While I was in Jiangsu, I ignored Yangzhou. I only heard that Yangzhou morning tea was great and Slender West Lake was beautiful, but I never wanted to go there. It happened that my husband was on a business trip and the time happened to be mid-April (that is, March of the ancients), so I decided to take the high-speed train together.
Take the bus from Suzhou North Railway Station at 7:35 a.m. on April 12, and arrive at Yangzhou East Railway Station at about 9:05. It is really convenient with the high-speed rail. Otherwise, the bus ride from southern Jiangsu to northern Jiangsu will take at least 3 hours.
Play plan: Slender West Lake on the afternoon of April 12;
On the morning of April 13, Daming Temple; in the afternoon, He Garden; in the evening, stroll around Dongguan Street and other surrounding streets;
On the morning of April 14, Geyuan; in the afternoon, I took the high-speed train back to Suzhou.
1. Slender West Lake
This is a scenic spot in Dahongqiao, one of the twenty-four scenic spots in the Qing Dynasty. It was built during the Chongzhen period of the Ming Dynasty and spans the protection of the lake. The original bridge was a wooden red railing, hence the name Red Bridge. During the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, it was rebuilt into a stone bridge. Cross this bridge and enter the south entrance of Slender West Lake.
South Gate of Slender West Lake (Admission: 100 yuan/person)
When you enter the door, you first choose to take a rowing boat (8 people riding, 100 yuan/person). You can listen to the explanation and enjoy the scenery. At this time, the spring breeze is rippling and the trees are green on both sides. It is the most pleasant season.
The left bank is the famous long embankment spring willows. Unfortunately, the weather was not beautiful and the Yin Qi was heavy. Therefore, in the Slender West Lake in March in the spring, we couldn't enjoy its famous March fireworks (both flying catkins. The boatwoman told us that only under sufficient sunshine would the catkins fly like fireworks), I'm sorry!
It is said that people in Yangzhou like to grow bamboo and raise geese.
The slowly moving rowing boat passed by a black swan!
The boatwoman told us that as long as we imitate the duck's call, the wild ducks will swim over. Amid our "quack" sound, four wild ducks are trying their best to catch up!
On the left front of the bridge is the Xuyuan Scenic Spot.
On the right side of this bridge there is Xiaojinshan Scenic Spot.
Ahead is the Tingtai (also known as Diaoyutai) scenic spot. The boatwoman told a story about Qianlong coming here to fish.
Diaoyutai architecture is a classic work of the "framed view" art of Chinese gardens.
In 2014, Slender West Lake was included in the World Cultural Heritage List.
Professor Mao Yisheng, a bridge expert, once said: "The oldest bridge in China is the Zhaozhou Bridge; the most magnificent bridge is the Lugou Bridge; and the most beautiful and artistic representative bridge is the Wuting Bridge in Yangzhou."
Wuting Bridge has a total of 15 bridge holes.

Legend has it that Yangzhou salt merchants once celebrated Emperor Qianlong's birthday here, so the Xichun Terrace Scenic Spot is also called "Chuntai Birthday Celebration"!
Du Mu's poem: "The green mountains are faintly and the water is far away, and the grass in the south of the Yangtze River has not yet withered at the end of autumn; on the bright night of the twenty-four bridges, where can the jade people teach to play the flute?"
Overlooking the lake from Xichun Terrace!
The Twenty-Four Bridge Scenic Spot is composed of a combination of the Sail Plank Road, a single-hole arch bridge, a nine-curved bridge and a Blow-hole Pavilion; this bridge is a single-hole arch bridge.
The white marble railing for a single-hole arch bridge has 24 bridge railings; the bridge is 24 meters long; the bridge is 2.4 meters wide, and the upper and lower steps are also 24 levels.
Falling Sail Plank Road is made of yellow stones.

The only photo taken in Slender West Lake!
The black swan leisurely by the lake!
In front of us is the direction of the north gate of Slender West Lake, and we can vaguely see the sleeping tower of Daming Temple! I will save the Jinquan Huayu and Shibi Liucong scenic spots in that direction for next time (mainly because I don't want to be too tired).
On the way to Jingxiang Bookstore, I photographed Yangzhou's city flower-Qionghua. The flowers are really as big as plates and white as jade.
It is said that Emperor Yang of the Sui Dynasty dug the Grand Canal in order to go to Yangzhou to see Qionghua. It's a rather absurd legend.
A piece of Merlin in front of Jingxiang Bookstore!
Jingxiang Bookstore was an old building by salt merchants during the Qianlong period. Jin Nong, one of the eight monsters in Yangzhou, often traveled here.
·Walking out of Jingxiang Bookstore and walking along a lake branch stream, I saw a pair of wild ducks playing in the water!
The wild ducks seen in Slender West Lake seem to be in pairs, and this is the first time in my life that ducks can fly high on the lake.
There are many varieties of lakeside flowers. When I came to Yangzhou, I learned that Yangzhou's Guangling peony and Luoyang peony are on the same footing.

Climb the bridge and look into the distance
The exquisite small garden in front of Wuting Bridge is surrounded by water on all sides, like wild ducks floating in the water, hence the name Fuyuan!
Is the stone carving on the Wuting Bridge still an old object from the time?

Looking from here, it actually smells like Beijing Beihai Park!
The White Pagoda was built in the forty-ninth year of Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty (AD 1784). It is one of the few representative works of the existing brick Lama Pagoda in my country!
Fuzhuang's success lies in its surroundings with water, so when you step into Fuzhuang, you can take a closer look at the surrounding lakes and mountains.
Looking at the lake from a distance, the small earthen reef looks like Fuzhuang. It is also surrounded by water on all sides and floating on the water!

After leaving Fuzhuang, I found that my mobile phone was running out of power, so I quickly took the last photo in Slender West Lake, showing a tall tree!
2. Daming Temple
Bus Tour Line 1 and Tour Line 2 can go to Daming Temple, but the stop is the North Gate Station of Slender West Lake.
It takes about 6 to 7 minutes to walk from the station to Daming Temple, with pleasant scenery along the way.
Arrive at Daming Temple (ticket 45 yuan/person). Daming Temple is named after it was first built during the Ming Dynasty of Emperor Xiaowu of the Southern Song Dynasty (457-464). Over the past 1500 years, the names of the temples have changed many times, such as "Qiling Temple" and "Xisi" in the Sui Dynasty, and "Chengping" in the late Tang Dynasty. In the Qing Dynasty, because the word "Ming" was used, it was once called "Qiling Temple". In the 30th year of Qianlong, the emperor personally wrote a book titled "Imperial Title Fa Jing Temple".
The foundation was laid and rebuilt in 1988. It has a total of nine floors and has an elevator up to the seventh floor (the ticket price to the tower is 26 yuan/person). It can overlook the panoramic view of Slender West Lake!
Climb the tower and bird's eye view of Slender West Lake!
In the first year of Renshou of Emperor Wen of the Sui Dynasty (601 AD), a spiritual pagoda was built in Daming Temple. The nine-story tower occupies Shugang. During the Sui and Tang Dynasties, Yangzhou's political and economic development was very rapid. Therefore, famous poets of the Tang Dynasty such as Li Bai, Liu Yuxi, Bai Juyi, etc. all climbed this tower. Unfortunately, in the third year of Huichang, Wuzong of the Tang Dynasty (843 AD), the ruins were turned into scorched earth.
Pingshan Hall in Daming Temple was built in the eighth year of the Qingli calendar of the Northern Song Dynasty (AD 1048). It was built when Ouyang Xiu was the prefect of Yangzhou. It was named Pingshan Hall because it stood in front of the hall overlooking the mountains and looked like the hall was flat.
The church was rebuilt during the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty.
The well behind Pingshantang is Gulintang. It was built in the seventh year of Yuanyou of the Northern Song Dynasty (AD 1092) when Su Shi was the prefect of Yangzhou.
It is named after the word "Valley Forest" in Su Shi's poem "The deep valley is graceful, the high forest is united with the support of the sparse".
Further back, there is an Ouyang Temple, built by Yangzhou people to commemorate Ouyang Xiu's virtuous government!
In his later years, Duke Ouyang called himself a scholar on June 1.
This place leads to the Xiyuan (also known as the Imperial Garden) in Daming Temple, which was first built during the Yongzheng period of the Qing Dynasty. During his southern tour, Qianlong wrote poems in this garden several times. It included Kangxi Imperial Stele Pavilion, Qianlong Imperial Stele Pavilion, the fifth spring in the world, Huangshi rockery, and crane tomb.

The cemetery of Qing Dynasty painter Shi Tao is located here.
The Jianzhen Memorial Hall in Daming Temple was designed by Mr. Liang Sicheng and is known as the "Centenary Classic Building". Worth a visit!
These are two ancient jade flowers at the exit of Daming Temple!
Daming Temple is definitely worth visiting. Here are the footsteps of two prefects Ouyang Xiu and Su Shi; there are poems by poets such as Li Bai, Liu Yuxi, and Bai Juyi who climb high; there are also the imperial traces of emperors Kangxi and Qianlong; there are masterpieces designed by modern architect Liang Sicheng; there is the tomb of Shi Tao, a great painter of the Qing Dynasty... ...
3. He Yuan
It has the "World's No. 1 Corridor","World's No. 1 Mountain" and "World's No. 1 Pavilion".
East Gate Entrance of Heyuan (Ticket 45 yuan/person)
Taking Tao Yuanming's artistic conception of "leaning against the south window to express his pride, climbing Donggao to relax his laughter", the theme park of the park is called "Jixiao Villa".
Why is this a corner of the garden behind the garden
The building with the brick carvings of "Phoenix Blowing Peony" embedded in the mountain wall in the back garden is called the Peony Hall.
This is the main building in the East Garden of Heyuan-the Boat Hall.
The fine glass panes in the boat hall are transparent and bright.
The ground to the south of the boat hall is made of water ripples paved with pebbles and tiles.
Experts are all amazed at the construction method of the ship hall building, which has windows open on all sides and ripples on the floor.
The walls around the boat hall are surrounded by rocks, and the ground has evolved from ripples to other symbolic patterns. The picture below shows close-ups of other patterns, which you can imagine!
There is a "Near Moon Pavilion" behind the boat hall.

This is the "first pavilion in the world"-Shuixin Pavilion. It is the only remaining "water stage" among ancient Chinese opera pavilions and the most charming part of Xiyuan.
I chose to sit in the Shuixin Pavilion and experience the feeling of meditation on the "small square pot".
The corridor where these tourists walk is the "first corridor in the world"-Fudao Corridor, with a total length of 1500 meters. This section is located in the West Garden. On the left side of the corridor, you can see the beautiful scenery of Shuixinting West Garden; on the right side of the corridor, you can pass through every flower window. You can see the scenery of the courtyard from afar, and enjoy the scenery through the flower window with endless aftertaste!
This is the daily life of the garden owner and his family. It is named "Jade Embroidery Tower" because of this towering magnolia tree and hydrangea tree. It is a Western-style building, like Beijing's courtyard house. Coupled with the duplex corridors, it is very distinctive. A combination of Chinese and Western architecture.
This place is the Yueyuan Building, with Western-style fences, but the pattern is a bit like ancient coins. It also has four Chinese characters for "longevity". It is the residence of the owner's mother!
This is currently the largest and most complete Nanmu Hall of the Qing Dynasty in Yangzhou, where the owner receives guests. On both sides of the main entrance of Nanmu Hall, Western architectural techniques are integrated, using a whole piece of 4 square meters in size and 9 mm thick glass, which has a good lighting effect.
There are beautiful cloisonne chandeliers in the hall
Yuanyu Xiaojian Lane
Shi Tao, a great painter in the Qing Dynasty, painted "Pieces of Stone Mountain House".
This protruding stone peak is the "first mountain in the world"-a piece of stone mountain house! It is the "unique copy of the world" of the painter Shi Tao in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties. It is extremely precious.
There is actually an amazing "moon in the water" in this blue lake, where the red line points.
There is a square mirror embedded in the wall here, which can illuminate the flowers blooming in the stone clusters on the opposite mountain. Therefore, in this "Pianshi Mountain House" scenic spot, people simultaneously
You can see the "moon in the water" and the "flowers in the mirror" during the day.

4. Geyuan
Geyuan is named because it is full of bamboos. It is named because the bamboo leaves look like the Chinese character "ge". This is the northern entrance (entrance fee is 45 yuan/person).
Geyuan is famous for its stone stacking art. The rockery made of bamboo shoots, lake stones, yellowstone, and Xuan stones in the spring, summer, autumn and winter is praised by Mr. Chen Congzhou, the garden master, as an "isolated example in China".

You can walk into the southern residence of Geyuan here.

The west fire alley in the courtyard is wide in the south and narrow in the north.
This well is located at the southern end of Xihuo Lane, close to the houses on both sides and the front gate row houses. It is convenient for the house to access it at ordinary times. If a fire breaks out, water can be taken in time to extinguish the fire. The wall near the well is also specially arched, which is actually used to prevent long-term water intake and cause the wall to sink. It can be seen that the architectural design is meticulous.
Residential courtyards have flowered windows that are different from Suzhou mansions.
Here you can go to the Central Garden of Geyuan
This is the spring scenery of the rockery in the garden in the four seasons: bamboo shoots and stones unearthed in the bamboo forest are like bamboo shoots, bringing the earth back to life.
Spring is full.
This is a summer view of the four-season rockery in the garden: blue-gray Taihu Lake stones are stacked in front of the pond, and Taihu Lake stones are used to symbolize the summer scenery of Jiangnan.
The Taihu Lake stone in this summer scenery is thin and transparent. When viewed from a distance, it looks like the word "moon" and "ugly". What a good stone!
This is the autumn scenery of the rockery in the garden in the four seasons: the artificial rock peaks are formed by the superposition of yellowstone, and the autumn red color of the plants makes this place a strong autumn feeling!
Yellowstone sets off the tall and straight mountains in autumn.
A ray of autumn!
It is March in the spring, but here it is photographed with the flavor of late autumn.
This is a winter view of the rockery in the garden in the four seasons: it is stacked with Xuan stones (also known as snow stones) from Xuancheng, Anhui Province. This white snow stone can highlight the cold feeling of unmelted snow in winter.
There are also twenty-four wind sound holes carved on the south wall here. If the wind exceeds this, there will be a roar. So if it was summer, it would be full of coolness here!
There is also an ice crack road at the foot of the false mountain, and a group of snow and stone lions, large and small, are carefully piled up. It is a good picture of "lions playing in the snow."
This is Baoshan Tower. On the corridor on the second floor of Baoshan Tower, you can enjoy both summer and autumn scenery in the garden.

"Yiyuxuan" is located in the middle of the garden's four-season rockery. It is the place where the garden owner receives guests.
The stained glass on the wall of Yiyuxuan was imported from France at a high price.
The six-corner "Qingyi Pavilion" is surrounded by many Taihu rocks. The outside of the Taihu rocks is also surrounded by a bend of green water, where you can look around the scenery in the garden.

The "Imperial Horse Head" was built in the Qing Dynasty and was the only way to various scenic spots in the northern suburbs during Qianlong's southern tour.
This water road during Qianlong's southern tour was also developed into the "Qianlong Water Tour Cable".

Tianning Temple in Yangzhou was one of the eight famous temples in Yangzhou in the Qing Dynasty.
6. Taste of Yangzhou
At Tianxiangge, a restaurant next to Siwang Pavilion, I ordered this stewed crab meat and lion head. The pork is fat and thin and has crab roe inside. It is very delicious. The vegetables are mixed into the stock, and the dishes are fresh and light.
This crab yellow Wensi tofu is mixed with white, green and yellow. The soup is delicious and the tofu is smooth and tender. The most amazing thing is that the tofu is as thin as hair, which shows the cutting skills.
Exquisite!
Silver carp is a strong fishy ingredient, but this plate of red grilled silver carp heads is delicious because of its salty and fresh taste. It's not as sweet as Suzhou cuisine, but it's also delicious.
Although a small portion of Yangzhou fried rice was ordered, the quantity was still very large! Tastes good too.
* In addition, we have tasted crab yellow soup buns, big boiled dried shredded pork, Wuding buns, moon sprout steamed dumplings, etc. at Yechun Tea House. The crab yellow buns are not as delicious as we imagined. The Wuding buns are ordered wrong. In fact, we ordered Sanding buns. It is Yangzhou's "treasure in bags".
* This time in Yangzhou, I also ate ravioli made of pure shrimp. The taste was really good. Five or six river shrimp were wrapped in the ravioli skin. The shrimp meat was extremely fresh, the meat was elastic, and the taste was delicious without excessive seasoning.
* Yangzhou old goose is also good. It seems like Suzhou's salted duck roasting method, but personally feel that the meat of the old goose is more fragrant and the taste is salty and fresh.
* The lotus root round on the old street is also very distinctive. The skin is lotus root flour, and the filling is a combination of peanut paste, sesame paste, jujube paste, etc. The lotus root round has a slightly sweet fragrance.
In short, the taste of Yangzhou suits my taste very well. I didn't expect Yangzhou to be the place I want to visit again because of eating!
