Since ancient times, the world has praised Yangzhou, saying,"The world is divided into three parts of the bright moon night, and the scoundrel is Yangzhou","There are hundreds of thousands of people around our waist, riding cranes rising to the state", etc. Although we missed the best season of "Yangzhou under the fireworks in March", Yangzhou in the cool autumn is also worth our visit.

If you really want to label Yangzhou, then "exquisite" must be the most appropriate word. Just the breakfast alone is dazzling and unique, let alone the kitchen knife, one of Yangzhou's "three knives". The exquisite knife craftsmanship is Huaiyang cuisine. Yangzhou has always been a prosperous place in the south of the Yangtze River. When economic conditions are good, it will naturally strive for excellence.

Morning tea, the essence of Yangzhou people eating

Morning tea culture is not only popular in Guangdong, but also popular in Yangzhou people. In the morning,"wrapped water" and in the evening,"wrapped water". The latter refers to soaking in the bathhouse, while "wrapped water" refers to Yangzhou's morning tea, because morning tea is mainly made of steamed buns, steamed wheat, soup dumplings, wontons, steamed dumplings and other snacks, and wrapped water is very appropriate.

The place where morning tea is eaten is called a "tea house", which usually opens at 6 or 7 a.m., but whether it is cold or hot, morning tea is always the motivation for people to get up early. Yangzhou people really take breakfast to the extreme. Of course, choosing this hotel is not only because of its convenient location, but also because of two simple and crude reasons. Slender West Lake, those stone bridges and pavilions

When it comes to Yangzhou, the first thing people think of is Slender West Lake, located in the northern suburbs of Yangzhou. There are more famous attractions on the lake such as Diaoyutai, 24th Bridge, and Wuting Bridge. Willow trees lie low on the lake. If you come here in spring, you can still see blooming peach blossoms dotted among them. The area of the earliest Slender West Lake was about half of its current size. The northern district was expanded after the founding of the People's Republic of China. After dredging the river section, Slender West Lake was extended to Daming Temple.

This place is called Slender West Lake, which will inevitably make people compare it with the West Lake in Hangzhou. As someone who has been to it all, I would say it's difficult to make a difference, but personally, I prefer these stone bridges and pavilions in Slender West Lake. It is very easy to get out of the picture, and Slender West Lake is larger and can be visited for a long time. As a foreigner, it is also a pleasure to slowly enjoy the beautiful scenery of Yangzhou.

Daming Temple is a quiet and unique temple

You can walk about 600 meters from the Slender West Lake Scenic Area to reach Daming Temple. Daming Temple was built in the Southern Dynasties more than 1500 years ago. It has become an ancient temple of great historical significance because of Monk Jianzhen who traveled eastward to Japan six times. It is a witness to the religious and cultural exchanges between China and Japan. Jianzhen is the founder of Nanshan Rizong in Japan, so he is quite famous in Japan. Now there is still a statue of Jianzhen in Nara, Japan. Friends who are interested in temples can come and see it after visiting Slender West Lake.

Wicheng River, shaded by the sun, experience the slow life of Yangzhou

The Waicheng River is a place that makes me particularly fond of. It is not a tourist attraction, and it is close to a residential area. It is a place I stumbled across while shopping and eating. It is really beautiful and peaceful, so I choose to spend it at the end of the day. Time here. You usually can't find it when you make travel guides. Walking slowly along the river here, you can feel the lush vegetation, the lush branches and leaves block out the strong sunshine, and the slow pace of Yangzhou is reflected in these ordinary street scenes.

Geyuan, the four seasons among stacked rocks and rockery

Gardens have always been the protagonist of the beautiful scenery of various places in the south of the Yangtze River, and Yangzhou is no exception. The two most famous gardens in Yangzhou are "He Garden" and "Ge Garden", and the latter is sometimes on the same footing as Suzhou Humble Administrator's Garden. In the "Records of Yangzhou Painted Boats" written by Li Dou in the Qing Dynasty, it was mentioned: "Hangzhou wins with lakes and mountains, Suzhou wins with cities and four, and Yangzhou wins with gardens and pavilions. The three stand against each other without distinction." It can be seen that in his mind, Yangzhou gardens have a higher status than Suzhou gardens. This view only represents the opinion of one family and cannot be used as an absolute standard.

The name of Geyuan is related to bamboo. Its first owner loved bamboo, so he named half of the word "bamboo" as the name of the mansion. Geyuan was built in the Ming Dynasty and was later expanded into a garden house by Huang Zhiyun, the chief salt merchant of Lianghuai in Jiajing of the Qing Dynasty. The salt merchants were relatively prosperous. It is said that Huang spent a lot of money to build this garden for 16 years.

The focus of the garden is the central garden. Although the soul of "Geyuan" lies in the bamboo, the bones and blood lie in the rockery. Geyuan is famous for its rockery with four distinct seasons. As the saying goes,"the mountains in spring are beautiful and like laughter, the mountains in summer are green and like drops, the mountains in autumn are clear and like makeup, and the mountains in winter are bleak and like sleeping."

He Yuan, a century model of the integration of China and the West

The original name of He Yuan was "Jixiao Villa", which was derived from Tao Yuanming's artistic conception of "leaning against the south window to express pride" and "climbing Donggao to relax the roar". This has always been the residence of the He family. It is said that now the He family gathers in He Garden every year.

Shuangdong Historical District is a witness to Yangzhou's prosperity

Just like every tourist city has one or several commercial streets, the most famous commercial street in Yangzhou is Shuangdong Historical District-named "Shuangdong" because it has Dongquanmen and Dongguan Street. This is a land and land transportation hub in Yangzhou's history. From Dongquanmen is the Dongguan Ancient Ferry.

Dongguan Street is always the busiest street in Yangzhou. There are many time-honored brands here, but most tourists come here to taste delicious food. Don't think that the commercial street will only trap tourists. The restaurants on Dongguan Street are quite cost-effective. Several restaurants have been run by locals for generations. They have snacks and dinners, which are worth a visit.

In history, Yangzhou has experienced unprecedented development due to the construction of canals. Now, when river transportation no longer plays a major role, I wonder whether the connection of railways can bring it another development.
