After entering the door, there is a small patio. Behind the round cave door, the four words "Pianshan Mountain House" on the wall were written in calligraphy by Professor Chen Congzhou.

These are the two entrances to the patio. Although the patio is small, it is also decorated with a group of lake stones.

Enter the water pavilion in the park. You can see the pool and the "untied boat" by the pool. The untied boat is on the west side of the restored Mingnanmu Hall gable wall, which is a new building added by Professor Chen. The "untied boat" built near the water is quite unique, like a ship but not a ship, and like a dock but not a dock. Standing there is a good place to view the lake stone rockery opposite.

The water pavilion is arranged according to the theme of "piano, chess, calligraphy and painting":

The east room at the end is the chess room. The roots of ancient locust trees are carved with a chessboard.

There is a well spring in the room. It is said that when the wind blows, a sound can be made, symbolizing the sound of "zither".

There is a study room on the west side, which is called "books".

A flowered window was cut into the wall facing south. Looking out of the window, it looked like a painting.

Next to the untied boat is the gable wall of Nanmu Hall. This is a relic of Nanmu Hall in the Ming Dynasty. In order to distinguish it from the Qing Dynasty Nanmu Hall south of Yuxiu Tower, this room is called the "Ming Nanmu Hall".

Standing in an untied boat, you can admire the rockery close to the north wall. This is Shi Tao's legacy.

The rockery style is unique, and it is the so-called handling method of going down the house and going up the peak. The main peak is stacked on two brick "stone houses". There are two roads, east and west, leading to the stone house. Unfortunately, the current passage is blocked and we cannot enter the rockery and stone houses on the other side.

The rockery is equipped with steep and vigorous main peaks and matching peaks, making the entire lake stone seem scattered and continuous, galloping and jumping, with extraordinary bearing!

The unique design of the stone is to use sunlight to penetrate through the round holes in the rockery, leaving the wonder of the "moon in the water" in the pool. Watching the "reflection" of the bright moon swaying in the water from here is really a wonderful idea for Shi Tao!

In order to coordinate with the landscaping of the "Moon in the Water", Professor Chen placed a large mirror on the west wall of the pool. From the mirror, visitors can see the beautiful picture composed of rockery and water. This landscape is called the "flower in the mirror".

After watching the rockery, the tour of the Shijian Mountain House ended.

Back to the hotel. Because I had a meal at noon. In the evening, I had a casual meal of gnocchi and wine-brewed meatballs nearby and felt very good!
