The Wulingyuan National Scenic Spot scenic spot has moved out all the inns due to the environmental rectification, so it is impossible to live in the scenic spot. If you want to visit the scenic spot for a few days, you are suggested to live at the gate of the sign gate or at the ticket station of the forest park. Many tour groups are booked in the urban area, and it will take dozens of minutes on the road, which is too hard.

1、 Zhangjiajie Transportation

Because my first stop on this trip was the Wugong Mountain heavy hiking, I decided to find a less tiring but constantly walking attraction to relax after descending the mountain. Therefore, I chose Zhangjiajie. There is an overnight train from Pingxiang Station to Zhangjiajie West Station. Considering that it is also troublesome to transfer by high-speed rail, I bought a train ticket and the train arrived at Zhangjiajie West Station on time at 5:07 am in the morning.  

(Key Points) ❗ ️ ❗ ️ ❗ On the right side of Zhangjiajie West Station is the tourist distribution center. You can take a bus directly to the gate of Wulingyuan National Scenic Spot, Forest Park and other scenic spots. It is very formal. The staff also warmly introduced us how to live and play. I bought a ticket to the gate of Wulingyuan National Scenic Spot, 13 yuan per person. It is best to avoid riding in privately operated vehicles.

Here is the roast: It's amazing behind. The driver told us all to get off the minibus just a short distance away from the station, saying that we would change trains. There was no explanation for this operation before. Then a dozen people on the bus shouted and got off and waited for another bus on the road. After waiting for nearly ten minutes (I thought we met human traffickers), an identical car finally arrived. It was said that it was sent from the bus terminal. I had to take this bus to get to Wulingyuan National Scenic Spot. Anyway, I didn't understand what this operation was. We got off the bus all the way. At last, we were just tourists from other places. The driver eight cars stopped at a roadside and then came to the station, let us get off. But we bought tickets and said that we were going to Wulingyuan National Scenic Spot Scenic Area. We didn't know why they came to the station, but later we knew that these cars didn't go to the entrance of the scenic area.

I checked on Baidu Maps and found out that taking bus No. 1 across the street would get us to the sign gate. Then we watched helplessly at the station as two No. 1 buses whizzed past us. Why didn't they stop? Has this station been cancelled? Or is the driver in a bad mood? I have ten thousand question marks in my mind, but I finally found out from a local that I had to wave my hand to stop. If no one got off, the driver wouldn't stop. Wow, I admire it. 666666

Around 7 o'clock, we arrived at the sign gate and saw a nice looking inn. We called the owner and asked them to let us in to pack our luggage. The price was 140 yuan per night, which was not expensive. Although the store looked small, it was actually very big. The location was good and the rooms were decorated warmly.

2、 First day itinerary (Tianzishan, Yuanjiajie)

Wulingyuan National Scenic Spot Sign Gate

(Key Points) ❗ ️ ❗ ️ ❗ It is recommended to purchase tickets online, so that after passing the security check, you can directly turn left into the scenic area without having to queue up to buy tickets. Tickets are valid for four days, and the first time you enter, you need to use your ID card, just swipe your face afterwards.

(Key Points) ❗ ️ ❗ ️ ❗ I got a hand-painted map from the innkeeper and asked him to suggest some routes for me to visit. I can go wherever I want. If I'm worried about missing essence, I can also join a group or invite a tour guide. It seems that these local tour guides are all 100 yuan/day.

As you walk in from the door, people will always ask if you want a tour guide or buy discounted tickets. It's a matter of personal opinion. You can take an eco-friendly car here to get to Shili Gallery, Tianzishan Cableway, Bailong Sky Ladder, and Shuiluo Simen (Jinchuai Creek), which is quite convenient. The staff at the entrance will ask to see the ticket information to confirm that a package ticket has been purchased before allowing passengers to take the bus.

Tianzishan Cableway

We chose to take the Tianzishan Cableway up the mountain mainly because we heard that we could shuttle through the rock walls. Well, actually it's not, we can just see the changes in the mountain from a bird's-eye view.

Helong Park

There are a total of four attractions in He Long Park: Fairy Scattered Flowers, Imperial Pen Peak, Xihai Stone Forest, and He Long Bronze Statue. The fairy scattered flowers, and from the side, this beautiful woman's facial features were indeed exquisite, as if holding a flower basket on her chest.

The bronze statue of He Long, Zhangjiajie is the hometown of He Long, and many tour guides can be heard telling the story of He Long to tourists.

The moment when I boldly looked down at Xihai Stone Forest was not captured, but rather the moment when I lowered my head and straightened my hair, which looked like 'I don't want to look, I don't want to look, I don't want to look' 😂

This monkey is the first monkey I encountered when I entered the scenic area 🐒， It loves to eat corn kernels and doesn't really like packaged food. The feeling of holding hands is very good 😁

Yuan Jiajie

It takes about 40 minutes to drive from Helong Park to Yuanjiajie by eco-friendly bus, where you can see some indigenous people and black tea plantations along the way. There are several famous scenic spots in Yuanjiajie, which are also the essence of Wulingyuan National Scenic Spot Scenic Spot: the best bridge in the world, the heaven and earth column, and the enchanting platform. The Colors of Nature 😍

The first bridge in the world, also known as the Tiansheng Bridge, doesn't feel anything when standing on the bridge. When you reach the point where you can see the entire bridge from the side, you realize that it is suspended under your feet. This is a naturally formed bridge.

On the way to the Lost Soul Platform and the Qiankun Pillar, I encountered a big fat monkey on the top of the bridge who was very happy and joyful 🐒

This is a group of monkeys 🐒， Monkeys are also social animals, with a monkey king, a bunch of harem beauties, and little monkeys 🐵 Seeing monkeys agile in snatching food from other people's pockets and backpacks, as well as grabbing handbags, they found that there were only hats and clothes inside and decisively discarded them as bad monkeys.

Underneath this branch is a bottomless abyss, and if it falls, there won't even be a tree to catch. The monkey is indeed not afraid of heights 🤣

The famous Qiankun Pillar, the filming location of Avatar Suspension Mountain, feels strange because the movie Avatar was renamed Aliluya Mountain.

This is a tree root on the roadside, it has been touched and covered in mud, smooth and even 😅

I feel like I'm just looking at a bunch of stone pillars on the Enchanting Platform, or it could be cloudy ☁️ The reason is that I can't quite see anything stunning.

Bailong Heavenly Ladder

The Guinness World Records record for the highest outdoor artificial elevator, and you need to watch a video here to know how amazing it is. It goes straight up and down at a speed of 5 meters per second on a cliff, and takes a total of 88 seconds to reach a height of over 300 meters.

We skipped the Yangjiajie today due to health reasons and went back to the hotel early to rest.

3、 Second day itinerary (hiking at Jinbian Creek)

The entire length of the Golden Whip Creek Grand Canyon is 7.5km, and the map shows that it takes about 2.5 hours to walk. I think either my walking is really slow, or it takes too much time to stop and pat on the road. Jinbianxi is my favorite place, with clear and bottomless streams, groups of small fish foraging, relatively friendly monkey groups, various bacterial species only found in humid environments, rich species, and colorful spots. Even in bad weather, many beautiful photos can be taken. We chose to enter through the sign gate, take the eco-friendly car to the Water Loop Four Gates, and start hiking the entire Golden Whip Creek Grand Canyon from there. The supporting services of the scenic area are very comprehensive, and there are many environmentally friendly cars on several routes. In addition, due to the impact of the epidemic, there are not many tourists, so it feels quite comfortable.

I used a sealed bag that had previously contained food, and my camera and GoPro battery kept circling around me when it heard sounds and smelled smells, wanting to touch my bag. When I looked at it, I just looked around and pretended not to want to steal food 😆 If it were a male monkey, I would probably have lost my battery 🔋

The Underwater World of Jinbian Creek

The underwater world of Jinbian Creek is really beautiful 🥰

Mushroom community in Jinbian Creek

At first glance, I could see this colony of bacteria. The moist surface of the mushroom had scattered black particles, and I didn't know if it was some kind of animal egg or feces. I didn't dare to touch mushrooms in the wild without gloves. Recently, I watched Steve Axford's various mushroom works presented through the lens, which were amazing and stunning. I think he has become my mentor in mushroom photography.

The small umbrella mushroom, this mushroom really looks like the hat of the Grimm in the Smurfs, or like the dwarf in Snow White. It is indeed created from nature.

This type of mushroom grows laterally, with a curved upward stem and thin flesh. The edges of the mushroom also have gear shaped white protrusions.

The three types of mushrooms I captured today are all orange brown in color. I'm not sure if it's due to the influence of soil and vegetation. They look similar, but they're not the same type of mushroom. I feel like I'm going to get addicted to them.

After walking through the Golden Whip Creek Grand Canyon, we arrived at the Oxygen Bar Square. Originally, we planned to go to Huangshi Village, but after seeing the map indicating that the Great Ring Road route would take 2.5 hours to walk, we calculated the time and decided to leave the Forest Park ticket station and return to the vicinity of the sign gate for dinner.

(Key Points) ❗ ️ ❗ ️ ❗ When I came out of the ticket station of the Forest Park, I saw some buses parked in an empty place. Those who want to return to Wulingyuan National Scenic Spot or go to the station in the urban area all get on here, which is the white small bus at the beginning of my article. It is 10 yuan/person to go to Wulingyuan National Scenic Spot, and it seems 14 yuan/person to go to the station. We took care of the driver and he put us down at a big roundabout, walking back to the sign gate for about a few minutes. Don't believe the road signs and Baidu Maps that say there is a station 400 meters ahead, there is no one there at all, and there are no cars parked there. If you want to get on the bus, just reach out and stop it.

Delicious local cuisine

Xiangjian Tu Restaurant is delicious when hungry, but feels greasy when not hungry. The locally famous "San Xia Guo" has a small portion, with two meat dishes (pig ears and money belly) added. It already contains a thousand slices, onions, and potatoes.

Stir fried mountain bamboo shoots with preserved meat, this feels the best.

Original flavor stone pot fish, just drank the first bowl and felt full of energy, but later regretted ordering this dish, it was too wasteful.

Stir fried wild coriander has a combination of celery like texture and coriander like taste.

4、 Third day itinerary (ten mile gallery, hiking trail)

Due to physical discomfort on the first day, we didn't go to Chengyang Family Realm. We thought that today we could hike up Tianzi Mountain from the Ten Mile Corridor and then take an eco-friendly car to visit, which led to today's whole day hiking trip in the mountains 😂 Although Shili Gallery is called Shili Gallery, there is actually no Shili. It takes about half an hour to walk, and those who do not want to walk can also take a small train.

It's a magical composition, with a pile of stones stuffed between three trees. Why is that?

The Ten Mile Gallery is actually quite ordinary. There is a scenic spot in the middle where an old man collects herbs, which I didn't understand 😵

I feel like there are two gorillas on the right, but there is no attraction introduction. Is it because my imagination is too rich?

This should also be a type of fungus, right?

That's how the hiking trail of Tiantianzi Mountain keeps climbing steps

We decided not to continue up the mountain when we arrived at the Moon Pass. We were worried that we wouldn't be able to get off the mountain before dark and would have to camp on the mountain again, so we chose to go down the road from Nantianmen. By the way, it's best to have a restroom on the Ten Mile Gallery Square. Along the way, there was only one rudimentary restroom that required a fee, and it wasn't until we arrived at Moon Pass that we had a formal restroom.

The legendary South Heavenly Gate

This road is very damp and cold, and there shouldn't be many people walking on it usually. The stone road is covered with moss and very slippery.

I have been shuttling through the woods all along, and the sky is getting darker and darker. This road feels far, far away

When we arrived at Tianzishan Mountain Villa, we were almost there. Further down, there was an environmental protection station on the roadside. We arrived there before the environmental protection car finished work. The driver seemed confused and stopped us to get on. Fortunately, he caught the environmental protection car. The rest of the journey was around the mountain road, which was about the distance from the signgate to the water roundabout gate. It took us an hour to walk out.

Originally, this was the Water Loop Four Door Fire Brigade. I thought it was a leisure club.

5、 Conclusion

This time, I only visited the core scenic spot of Wulingyuan National Scenic Spot in Zhangjiajie, but neither Yangjiajie nor Huangshi Stronghold went to see it. Let's leave it for the next time. There are always some regrets in the travel, so that we can have the motivation to come again next time. If Wulingyuan National Scenic Spot uses transportation for the whole journey, it can be finished in two days. The four day validity period of the ticket is probably ready for the whole journey. Although I also took the cable car and the Hundred Dragon Ladder, I try to take more hiking as much as possible. Only in this way can I see places that others can't see. These days, it's cloudy every day. It's really gray to see all the strange mountains and rocks, and it's not good to take photos. In addition, the color of autumn is a bit depressed. On the contrary, I encounter many small things in the forest dolls that are particularly attractive.
