In my sophomore year of college, Jiangnan was popular during the Qingming Festival. There were large leaflets in the school within a few steps. More than a thousand years ago, when Li Taibai bid farewell to Meng Haoran, he sighed,"My old friend left the Yellow Crane Tower in the west, and fireworks went down to Yangzhou in March." The reputation of the poet fairy is so great that when future generations mention Yangzhou, they immediately think of March.

By chance, the ninth month in the lunar calendar meets the third day of Yangzhou. It may not seem like the third month of fireworks, but it also avoids the bustling crowd, slows down to feel the breath of the city, and savors the color, fragrance and taste of this small town.

The first night I stayed in Yangzhou, I stayed beside the historic ancient canal. I booked a B & B named "Zhai San Yue", which was in harmony with the fireworks in March. When I got off the bus, I saw an ordinary building with an unsurprising appearance. My heart skipped a beat, and disappointment surged over me. After entering the building and pushing open the door of the B & B, it became clear. The retro colors in her eyes instantly suppressed the disappointment in her heart.

Strangely enough, the words left by literary heroes in Yangzhou through ancient times have been too soft, so that future generations always find Yangzhou gentle as water. However, after driving an hour from downtown Yangzhou to Yizheng City, which Yangzhou manages, the gentle temperament gradually dissipated. In front of you, you can see a world of stone pillars, full of bluestone color, which makes people suddenly not know where they are.

It was originally a shield-shaped ancient volcano formed by a Cenozoic volcanic eruption millions of years ago. The geological structure formed basalt stone pillars of various shapes. Coupled with various volcanic geological relics, it constitutes the Nashan Geopark that we can see millions of years later.

The building in front of the door was created by a famous architect, and different features can be seen from different angles. Sometimes it's a monkey, sometimes it's an elephant trunk, sometimes it's a Guanyin. couldn't help but lean over and watch.

I don't know much about geology, but I only realized when I came here that the seemingly simple rough stone pillars in front of me can be traced back to so long a time. I only feel magical and awe.

This is not just a mountain, but a book of miracles that has been touched by the long river of time, carved by the carving knife of history, and witnessed countless changes.

Passing through the time and space tunnel, next door is another library in Zhong Shuge. The lights here suddenly turn on, and the style is also very different from the first library. There are also coffee drinks on sale here. Buy a cup and you can sit down and read. Even if you don't buy it, you can still enjoy the fun of books.

What's more thoughtful is that Zhongshuge also has a children's play area so that parents will not be disturbed by naughty children while studying.

When playing in Yangzhou, how can you not have a meal of Huaiyang cuisine?

Yangzhou's first meal was eaten at Xishi Building in Wanda. This was recommended by a local friend and said that it was a diamond restaurant on the list of black pearls under Lion Tower. The taste was absolutely guaranteed. But the location of the mall is always worrying. I have eaten in enough restaurants, but I always feel that there is no top-notch delicacy in the shopping mall.

After eating this meal, I realized the terrible prejudice. This is one of the restaurants where foodies can safely close their eyes.

The first thing to promote is the lion's head of this sign.

This is also a classic dish of Huaiyang cuisine. The Lion Head of Xishi Lou achieves high scores in appearance and taste. Use a small tripod for scenery to hold a large one, and the surface of the lion's head is covered with a thin layer of chopped green onions to block the greasy feeling of the large portion of meat.

After being cut by the chef's hand, the inside contains soft glutinous pork, fresh horseshoe, and the flavor of salted egg yolk. What is more thoughtful is this Wensi tofu. The chef moved the whole piece of tofu directly to the table and demonstrated the making of the dish on site.

Huaiyang cuisine places great emphasis on fine cutting skills, but the soft tofu can be cut into threads continuously. It must be the foundation of cutting skills for many years.

After being shredded, immerse it in the soup to form a tofu soup. The shredded tofu is as soft as a swimming dragon, light and beautiful, and the taste is fresh and elegant, with endless aftertaste. Originally, tofu costs a few cents a piece, but with the chef's skillful hands, it is made into a dish worth dozens of pieces per dish. Even ordinary ingredients can be achieved to the extreme, and I have been taught at Xishi Tower.

Most of the raw materials of Huaiyang cuisine are aquatic products, especially river and lake delicacies as the main ingredients. Therefore, we ordered a lot of lake fish for this table. Different cooking methods have different tastes, whether it is stir-fried or soups, it is clear and delicious.

This squirrel mandarin fish is one of the signature dishes of Xishi Lou. First of all, the shape is super attractive, and it also shows the wonderful cutting skills. Part of the fish is crispy and crispy, and the sauce poured is sour and sweet. It is a dish that children must like to eat.

Huaiyang cuisine is not a cuisine with heavy flavors. It emphasizes "harmony, essence, clarity and novelty". Stir-fried shrimp and cold carrot are very fresh in appearance and taste.

When you come to Yangzhou to eat specialties, you can't miss this Yangzhou saltwater goose. If Nanjing, which is not far away, loves roast duck the most, then Yangzhou is a city where "no goose can walk out alive." The night was already rising, and the Yangzhou banquet was shining in the night sky. It was a little stunned at first sight. The majestic gate of the mansion seemed to have traveled through some ancient novel.

Entering the door is a large courtyard, which is like a large family in ancient novels. There is a Song well in the lobby. I regret that I only thought about smelling the aroma of the vegetables and didn't ask for advice about the story of going down this well.

The private room for dining is full of Chinese classical style. The waiter introduced that Zhang Tielin and his party ate in this private room the night before. Haha, so we joked with each other with our friends. This is considered royal treatment.

Only after the waiter introduced him did he realize that the back door of the private room could be opened, and behind it was the pavilions and pavilions when entering the door. The eyes of the room suddenly became clear.

These remarks show that these commercial streets are well-known across the country, and also show that their commercial atmosphere is getting stronger, while the original ecological atmosphere accumulated in history is gradually disappearing. I also regret Dongguan Street. During my trip to Dongguan Street a few years ago, I only felt that the crowd was annoying and the products were duplicate. Dongguan Street is the most representative historical old street in Yangzhou. It stretches to the ancient canal in the east and Guoqing Road in the west, with a total length of 1122 meters. In the early morning, before the crowd even flooded, I went to the decades-old restaurant Zhao's on Dongguan Street to make glutinous rice dumplings and order a bowl of shrimp mixed noodles. Not far from Dongguan Street is Yangzhou's ancient canal. It is said that the ancient canal is the "root" of Yangzhou, so the first thing to do when arriving in Yangzhou is to go for a walk next to the canal.

This canal, which stretches for more than a thousand years, is the oldest section of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal and has long been identified as an intangible cultural heritage.

Walking near Dongguan Street, I came across this Christian god in the temple. It was built in 1924 by Han Mingming, President of the American Episcopal Church, and can accommodate 600 people to gather and worship.

The sunny weather makes the already bright colored stained glass even more dazzling. On the surface, it is mainly red and blue. However, under the illumination of the sun, I kept changing the angle, and these glasses also kept changing color.

The afternoon was very peaceful and comfortable. I, who was not a Christian believer, couldn't help but sit on this bench, silently meditating on my expectations and desires for life. I hope that this respect and sincerity will add a part to my wish. The possibility of realization.

Taste·The years of Yangzhou Museum

Every time you visit a new city, it becomes a habit to go to a museum. There are also Shaanxi Museum and Shanghai Museum, which have been visited several times at a time. In front of those objects that are hundreds of years, thousands of years or even longer, you can always clearly see the nicks of time and be smoothed out by the years.

Strictly speaking, the Yangzhou Museum should be called the Yangzhou Double Expo Museum. It consists of the Yangzhou Chinese Engraving and Printing Museum and the New Yangzhou Museum (referred to as the "Yangzhou Double Expo Museum"). It is a national AAAA tourist attraction.

There are eight exhibition halls in the museum, including Guangling Chao-Yangzhou City Story Hall, Yangzhou Eight Eccentrics Painting and Calligraphy Hall, Ming and Qing Dynasties Painting and Calligraphy Hall, National Treasure Hall, Yangzhou Ancient Carving Hall, Chinese Woodblock Printing Exhibition Hall, Yangzhou Woodblock Printing Exhibition Hall and a temporary exhibition hall.

First of all, it is necessary to talk about this "treasure of the town" in the National Treasure Hall-Yuanji blue glaze plum vase with white dragon pattern. This plum vase belongs to a large-scale artifact in the blue glaze porcelain of the Jingdezhen kiln in the Yuan Dynasty, representing the highest firing standard of the Jingdezhen kiln in the Yuan Dynasty. Only three of these plum vases have been seen since then. One is an old collection of the palace and is now in the Summer Palace. The other is hidden in the Jimei Museum in Paris, France. Both bottles are damaged. Only this one from the Yangzhou Double Expo Museum has the largest shape and the most exquisite decoration. Yangzhou is one of the birthplaces of Chinese block printing, and Yangzhou Chinese Block Printing Museum is the only block printing museum in China today, recreating the history of Yangzhou. In the interactive area of the museum, I was fortunate enough to see with my own eyes the whole process of woodblock printing. The artists and masters on the scene were busy with the work at hand, and the tourists didn't care how noisy they were. First, a neat manuscript is pasted on a smooth wooden board of a certain thickness. The front of the thin and almost transparent manuscript paper is pasted to the wooden board, and the words become inverted, and the strokes are clearly recognizable.

Then the engraving worker used a carving knife to cut off the unwritten parts of the page, which became prominent Yangwen. When printing, apply ink to the raised type, then cover the paper on top of it, gently wipe the back of the paper, and the writing will remain on the paper.

There is an interesting experience of woodblock printing in the activity area, allowing visitors to personally experience the step of covering paper with ink and then completing printing after a slight push. During the Qianlong years, Yangzhou Tongcao flowers were popular among the people. Later, Yangzhou Huai Salt History paid tribute to the court and were widely loved by the palace and often used as a symbol of frugality and simplicity.

Unfortunately, although the cost of Tongcao flowers is relatively low, the production process is very complicated, so it is difficult to be widely passed down. Nowadays, there are only a few craftsmen making Tongcao flowers, and the inheritance of this long-standing craft is worrying.

The person who made the flower at Shuangbo Museum was a young lady, and she couldn't help but sigh when she mentioned its inheritance.

The museum always presents the glory and decline of the past to us with a look back. There are so many beautiful feelings that span the long river of history. It was an unspeakable touch to be more and more afraid to praise what "beauty" was. It was used too much. If you tried to describe those shocks, you wouldn't know what words to use.
