1. Preface
The poem "Fireworks fall under Yangzhou in March" has been engraved in my heart since I was a child, but I have never had the opportunity to go there. This year's Qingming Festival holiday decided to visit Yangzhou next time and see her beautiful appearance.
Let's get to know Yangzhou first: Yangzhou was called Guangling, Jiangdu, and Weiyang in ancient times. It has a long history, bright culture, prosperous commerce, and outstanding people. Located in the middle of Jiangsu Province, at the intersection of the Yangtze River and the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, it is a city in the Nanjing Metropolitan Area and a city in the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration. It is also one of the first batch of historical and cultural cities in China. The beautiful scenery of Yangzhou in spring is famous all over the world because of the poems written by the poet immortal Li Bai.
Yangzhou is not big and suitable for a two-day or three-day tour. It was initially decided to go on April 3 and return on April 5. Hurry up and book round-trip high-speed rail tickets and hotels online. It's really difficult to book tickets for the Qingming Festival holiday. The direct ticket from Wuhan to Yangzhou has not been booked, so we can only transfer at Nanjing South Railway Station. The ticket from Yangzhou to Wuhan has been completed after many twists and turns. The hotel is booked at Jiangnan 'an Smart Hotel on Jiangyang East Road. Pay attention to the weather in Yangzhou. It will light rain on April 3 and sunny days on the 4th and 5th. Compared with the continuous rainy, cold and humid days in Wuhan, the weather in Yangzhou is really strong!
Let's take a few photos first for everyone to enjoy.

2. Say goodbye to the Yellow Crane Tower in the morning and arrive in Yangzhou in the afternoon.
The ancients needed to take a boat to go to Yangzhou, but now we take the high-speed train and arrive in more than four hours. The high-speed railway on April 3 is G1722. The train to Hongqiao in Shanghai leaves at 8:00 from Wuhan Station. I got up and got ready. I went out on time at 7 o'clock and took a taxi to Wuhan Station. Fortunately, although the weather was gloomy, it did not rain, and the way was smooth. I arrived at 7:30 and felt the holiday atmosphere. There were so many people traveling.
There is a long queue of cars at the west entrance of Wuhan Station
Wuhan Station has a hollow design. After entering the station, you can see the situation on the platform. There are flyovers built on both sides, which have not been used for safety reasons. Here's a complaint: Wuhan Station is one of the earliest high-speed rail stations in China. It was designed by French and domestic companies and has a novel shape, but it is just not practical. Due to the hollow design, the east and west entrances are connected to the outside. It is very cold in winter. Station personnel on duty have to wear coats, which is too hot to stand in summer. Station attendants rely on ice cubes and fans to cool down, reducing the waiting area, making it very crowded.
The waiting room is really too small
G1722, Harmony Red Flying Dragon.
There are no seats available
It kept raining on the road
Arrive at Nanjing South Railway Station at 10:27 and transfer. The waiting hall of Nanjing South Railway Station is much more spacious.
Stop and take the C3223, Nanjing south to Lianyungang intercity.
Arrive at Yangzhou East Station at 11:57. The flow of people getting off the bus was empty.
Take a taxi to your booked hotel. Arrive at 12:30.
3. Visit He Garden
He Garden, located at No. 66 Xuningmen Street, Yangzhou City, is also known as "Jixiao Villa." It is a Chinese classical garden building built in the middle of the Qing Dynasty. It is known as the "First Garden in the Late Qing Dynasty." It covers an area of more than 14,000 square meters and a building area of more than 7000 square meters.
Go to the hotel to put down your luggage, take a short rest, and head to Heyuan. I live not far from He Yuan. I walk there and solve lunch problems on the way.
There are many people visiting. Due to the rain, the photos taken were a little dim.
There are many peonies planted in the garden

It takes about two hours to complete the tour of Heyuan. Go out and take a taxi and head to Dongguan Street.
4. Dongguan Street
Dongguan Street is the most representative historical old street in Yangzhou. It stretches to the ancient canal in the east and Guoqing Road in the west, with a total length of 1122 meters. Dongguan Street used to be not only an important water and land transportation route in Yangzhou, but also a center for commerce, handicrafts, and religious culture.
Like old historical neighborhoods across the country, there are shops on both sides of the old street selling local specialties, tourism products, various snacks, etc. Stroll through it, feel the prosperity of the past, and find out the differences in Yangzhou's ancient streets.

The shape of the cruise ship is quite cute

The sign is very contemporary
The old department store now sells local specialties. Here we bought lotus root starch, pickles, pickled candies, etc.

There are still residents living on the street and a middle school. There is a newspaper box hanging in front of this old house, which is very contemporary and attracts little girls to take photos.

The climbing vines covered the walls
In the alley, the unlockable evening cherry blossoms in the ancient house have emerged from the wall

The night by the canal is more beautiful
After playing Dongguan Street, I took a taxi back to the hotel to rest. It's a busy and stressful day, and travel is like this.
5. Daming Temple, Guanyin Mountain
Daming Temple is located in Shugang, the northwest suburb of Yangzhou City. It is the oldest temple in Yangzhou City and a national key temple. In the third year of Xianfeng of the Qing Dynasty (1853), Daming Temple was once again destroyed by war. The existing building was rebuilt during the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty (1862-1874). During the Tang Dynasty, Master Jianzhen presided over the temple and traveled east to Japan from here.
Before coming here, I learned from the Internet that cherry blossoms were blooming on Jianzhen Road, so I had breakfast on the morning of the 4th and took a taxi to Jianzhen Road to try my luck. As expected, the cherry blossoms have passed. It seems that in the south, the cherry blossoms will not be seen during the Qingming Festival. Fortunately, there are a few late cherry blossoms on the roadside. Take some photos to commemorate them. Jianzhen Road and Daming Temple are next to each other. There are Jianzhen Library, Yangzhou Buddhist College, etc. Along the mountain path for about one kilometer, you will reach Daming Temple.
The cherry blossoms on Jianzhen Road have just withered, which is a pity.

Follow this path to Daming Temple. On the right side of the path is a cemetery, with many people sweeping the tomb.
The temple is full of spring
The evening cherry blossoms are in full bloom in front of the Sutra Depository, and tourists are busy checking in to commemorate them.

The cherry blossoms in the mountain temple begin to bloom in the evening
The temple has the atmosphere of Jiangnan gardens
After leaving Daming Temple, follow this road to Guanyin Mountain.
Guanyin Mountain is located on the east side of Daming Temple and is a representative of the mountain temple. Emperor Yang of the Sui Dynasty once built the palace "Mystery Tower" here. After the Song Dynasty, temples were built in dynasties, known as the "First Lingshan." Many cultural relics unearthed in the Tang Dynasty are now on display. This is the natural commanding height of Yangzhou, overlooking the north and south of the Jianghuai River and providing a panoramic view. However, Guanyin Mountain is not open today.
Guanyin Mountain Entrance
Because it is a commanding height, Guanyin Mountain has a well-organized architecture.
Some photos were taken outside Guanyin Mountain. When looking for a restaurant to eat, the roadside guard boxes are very distinctive.
I ate vegetarian food here at noon.
6. Enjoy the Slender West Lake
In spring, Slender West Lake is the most beautiful season of the year with green willows, blooming flowers, small bridges and flowing water, and rippling cruise ships. Not only did the emperor love to come, but many literati and literati left many praising poems and calligraphy treasures.
We entered from the north gate. Since Slender West Lake is long and narrow from north to south, it requires a lot of physical strength. We originally planned to take a sightseeing bus or boat, but because we wanted to take more beautiful photos, we decided to walk slowly.
Let's borrow Mr. Cai Minglong's oil painting online first: Slender West Lake in spring is so beautiful. From the painter's perspective, famous attractions such as Wuting Bridge, White Pagoda, and Diaoyutai are all among them. Willow greens, flower faces, and cruise ships shuttle through, and they are beautiful.
In the large bonsai outside the north gate of Slender West Lake, two Yang-style pine trees welcome visitors from all directions.
The red maples by the lake spit out tender leaves
Two young ladies by the lake are taking photos
The lotus flowers in the lake are still sleeping
Taking photos through peach flowers is very effective. This is the cruise ship terminal.
Renting a small boat to ripple around the lake is a good choice

Even the bathroom is built so art.
It's very quiet at the Green Cloud Pavilion

The flow of people at the famous scenic spot 24th Bridge. Why is it called the Twenty-Four Bridge? It is said that this arch bridge is twenty-four meters long and has twenty-four steps on both sides.
Follow the crowd to step onto the 24th Bridge and take the beautiful scenery on the top of the bridge.

There are many cruise ships in the lake
A black swan slowly roams by the lake for tourists to take photos.
Several mallards attracted everyone to keep taking photos
In front is the famous Wuting Bridge
Different perspectives, different beauty.
I feel that the yellow on Wuting Bridge is not bright enough and the glazed tiles need to be replaced.
Arriving at the side of Wuting Bridge, ready to cross the bridge
Diaoyutai photographed on Wuting Bridge. Unfortunately, the crowded scenic area has set up one-way streets for safe periods, and only the distance from the Red Bridge can you reach the Diaoyutai.
Weeping willows, green peaches, cruise ships... What a beautiful spring scene.
Looking at Diaoyutai from afar. It is said that the emperor fished fish in this pavilion, so it is called Diaoyutai.
The Diaoyutai is full of tourists
This cruise ship is very colorful
Here we are at the south gate
Epidemic prevention tent outside the south gate
The road outside the south gate is closed, making it inconvenient to take a taxi. I was preparing to go to Wenchang Pavilion, but I couldn't get a taxi when I reached the intersection. I had to take the bus. It was two stops away, but Wenchang Pavilion was located in the center of the area and the traffic jam was very serious. After arriving at Wenchang Pavilion, I got off the bus and found a cafe to sit down and rest. I plan to return to the hotel after dinner.
Wenchang Pavilion is located in the middle of the intersection, a bit like the Bell Tower in Xi'an.
The seats in the cafe are tight
I ordered coffee and snacks
Night view of Wenchang Pavilion
7. Ancient Canal
The following is a photo taken on the way from the hotel to Heyuan on the afternoon of April 3. It was drizzling.

8. Yangzhou cuisine
At noon on April 3, we ate at Yangzhou Lion House on the edge of the canal. It is indeed a famous restaurant. It is past one o'clock, and there are more than a dozen tables of customers waiting outside.
Sour soup fish is made from sour radish, tender ginger slices, fish slices, and shallot. It tastes delicious.
Huangqiao sesame seed cakes and tofu pudding eaten on Guandong Street on the evening of April 3
I ate it at a vegetarian restaurant under Daming Temple at noon on April 4. The taste was average and the price was high.
Fast food at Bixiangju on the evening of April 4th.
fish with Chinese sauerkraut
stir-fried bacon with green beans
9. Accommodation in Yangzhou
The room is not big and the standard of an express hotel.
The hotel provides breakfast, which is ok.
Breakfast includes Yangzhou fried rice, steamed buns, eggs, steamed corn, steamed sweet potatoes, etc.
10. Summary
The waiting hall is quite spacious
By the way, people in Yangzhou love to eat geese. This is a time-honored brand and you can buy it and take it home.
Passengers in a hurry at the station
The train arrived, G1549.
When traveling during holidays, there are really too many people. Everything increases in price and the experience is not good. It is best to go out and play normally. If you must travel, you must make plans, strategies, and book tickets, hotels, etc. in advance.
It is best not to travel on holidays, as you will encounter many difficulties.
I am still satisfied with my trip to Yangzhou. I came to Yangzhou for fireworks in March. I hope my experience can help you. Thank you for browsing.
