Fireworks shine in Yangzhou in March. It can be said that every Chinese person has a Yangzhou dream in their hearts.
So how should we play Yangzhou?
The must-visit attractions in Yangzhou include: Slender West Lake, Heyuan, Geyuan, Daming Temple, etc. The local ticket combination is also for these attractions, but the validity period is only two days. It's really hard to visit these attractions in two days.
The beauty of Yangzhou requires time to stroll around slowly and slowly appreciate it. The places worth visiting are not just the above attractions.
I just returned from Yangzhou and stayed in Yangzhou for 6 days and 5 nights. I would recommend the following attractions to everyone:
1. Dingjiawan
Dongguan Street is included in many tour groups 'itineraries. It is one of the most famous commercial streets in Yangzhou. It is indeed worth visiting, but it is really too crowded.
To taste the unique flavor of a city, the best way is to take a walk in the original residential alleys.
Dingjiawan District is the old street with the most Yangzhou style, and the residential buildings in this area are also the essence of Yangzhou's Laocheng District.
Dingjiawan is near Heyuan. It is easy to find. A large archway gate is very imposing. There are not many people here and few tourists. It is a good place to taste Yangzhou.
Walking through the blue and brick streets, residents riding motorcycles and bicycles will occasionally roar past.
From time to time, you can see green plants hanging on the outer walls of residential buildings, and even the creeper on the green brick walls are particularly beautiful.
Dingjiawan used to be very prosperous. In addition to Dongguan Street, Dingjiawan was the favorite place of residence for salt merchants and dignitaries in Yangzhou in the Qing Dynasty.
So in this area, there are many historical buildings, many of which are national-level cultural relics protection units!
At the end of that deep alley, it might be the residence of a high-ranking official and noble person back then.
Today, some of these historical buildings have been converted into inns...
Some have also transformed into romantic teahouses...
Today's Dingjiawan is like a retired old man. Here, the pace slows down and everything is slow. It is a good place to experience the slow life in Yangzhou.
Playing Tips:
(1) The famous Xiaopangu Garden is also in Dingjiawan District. There are few tourists in the park and the sightseeing experience is very good. I highly recommend visiting it. It was the former residence of the Governor of Liangjiang! Tickets: 20 yuan (cash only)
(2) Dawu Cheng Lane and Xiaowu Cheng Lane are also very interesting.
2. Songjiacheng Sports Park
Songjiacheng Sports Park is located next to Slender West Lake in Yangzhou. It is very large, covering an area of 38.71 hectares. Most of the tourists in the park are locals, most of them are the elderly and parents of children walking. It is very beautiful. It is a national 4A scenic spot and is free. Yangzhou people are so happy.
In ancient times, Yangzhou had a saying that there were three cities in one place, namely Song Dacheng, Song Jiacheng, and Baoyou City. Songjiacheng Sports Park was built on the archaeological site of Songjiacheng. It is a scenic spot integrating ecology, leisure, sports and culture. There are many sports facilities in it, such as fencing, archery, tennis, basketball, bowling, etc. It can be done here.
What impressed me most was the antique city wall of Songjiacheng Park, which was so magnificent. Standing in the middle of the park and looking at the gate of the city wall, the trees on both sides create a tree-lined avenue against the wall. It's so beautiful.
The wetlands in the park are also impressive, and it is very pleasant to stroll along the wetlands.
If I have time, I can stroll here all day. When you come to Yangzhou, don't miss Songjiacheng Park! When visiting Slender West Lake, remember to take time to visit it. There will be surprises.
3. Yangzhou Eight Eccentrics Memorial Hall
When it comes to Yangzhou, one cannot help but mention the famous Eight Eccentrics of Yangzhou.
The Eight Eccentrics of Yangzhou were a group of innovative painters who were active in Yangzhou during the Kangxi and Qianlong periods of the Qing Dynasty. With 8 people including Jin Nong as representatives, there are 15 people in total. The Eight Eccentrics of Yangzhou advocated bringing forth the new and establishing their own family. In terms of artistic creation, they were not integrated with the dominant orthodox painting school at that time. Their pioneering spirit had a powerful impact on the traditional conservatives and had a profound impact on the painting style of later generations.
When you come to Yangzhou, how can you not go to the Yangzhou Eight Eccentrics Memorial Hall to learn about their history?
There is a 700-year-old ginkgo tree in the memorial hall, which is very prominent under the sunshine. There is also a Qionghua tree next to it, which is also very beautiful against the antique buildings.
There were very few tourists here and it was very quiet. Sitting under the ancient tree, they were reluctant to walk.
The location of the memorial hall used to be the Western Temple, which also contained the residence of Jin Nong, the leader of Yangzhou's Eight Monsters, in his later years.
The memorial hall systematically introduces the history and culture of the Eight Eccentrics of Yangzhou and displays many of their works.
When you have time, you might as well come to admire calligraphy and painting and see the 700-year-old ginkgo tree.
Tickets: 20 yuan
Play Tips:
When you have time, you can still walk east along the alley at the entrance of the memorial hall. As you come to Wenhe Road, there is an old locust tree with an empty middle. It is a prototype tree in the story of Nanke's Dream. It is 1200 years old.
There are many places worth visiting in Yangzhou, especially the gardens hidden in the alleys, such as Erfen Mingyue Tower, Wang's Courtyard, etc., which are waiting for you to visit.
When you come to Yangzhou, remember to travel slowly!
