of the Beihai White Pagoda with the eunuch. That night, they built a white pagoda with white salt bags. This is the story of "building a tower overnight" that has been passed down in Yangzhou to this day.

The entire blowing platform has neither complicated arches nor the grandeur of carved beams and painted buildings. Instead, it is painted with plain oil on the eaves, making it look simple and unpretentious. The blowing platform was built during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty. The original intention of the designer was that the band would play in the blowing platform to add to the fun when the emperor was visiting the lake. Unexpectedly, the Emperor Qianlong came here and felt that it would be more suitable for fishing, so he became interested in fishing. This time, his men were extremely busy, and the salt merchants in charge quickly secretly selected sailors and sneaked into the water. Whenever Qianlong lowered the pole to fish, the sailors would hang the live fish one by one. Qianlong raised the pole and jumped, and everyone was happy.

Round cave doors are opened on three sides of the blowing platform. In the round cave in the north, you can see the sparkling light of the Wuting Bridge lying horizontally, while in the oval cave in the south, you can just see the majestic white tower. The door is used to borrow the scenery, which is known as the "Three Stars Arch Photo". It is an outstanding example of the use of scenery in my country's gardening skills.

If we have morning tea, we can set an alarm clock at 7 o'clock to get a number on the first floor, go back to the room to wash or catch up on sleep, and wait until the number arrives before eating. Don't really be too happy. We can only make it for lunch when we come back from Slender West Lake, but don't panic, we can also order morning tea and refreshments in Quyuan for lunch.
