The life of Yangzhou people can be summarized in one sentence: "wrapping water" in the morning and "wrapping water" in the evening. The so-called bag of water is Yangzhou morning tea. Yangzhou people start their day with morning tea.
In Yangzhou, there are too many choices for drinking morning tea. Among them, the most tea houses with the word "spring" in their names, such as Fuchun, Yechun, Gonghe Chun, Jinchun, Wuting Yinchun, etc., as well as Quyuan, Yiyuan, Jiulu Branch, Garden Tea House, etc. Many of these tea houses are century-old brands.
In Yangzhou, drinking morning tea is a way of life. In the past, Yangzhou people went to the tea house in the morning, served a plate of hot dried shredded silk, two steamed buns, drank a cup of good tea, and spent the time leisurely.
But recently, with the increase in tourists, many teahouses are hard to find a seat in the morning, and long queues have to be made. I heard that Yiqu Garden is the most popular. People have already lined up at 3 or 4 a.m., while Qiyuan doesn't start dispatching numbers until 6:30 a.m. For the sake of delicious food, they also worked hard, which is really admirable.
When you come to Yangzhou, how can you not experience the morning tea of Yangzhou people?
1. yiyuan
Yiyuan was the first teahouse I went to. The owner of the B & B recommended it, saying that her house was a time-honored brand with a good environment. Locals usually go there for dinner.
The peak period for morning tea in Yangzhou is 06:30-08:30 in the morning. Yiyuan is located next to the Siwang Hall in the city center. In order to avoid the peak period, I arrived at around 9 a.m. Although I had to queue up, it took me a few minutes to arrive. I gave a small table to myself and scanned the code to order food myself.
Although I was alone, I ordered five snacks and thought I would try more.
I didn't expect these snacks to arrive. As a Guangzhou girl, I think the amount is too big!
You know, the morning tea snacks in Guangzhou are for at most two or three bites, but the buns here are a big circle bigger than my fists. Girls are almost full after eating one bun. A steamed dumpling is equal to a bowl of rice. A steamed dumpling is equal to 3 dumplings in Guangzhou. Yiyuan's refreshments are really too large compared to Guangzhou.
There is no tea table fee here. The store provides plain boiled water. You can bring your own tea leaves or buy tea leaves here for a small package of five yuan. This is better than Guangzhou, where even if you drink boiled water or drink the tea you bring, you still have to charge a tea seat fee.
Everyone look at my order sheet. Except for crab roe soup dumplings, which are more expensive, other snacks are really not expensive. After eating this meal, I saved up lunch that day. I was really too full.
Yiyuan Recommendation Index: 5 stars
Comments: Yiyuan has a good location, easy to find, good products, environment, and service. Scanning codes saves time and ordering orders. There are small tables, so there is no need to share tables with fewer people.
2. Fuchun Tea House
Fuchun is also a time-honored brand. Her family has an old store and a new store. The owner of the B & B has repeatedly stressed that he wants to go to the old store.
Fuchun Old Store is located in a small alley on National Day Road. When you walk into the alley, you feel very good. This is the real Yangzhou style!
The environment inside Fuchun Tea House is good and simple. There is a big plaque in the store that says "Huaiyang First Floor".
I arrived after ten o'clock in the morning, and there were still many people at that time. There were big round tables here in Fuchun. Diners all had to pool tables, find their own seats, and then queue up to order the order to pay. When I went to the individual guest hall on the second floor, the long line really scared me.
There is one lesson I want to share with you. Don't go to the individual customer hall on the second floor. There are the most people there. It's a waste of time to queue up when ordering and paying. I saw that something was wrong, so I immediately returned to the small hall on the first floor, saving a lot of time in queuing to order.
Look at their menu. There are 30 yuan per person and 50 yuan per person. They are all mixed snacks. They are really thoughtful.
I ordered the 30 yuan meal. Since it was a mixed meal, the amount of snacks was not as big as Yiyuan, so it was no problem for one person to eat one set.
After Fuchun finished eating, I felt that the taste was good in all aspects. The tea was delicious and the meat was delicious. It seems that Fuchun Tea House's popularity has a certain reason.
The business hours here are 06:30~13:30, and 15:45~19:30. The waiter said he could come at 15:45, when there were relatively few people at that time.
Fuchun Tea House Recommendation Index: 4 stars
Comments: Fuchun is a time-honored civilian brand. It is located in the alleys of Laocheng District. The environment is simple. When you come to Fuchun, you can feel the real Yangzhou morning tea style. But you have to queue up to order payment and share tables.
3. yechun
Yechun is also a very popular tea house with many branches, and long queues are lined up every morning to wait for seats.
I was visiting Zhenyuan at around 3 o'clock in the afternoon and found her home. What a surprise! Her evening market started at 5 o'clock in the afternoon, so she specifically asked her sister at the front desk if she wanted to come and line up early. She said that there were not many people at night, so it would be okay to come directly at 5 o'clock.
So if you have already been to tea houses like Fuchun in the morning and want to have tea again, you don't have to queue in the morning. You can come for lunch or dinner without having to wait in line and choose any location.
Like the teahouses in Guangzhou, Yechun has a large snack list and check it out. But I still have to take the menu and go to the front desk to place orders and pay. The waiter is only responsible for serving the food.
I ordered crab yellow soup dumplings, lion's head, stir-fried kidney flowers, bean skin buns and bean paste buns.
I feel that the crab roe soup dumplings are still delicious in Yiyuan, and the straw with Yechun is too mini to absorb the soup.
The lion's head soup was too oily, and I couldn't eat the meat ball inside after taking two bites. The fried kidney flower is also super oily, but both steamed buns are good.
Yechun Recommendation Index: 3.5 stars
Comments: Yechun has a good environment. There is no need to set tables, but you still have to queue up to order and pay. During peak periods, you may have to wait for a long time. I personally think the products are not as good as Yiyuan and Fuchun.
4. Garden Tea House
Garden Tea House has many branches, which locals often visit.
I came to the Garden Tea House near the B & B at around 9 a.m., and when I went there, I found that the long queue had reached the door. I went into the store and found that it was not big. There was only one order counter where you had to queue up to order and pay.
The dining environment is average, and I don't want to queue up. I think I can buy a few steamed buns at the takeout window at the door. The eldest sister at the takeout window had a very good attitude and asked her what kind of bags the variegated small cage contained. She said that I was very busy and had no time to explain to you. Because she had to take care of the diners who ordered the order in the store. After ordering, the diners would come to her to get the steamed buns and find a place to sit. She felt that it was not easy for her.
Garden Tea House Recommendation Index: 3*
Comments: Personally, I think that Garden Tea House is just a breakfast snack shop. Whether it is necessary to queue there for a long time to order depends on people.
5. Recommended index for nine furnaces: 3*
This house is also a century-old brand with many branches.
After visiting He Yuan in the afternoon, I happened to see this Jiulu branch nearby, so I went in for Chinese afternoon tea.
It turned out that this was their main store. After four o'clock in the afternoon, there were only one or two diners and a few local uncles playing cards.
I ordered hot dried shredded rice and crab yellow xiaolongbao. The hot dried shredded rice looked good, the sauce was not salty, and it tasted very delicious. The xiaolongbao was average, with very little soup in it.
After a few days in Yangzhou, I have eaten these tea houses and feel that they all taste similar. The products are not particularly outstanding, which makes me feel amazing. If you really want to choose one or two, it would still be Yiyuan and Fuchun.
I feel that Yangzhou Tea House needs to keep pace with the times and adopt a better method of scanning the code and ordering payment, or set up more counters for ordering payment, otherwise I will waste my time in queuing up to order payment.
The deepest feeling is that Yangzhou refreshments are really not expensive. Each steamed bun is 3 to 4 yuan, and the scalded shredded is 6 to 7 yuan. It is very affordable.
Compared with Guangzhou morning tea, Yangzhou morning tea still prefers Guangzhou morning tea. I feel that Guangzhou morning tea has many varieties, is more exquisite, and has good service. It is enough to try Yangzhou Morning Tea once or twice.
