Yangzhou is not big, but it has a bright culture and history. There are Geyuan, He Garden, and the myriad customs along the Slender West Lake, which are classics in the history of Chinese gardening. Walking to the gate of the Geyuan, I walked straight in. Those exquisite and exemplary works and those ingenious ideas have long been fascinated by textbooks. However, time has changed. The private gardens of those large families have entered history and gradually become museum art. The people and buildings accumulated in the original streets and alleys of those cities are the source of ideas that produce those exemplary designs, which are vivid, vital and unique.
Time passes by there, and time has mottled the bricks and tiles on the walls, but there is still the home of life, a sense of life that comes from a long time, makes people feel solid and within reach.
Dongguan Street is located in Yangzhou City, Jiangsu Province. It is the most representative historical old street in Yangzhou City. It runs to the ancient canal in the east and Guoqing Road in the west. It is recorded that Dongguan Street has become an important passage from the East Gate to the city since the Tang Dynasty. It has a history of about 1200 years.
Dongguan Street reaches Dongguan Gudu from west to east. After leaving the gate, you will find the ancient canal that has lasted for thousands of years. Entering from the east gate of the ancient city, passing through the deep gate hole, you will see a straight street leading to the center of the city. Most of the buildings on both sides of the street are small wooden buildings with blue bricks and black tiles, exquisite wings and horns, plaques are everywhere, and the streets are clean and tidy. There are various Yangzhou time-honored shops along the street, including "Centenary Old Store Green Yangchun", Xie Fuchun Fragrant Powder Store, Sanhe Simei Sauce Garden,"Daqing Salt", Baoshui, Yangzhou Three Knife, etc., all of which illustrate the busy past.
The Huaju Street next to Geyuan has been renovated and will soon open. Through the newly restored buildings in Huaju Street, you can be plugged into Dongguan Street. This is the longest street I have ever seen. Most of the buildings along the street have been renovated and rebuilt. Behind them are existing residential buildings. Just like Dazhalan in Beijing, the corridors are very narrow, and in some places only one person can pass. The rooms in the courtyard are next to the rooms. Only then did I personally feel that those horse-head walls are definitely not decoration. In the eyes of pragmatic people, Fire prevention and sealing is much more practical than simple beauty.
During the Qianlong period, Yangzhou's population reached 500,000, making it one of the top ten cities in the world at that time. The ancient city of Yangzhou has more than 300 historic sites. It is a national historical and cultural city and a world cultural heritage.
Zhu Jiang, a famous gardener in the Qing Dynasty, wrote in his "Appreciation of Yangzhou Garden Products": Hangzhou wins with its lakes and mountains, Suzhou wins with its cities, and Yangzhou wins with its gardens and pavilions.
The name of West Lake is borrowed from Hangzhou, and Qinhuai is borrowed from Nanjing. However, adding the words "thin" and "small" to the front each has become a characteristic of Yangzhou.
There are so many resounding words in the world, why do they prefer "thin" and "small"? This probably means that when West Lake becomes thinner, it has the taste of exquisite pool water; when Qin Huai smiles, it has the feeling of a small family.
In this way, mountains and rivers became a beautiful family, and Yangzhou City became particularly poetic.
During the Qing Dynasty, Yangzhou salt merchants, one of the four major salt merchants in China, even regarded Dongguan Street as their first choice to live. Dongguan Street has a relatively complete Ming and Qing architectural complex and a "fishbone" street system, maintaining and inheriting the traditional features of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. There are more than 50 important historical relics such as former residences of celebrities, salt merchant mansions, temple gardens, ancient trees and wells in the street. This diverse and vibrant "river (canal), city (gate), street (Dongguan Street)" The spatial pattern reflects the unique charm of Jiangnan Canal City, which shows the long historical relics and rich cultural heritage of Dongguan Street.
Looking back, I can see the old craftsmen sitting quietly on the roadside, some dough kneading people, some autumn weaving insects, and some sugar blowing people. Even time cannot steal their calmness, as if they are holding something in their hands. That old time that cannot be returned...
Dongguan Street is also a must-see place for foreign tourists who want to taste Yangzhou snacks. Most of Yangzhou's snacks are concentrated on this street. You can eat all over Yangzhou on one street.
Another old street adjacent to Dongguan Street is called Dongquanmen. Now the two streets are also known as Shuangdong Historical District and have become one of the most popular tourist attractions in Yangzhou. The night view here is also very beautiful.
People in Yangzhou often say: "Alleys connect alleys, alleys connect alleys, and alleys are inside alleys. "There are more than 500 alleys in the Laocheng District of more than ten square kilometers in Yangzhou.
Walking on the stone road, it seems to be a corner forgotten by time. Compared with ancient streets such as Lijiang and Wuzhen, it lacks a lot of commercial atmosphere, and what it presents to us is an original and primitive taste.
This seems to be not a street, but a worn ribbon woven from many ancient buildings and ruins. As soon as you enter the door, it comes into view or winds. Flowing water slowly flows through it, and the pouring "waterfall" splattered countless crystal water droplets. The rockery surrounds the pond, and the water is crystal clear, with rings of gentle ripples. The sun shone on the sparkling water and covered it with a layer of golden gauze.
The size of the alley cannot be measured by length, but by depth. As a result, there was a saying that "the wine is not afraid of deep alleys."
The Flower Bureau not only has deep-rooted social origins and a natural and rich traditional atmosphere, but also respects and inherits the history and culture of the "Shuangdong" famous district in the ancient city of Yangzhou and the precious wealth of the Fuchun Flower Bureau.
