Maoyan River is a section of river over 50 kilometers long upstream of the Li River. Maoyan River can be divided into two sections: the upper section is Pinghu You, starting from Kuzhu River under Jiutian Cave, passing through Qing'anping, and then ending at Yutan Power Station; The next section is drifting, starting from the hot water pit in Wentang Town and then arriving in the city.

Maoyan River is a colorful and lively traditional Chinese painting of water, a picturesque and graceful green mountain scene. In the Qing Dynasty's Guangxu's "Yongding County Xiangshi Zhi", it is recorded that "Li entered the country from the Kuzhu River, with heavy shoals and stacked mountains. Its authors are 80 unique, and most of the Langtou River is extremely dangerous.

Lishui ranks the youngest among the four major water systems in Hunan, namely Xiang, Zi, Yuan, and Li, and has a very strong and fierce temperament. Devouring lives, sweeping the fields, and causing many families to perish. Therefore, people once talked about Li's color changing and called it "magic water" or "ghost river". Especially when it goes crazy, people almost use all the cursed words to curse it, gradually forgetting its beauty. It was not until the rise of Maoyan River drifting that the beautiful face of Lishui River reappeared in people's sight.

The Li River, originating from Sangzhi County in Hunan Province, flows and rushes through continuous mountain gorges. After reaching Wentang Town in Yongding District, it winds around a green mountain and rests in a relatively open valley. The Creator is so wonderful. The lingering power of the long run of the Li River has not yet subsided, and the mountains on both sides of the river suddenly shrink. Mountain brothers and sisters work together to squeeze the Li River, unwilling to be crushed. In the gorge, the Li River fights against the towering mountains, thus creating the wonder of Maoyan River.

The river water is even more fierce and powerful, lifting its head and withdrawing its hooves, rushing eastward. One beach after another, one wave after another. A hundred mile river, a hundred mile beach, a hundred mile flowing water, a hundred mile waves. The Maoyan River mercilessly collides with the deeply rooted rocks in the river. Despite the impact causing blood to flow from the head, intestines and lungs to be torn apart, and bones to be shattered, there is still no regret, and the magnificent performance of life is never stopped. The torn life turns into silver beads and throws them into the sky, then falls back onto the eternal body, weaving a picture of the Queen Mother pouring down sweet dew. And the rocks that have stood proudly for thousands of years have been washed by the river, tearing apart the skin that was just about to show off its jade like texture, and then being submerged by the surging river, once again striking the sky with silver flowers. The huge roar of advancing and blocking, echoing time and time again in the valley, and shaking time and time again in the mountains. If you take a raft or small boat drifting on the river, an indescribable pleasure wanders through every nerve. People are sometimes thrown onto the waves by the soft and boneless river water, and sometimes dragged down into peaks and valleys. I will involuntarily let out a desperate cry to enjoy the stimulation bestowed by nature. The screams and waves merged into a joyful melody.

Numerous waterfalls flow out from the lush green mountains on both sides of the Maoyan River. It adds a primitive wild beauty to Maoyan River. A hanging waterfall flows down from the steep peaks and valleys, swallowing clouds and exhaling mist. On a sunny day, under the sunshine, five colored beads roll endlessly, which is truly beautiful.

Among the numerous waterfalls and springs along the Maoyan River, the Shuidong Waterfall is the most spectacular and charming. The waterfall cascades out from a steep cliff over 70 meters high, flowing over three levels of uneven cliffs, forming three layers of varying lengths. The waterfall water cascades down through the abrupt grooves and troughs on the stone platforms of each level, either wide like the Milky Way, narrow like white wine, hanging like water curtains, or strings of silver beads, flying into the Maoyan River. The impact makes the river water tremble and shimmer with scales.

Maoyan River is not only a colorful picture of water, but also a traditional Chinese painting of mountains. The green mountains stretch on both sides, with thousands of trees and onion baskets, cliffs facing each other, deep ravines and secluded valleys, and dense caves. The ancient pine trees hang diagonally on the sharp cliffs like knives. Eagles, crows, and sparrows hover in groups at the peak, chirping on the cliffs.

Maoyan River is a river full of vitality and essence, with ancient style Tujia stilted houses scattered on both sides of the mountain valleys and banks. Every noon, groups of beautiful Tujia girls wash their clothes and scrub their green silk in the clear and soft river water. At this moment, the young Tujia people opened up their beautiful singing voices, singing one beautiful mountain song after another, such as "Lang looks at the mountain top, sister washes clothes in the river, sister washes clothes without thinking about Lang, be careful not to let a hammer fall on your finger". The singing flew out of the half closed window, out of the jungle on both sides of the river, across the ravine, down the river, and into the girl's heart
