Foreword;

Gaoyou City, Jiangsu:

Gaoyou City is a world heritage city, a national historical and cultural city, and a national tourism demonstration area. Located in the Yangtze River Delta, it is an important gateway to central and northern Jiangsu. It is the hometown of Chinese folk songs, the hometown of Chinese poetry, the hometown of national philatelic stamps, and the hometown of Chinese architecture.

Gaoyou has a civilization history of more than 7000 years and a city history of 2240 years. Historically, it is known as the famous area of Jiangzuo and the capital city of Guangling. It is the hometown of Emperor Yao and the birthplace of Yao culture. It is an important area for Jianghuai civilization and postal culture. As early as 7000 years ago, our ancestors cultivated here by slash-and-burn, and thrived.

Ying Zheng, the king of Qin, built a high platform and set up a postal pavilion here in 223 BC, hence the name Gaoyou, and also called it Qinyou. It is a postal city in China, with no similar kind in China. It is the only city named after postal among more than 2,000 counties and cities in China.

Memory: For Qingdao people from the seaside, they may have watched the beautiful scenery of the sea for too long. The attraction of the sea is no longer so strong. I always look forward to the scenery of various places in Gaoyou City. I yearn for the long history and beautiful scenery of Gaoyou City. The unforgettable food in Gaoyou City always affects and attracts me. The wonderful imagination that travels through time and space forces me to embark on this mysterious journey.

Overview of the itinerary;

Time: 3 days from December 1 to December 3, 2020

Character; couple 2

Method: Self-service tour

Vehicle; self-driving car

Cost: 500 yuan per person (including gasoline, high-speed fee, food and accommodation fee, tickets and other expenses)

That year, the route arrangement for a self-driving trip to Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui was arranged; departure from Qingdao City--Gaoyou City, Jiangsu Province--Jiangyin City, Jiangsu Province--Huzhou City, Zhejiang--Hangzhou City, Zhejiang--Jiangshan City, Zhejiang--Quzhou City, Zhejiang--Huangshan City, Anhui--Yi County, Anhui--Xuancheng City, Anhui--Nanjing City, Jiangsu--Yangzhou City, Jiangsu

Before I went there, I knew very little about Gaoyou City. Qingdao City drove to Gaoyou City for a tour and headed straight south. The beautiful scenery along the way was beautiful and the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal made me intoxicated. I started my trip to Gaoyou City.

This is the most suitable place for couples to travel, stroll together, and interpret the magnificent and flexible mountains and rivers amidst natural creation. Enjoy the beautiful scenery surrounded by undulating peaks and lush trees, taste Gaoyou's delicious food, and walk along the canal-side roads in Gaoyou City at night to have a panoramic view of the scenery of Gaoyou City.

1. The origin of Gaoyou

Although I passed by Gaoyou City many times when I went to Jiangsu before, I never stopped to take a closer look at this canal city. For several years, I have wanted a couple to drive all over Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Anhui in a month. After August this year, I made a self-driving tour plan for Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui; in December, during the early winter season in Jiangnan, my husband and wife walked all the way south to see the scenery of the Gaoyou Winter Canal in Jiangnan. Breathe the air of Gaoyou, taste Gaoyou's delicious food, and put your pride in it.

Day1: Gaoyou Cultural Park for the Last Battle of the Anti-Japanese War [Free Tickets]

The Memorial Hall for the Last Battle of the Anti-Japanese War is now a national 4A-level tourist attraction, a national list of anti-Japanese War memorial facilities and sites, and a cultural relics protection unit in Jiangsu Province. It is a Republican building that combines Chinese and Western cultures. It was originally a church opened by the British.

The Battle of Gaoyou became the last battle against the Japanese invaders in China's Anti-Japanese War. Liberation Daily once reported on the Battle of Gaoyou. On August 15, 1945, Japan announced its unconditional surrender.

At the end of 1945, there was still a county seat south of the Sujiang-Anhui Border Region government that had not been liberated but was still occupied by the Japanese and Puppet Army. This was Gaoyou City.

From December 19 to 26, 1945, with the approval of the Central Military Commission of the Communist Party of China, the Seventh and Eighth Columns of the Central China Field Army and the local armed forces, and the Central China Military Region of the New Fourth Army resolutely implemented the order of Commander-in-Chief Zhu De, sent troops to surrender, and resolutely eliminated the Japanese puppet armed forces who refused to surrender.

The Battle of Gaoyou was launched under the personal deployment and command of Commander Zhang Dingcheng of the Central China Military Region and Deputy Commander Su Yu. The Central China Field Army of the Fourth Army launched an attack on the Japanese Puppet Army who refused to surrender in Gaoyou and recovered Gaoyou City in one fell swoop. This was also the last city liberated during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and one of the counties and cities with the largest number of enemies nationwide.

The Gaoyou Pingjin Weir site was listed as a World Heritage Site in 2014 (it is an important part of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, China's 46th World Heritage Site). This stone weir is also the only ancient weir discovered in the Huaiyang Canal section.

The Pingjin Weir site is the west embankment of the old road on the other side of the Guosi Tower in Gaoyou Town, the Grand Canal. It was originally a water conservancy facility built by Li Jifu, prime minister and Huainan Jiedushi during the Yuanhe period of the Tang Dynasty, to regulate the water level of the canal. Today, there is still a section of nearly 100 meters of ancient stone weir made of rocks in the Ming Dynasty.

In Pingjin Weir in Gaoyou, Jiangsu Province, Li Jifu, the governor of Huainan in the Tang Dynasty, worried that the canal would be under and could not live in the water, so he built an embankment, named it "Pingjin Weir." In 1984, the national Tang and Song Ancient Canal expedition team visited Gaoyou to observe its current situation and identify it.

On May 3, 2013, the Pingjin Weir site was announced as the seventh batch of national key cultural relics protection units

Gaoyou North Gate City Wall Relics Park is located on Beimen Street, Gaoyou City, a famous national historical and cultural city. It is an important witness to Gaoyou's history of building the city. It plays a very important role in determining the position of Gaoyou's Song City Wall. Therefore, Gaoyou Municipal Party Committee and Gaoyou Municipal People's Government decided to build a new Beimen City Wall Relics Park covering an area of about 12000 square meters at the north end of Beimen Street (also known as Wengcheng Ruins Park), in order to reproduce the old style of Gaoyou's ancient Wengcheng, adding a new historical cultural relic highlight to Gaoyou City, the national historical and cultural city.

The Gaoyou City Wall was built in the fourth year of Kaibao in the Northern Song Dynasty (971 AD). It was built by Gao Ningyou, a known soldier of Gaoyou Army. It was originally built by 10 miles and 316 paces, 25 feet high, and 15 feet wide. Due to historical reasons, the Gaoyou City Wall was later demolished, leaving only the southeastern corner.

Day3: Gaoyou Nanmen Street [Free Tickets]

Gaoyou Nanmen Street was listed as a World Heritage Site in June 2014 (an important part of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, my country's 46th World Heritage Site). On December 11, 2015, Nanmen Street and Yuchengyi were approved as a national 4A-level tourist attraction. Nanmen Street is an important node in Gaoyou's tourism "One Axis, One Belt and Five Districts" plan, and is also an important Gaoyou tourist attraction promoted by Gaoyou to the outside world.

Nanmen Street was once the most prosperous historical and cultural district in Gaoyou City during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The main street was founded in the Song Dynasty and flourished in the Ming and Qing Dynasties and in modern times. It is a veritable key point connecting the Lixia River, the Grand Canal, and Jiangsu and Anhui. On both sides of the Kellai Canal, freight transportation was carried from north to south. The situation lasted for more than 600 years until around the 1940s, when it was severely damaged by war and a fire that affected more than 40 shops and gradually became depressed.

After the founding of the People's Republic of China, with the restoration of Yucheng Posthouse by the People's Government of Gaoyou City from 1993 to 1995, this 230-meter-long Nanmen Street was restored as before and regained its vitality.

Traveling may not necessarily cost much money, but not traveling may not necessarily save much money or become rich. In life, there are not many moments that truly belong to you. Living according to your mind is the best life. Take advantage of the sun and the breeze is not dry to meet the people you want to see and the scenery you want to see. This is a beautiful life

The mountains, rivers and waters along the way are connected by mountains and rivers and rolling. The winding road winding on the mountainside winds around the green mountains like streamers, becoming a unique and beautiful scenery. The hazy distant mountains are shrouded in a layer of light gauze, and they are shrouded in shadows. They are sometimes far and near in the ethereal clouds and mist. When they see this scene, they just want to sigh with emotion: "This scene should only exist in the sky. How many times can I hear it in the world?"

Sense of travel: I am originally a person who loves to move around. I have walked through countless mountains and rivers, rivers and lakes, from the paradise on earth in the south, to the ice city of Harbin in the north, to the Mohe River in the northernmost part of China to seek the north, and from the colorful clouds in the west. To the south, to the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea in the east, and Putuo, which has visited the East China Sea. I will continue to travel south to Hainan, from the Central Plains to Sichuan and Lhasa in the southwest, and from Gansu and Shaanxi to Xinjiang in the northwest. I will be in this place I love and yearn for, looking for highlights of the itinerary. And carefully record it, most of the love for a place is for someone, something or experience, as well as the beautiful scenery. Friends should travel to Gaoyou City, Jiangsu Province.

That year, the self-driving journey to Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui; the self-driving journey to explore the secrets of Gaoyou City, Jiangsu Province [Chapter 1] ended--Please continue to browse that year, the self-driving journey to Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui; the self-driving journey to explore the secrets of Jiangyin City, Jiangsu Province [Chapter 2]
