Hunan, located in the central part of our country, is a place with outstanding people. It has a long history and profound humanities. Transportation extends in all directions. The economy belongs to the second echelon of our country. It is slightly worse than the coastal areas, but better than most central and western cities. There are famous attractions in the province such as Zhangjiajie, Hengshan, Yuelu Mountain, Yueyang Tower, Yandi Mausoleum, Fenghuang Ancient City, Shaoshan, Langshan and other tourist destinations that many people aspire to.
There are a total of 14 prefectures and prefectures in Hunan Province. The Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan Economic Circle centered on the provincial capital is the most developed region in Hunan. In 2018, the province's GDP was 3.64 trillion yuan. The top three were the provincial capital Changsha (1.1003 billion yuan), Yueyang (341.1 billion yuan), Changde (339.4 billion yuan), and the bottom three were Huaihua City (151.3 billion yuan), Xiangxi Prefecture (60.5 billion yuan), and Zhangjiajie City (57.8 billion yuan). Among them, Zhangjiajie's GDP is only one-twentieth of Changsha's.
Zhangjiajie Winter is located in the northwest of Hunan, in the hinterland of the Wuling Mountains in the middle and upper reaches of the Lishui River. It borders Chongqing and Guizhou. It was formerly known as "Dayong City" and governs 2 municipal districts (Yongding District, Wulingyuan District) and 2 counties (Cili County, Sangzhi County), totaling 9653 square kilometers. Zhangjiajie was established due to tourism and is one of the most important tourist cities in China. It is the birthplace and central area of the Hunan, Hubei, Chongqing and Guizhou Revolutionary Base.
Zhangjiajie is a typical mountainous area with basically no large-scale industries and a good ecological environment. It is established based on tourism. The local Zhangjiajie Forest Park became my country's first national-level wooden forest park as early as 1982. In August 1988, Zhangjiajie Wulingyuan Scenic Area was also included in a national key scenic area;
In 1992, Wulingyuan Scenic Area, which consists of three major scenic spots including Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, was included in the World Natural Heritage List by UNESCO; in February 2004, it was included in the world's first batch of "World Geoparks"; In 2007, it was included in China's first batch of national 5A-level tourist attractions. In 2017, it was awarded the honorary title of "National Forest City".
Zhangjiajie was not previously called Zhangjiajie, and it was not a prefecture-level city. Until 1982, Dayong County, where Zhangjiajie is located, established China's first national forest park. On May 24, 1985, the State Council approved the abolition of Dayong County and the establishment of Dayong City (county level), taking the original administrative area of Dayong County as the administrative area of Dayong City. In 1988, the State Council approved the upgrading of Dayong City to prefecture level, establishing Yongding District and Wulingyuan District, and transferring Cili County, which originally belonged to Changde City, and Sangzhi County in Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, to Dayong City.
On April 4, 1994, the State Council approved the renaming of Dayong City to Zhangjiajie City, named after the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is famous at home and abroad. As for why it is called Zhangjiajie, it must start from the preface to the Zhang Family Genealogy during the Chongzhen period of the Ming Dynasty. The author of the preface is Zhang Zaichang, the sixth grandson of Zhang Wancong, the commander of Dayong Office of Yongding Wei. During the Hongzhi period of the Ming Dynasty (1488-1506), the court saw Zhang Wancong's meritorious guard and awarded him the "mountain forest land" in the area of what is now Zhangjiajie National Forest Park as a fief.
In the third year of Chongzhen of the Ming Dynasty (1630), Zhang Zaihong, the sixth grandson of Zhang Wancong, was awarded a regiment official and a government office was set up here. This area became the hereditary territory of the Zhang family, so it was called "Zhangjiajie". Although it is no longer the territory of the Zhang family, the name has been inherited. I wonder if the Zhang family needs to collect tickets to come here now. Anyway, this is Zhangjiajie, the poorest city in Hunan Province, but it has many international and national labels. It is one of the most famous and beautiful cities in Hunan.
