Mount Putuo is a supreme holy place in the hearts of many Buddhist worshippers, especially people from southern Fujian. Countless people go to Mount Putuo every year to worship. As the Guanyin Bodhisattva Dojo, it is not only a clean Buddhist shrine, but also an excellent tourist attraction. Whether you believe in Buddhism or not, it is worth a visit. There is a saying that when you come to Putuo Mountain to worship, you have to come for three consecutive years, but personally feel that you still follow your own pace and arrangement, and you need to have thoughts in your heart. On my third trip to Putuo Mountain in five years, although the weather was not good, sincerity made me feel good.
The trip this time was quite rushed. The time in Putuo Mountain was actually one day and one night. I mainly went to the three major temples (Puji Temple, Huiji Temple, Fayu Temple) and the Nanhai Guanyin Scenic Area of Zizhu Forest. If you want to visit all the attractions, including Xitian Scenic Area, Shancai Cave, Luojia Mountain, etc., it is recommended to arrange a trip of at least 2 days and one night.
[The chatter written in front]
1. Regarding external transportation:Take the bullet train to Ningbo Station, and you can take it to Ningbo Station from Xiamen. The one-way ticket price is 294 yuan, which takes nearly 6 hours. This time, I chose to travel by plane. The one-way journey between Xiamen and Ningbo takes about one and a half hours. You can also choose a flight from Xiamen to Putuo Mountain, which is more convenient. (PS: Overall air tickets are cheap this year, so it is recommended that air travel be more convenient)
2. Regarding internal transportation:There is an airport bus directly from Ningbo Airport to Zhujiajian Wharf. It costs 70 yuan/person. It takes about 2 hours. From Zhujiajian Wharf to Ningbo City (South Railway Station), you can first go to Zhoushan Putuo Center and then buy a bus from Ningbo South Railway Station. There is a bus every 15 minutes. It only takes an hour to leave from Zhujiajian Wharf.
3. About transportation on Putuo Mountain Island:Ferry tickets from Zhujiajian Wharf to Putuo Mountain, major tickets and cableway tickets for Putuo Mountain can be booked in advance on the "Putuo Mountain" public account. Starting from 9.18, reservations must be made in advance on the public account to visit the island. Transportation on the island is mainly walking. There are shuttle buses between the main attractions. Tickets range from 5 to 10 yuan. You can get on the bus and scan the QR code behind the seat to pay.
4. About tickets:The big ticket for Putuo Mountain is 160 yuan/person (140 yuan/person in off-season), and various documents are discounted. The one-way ticket from Zhujiajian-Putuo Mountain is 30 yuan/person. Puji Temple Fragrant Flower Coupons are 5 yuan/person, Huiji Temple Fragrant Flower Coupons are 5 yuan/person, Fayu Temple Fragrant Flower Coupons are 5 yuan/person, and Zizhu Forest Nanhai Guanyin are 6 yuan/person. Fragrant Flower Coupons only support cash purchase, so it is recommended to prepare change in advance.
5. About dress:When entering the temple, it is recommended to wear knee-high trousers without exposing your shoulders (although Putuo Mountain does not have explicit regulations). Be sure to wear walking shoes. Most of the islands still rely on walking. The weather in September is around 20 degrees, and the temperature is suitable. Unfortunately, this time it happened to be the last season of the typhoon and it was raining. It is recommended to wear raincoats when it rains. The temple is crowded and it is difficult to use umbrellas.
6. About accommodation:There are many hotels and B & Bs on the island that can be arranged based on personal budget. Most B & Bs are concentrated on the side of the Xitian Scenic Area. This time, the B & Bs are also chosen. The "Putuoyuan Boutique B & Bs" near Financial Street on Meicen Road. Every night around 200, the boss will pick up and drop off at the dock, which is quite convenient.

Compared with the first and second visits to Putuo Mountain, the connection this time is more convenient and simple. The airport bus goes directly to Zhujiajian Wharf, which really has the immediate feel of the "Potala Palace". There are also many chain restaurants to choose from here. For example, Dicos, Yonghe Soymilk, etc. have opened branches here. You can eat something to replenish your strength before going to the island.
Now tickets and tickets are booked online, and you can board the ship by swiping your ID card. It is convenient and fast. A few manual windows are still reserved in the ticketing hall to facilitate the elderly who do not pay online.
There is also a self-service map printer on the aisle to the ticket office, which can scan the code to get color hand-drawn maps.
There are not many people on weekdays, so it takes about 10-15 minutes to get on the boat. The boat journey is about 15 minutes. They are all big boats and will not shake very much.
Start the third trip to Putuo Mountain!
[Puji Temple, the beginning of the pilgrimage journey]
It seems that every time I come to Putuo Mountain, I use Puji Temple as the starting point for worship. It is also the latest temple on the island. Puji Temple, also known as Qianji Temple, was built during the Yuanfeng period of the Song Dynasty (1078 - 1085). It is the largest temple in Putuo Mountain, and all abbot abbot of the mountain lived here in Xi in successive generations. The temple is large in scale and is known as "one floor in five steps and one pavilion in ten steps". The entire temple has six entrances and runs through a central axis from south to north. There was a heavy rain before going to the island. The magic thing is that the rain stopped after boarding the boat. This short and sunny weather for half a day was also the most beautiful scenery on this trip to Putuo Mountain.
It is about 10 minutes to walk from the B & B to Puji Temple. When you walk to Puji Temple, the first thing you see is the lotus pond in front of the temple. It is called Haiyin Pond, also known as Fangsheng Pond. It was built in the Ming Dynasty. At this time, the lotus leaves are luxuriant. Although the lotus flowering period has passed, you can still see a few lotus flowers still in bud, lighting up a bright color in the cloudy weather.
There are three bridges on Chishang. The east one is an arch bridge, called Yongshou Bridge. It was built in the 14th year of Wanli of the Ming Dynasty (1586) and is still in use today. The capital of the stone railing on the bridge is engraved with 40 lions, of different shapes and vivid.
Yongshou Bridge leads to the shadow wall of Bodhisattva Wall. There are five big characters written on it: "Observing Bodhisattva in Freedom". The characters are five feet high and powerful.
The bridge in the middle connects to the main entrance of Puji Temple in the north and the Imperial Stele Pavilion in the south. There is a lake-center pavilion, also known as Bajiao Pavilion, facing the gate of Puji Temple. The Imperial Stele Pavilion was built in the ninth year of Yongzheng of the Qing Dynasty (1731). It stands on the middle side of the six-foot white jade stele written by Yongzheng. The inscription records the history of Putuo Mountain. The carved dragon on the forehead of the stele is lifelike, and the calligraphy is vigorous and vigorous. The stone carvings are very exquisite and can be described as unique. It can also be seen that Putuo Mountain has always been valued by the royal family.
To enter Puji Temple, you need to buy a fragrant flower coupon of 5 yuan per person, which can only be paid in cash. Now that you are accustomed to online payment, many tourists are stopped. But the better thing is that in Putuo Mountain, you don't feel any "commercial" atmosphere that promotes you to buy incense sticks and paper money, and there are signs everywhere reminding tourists to beware of fake monks deceiving people, making it easier to visit or worship.
Puji Temple is built along the central axis with the main gate (Imperial Monument Hall), the Tianwang Hall, the Yuantong Hall, the Sutra Tower, and the Abbot Hall. On both sides of the main hall are a bell tower, a drum tower, an auxiliary hall, guest rooms, etc. Even with heavy rain, the temple is still very popular.
Unlike temples in southern Fujian that use red brick walls, buildings in Putuo Mountain are mostly bright yellow brick walls, which is also the color used by the emperor. The ancient trees in the temple reach the sky, the sound of Buddha is lingering, and the meaning of Zen is lingering.
When many tourists come to Puji Temple for the first time, they will find that the gate of Puji Temple is closed and can only be entered through the side door. They are very confused. Generally, temples have the gate open to welcome pilgrims. There is an allusion: Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty came to visit Putuo Mountain when he went south of the Yangtze River in disguise. It was late at night when he arrived at Putuo Mountain. Seeing that the gate was closed, he asked the young monk to report that a master Wan had come to the capital and asked to open the temple gate. The little monk reported to the abbot that someone was going to enter the temple, but he forgot the word "capital". The abbot said: The country's national laws and the temple has temple rules. The temple door will not open unless the King of Heaven comes. The careless little monk ran out without hearing the last sentence and told him that the temple door would not be opened, so please use the side door. Helpless, this heavenly king had no choice but to use the side door. In a fit of anger, Qianlong ordered that this door should never be opened after returning to court. Later, the head of Puji Zen Temple heard that it was indeed the Emperor Lao Tzu, so he begged bitterly. Qianlong took into account his golden mouth and jade teeth, so he adopted a compromise and sealed the main gate to be opened only on Guanyin's birthday. Who knew that Guanyin's birthday comes every 60 years, so this main gate only opens once every 60 years. This practice continues to this day.
A pagoda can be seen on the lotus pond of Puji Temple. This is the "Duo Pagoda". The Duo Pagoda is named after the meaning of "Duo Bao Pagoda" in the Fa Hua Jing. It is the only oldest building in Putuo Mountain that maintains its original appearance. It is in line with the Jiulong Hall, the only surviving palace building in the Nanjing Forbidden City in the Ming Dynasty in Fayu Temple, the Yangzhi Guanyin Monument carved based on the portrait of Guanyin painted by the famous great painter Yan Liben in the early Tang Dynasty, and the rare species on Foding Mountain. The horny tree is collectively called the "Four Treasures of Putuo".
Nowadays, the Tower Courtyard is not open for viewing, and can only be viewed from the outside. It was built in the second year of the Yuan Dynasty (AD 1334). The tower is 32 meters high and has five floors on all sides. It has platforms but no eaves. It is all made of beautiful stones from Taihu Lake. An ancient Buddha is carved on each of the three floors and four sides of the upper body of the tower. It is beautiful and beautiful. Especially the statue of Guanyin, it has a gentle and solemn look, giving people a sense of kindness and dignity. The background is the eighteen Arhats, each with a different look.
Walking in the direction of the parking lot, you can see a low-key small courtyard door. This is probably the most low-key temple in Putuo Mountain, with Tianhua Zen Temple and Baizi Hall inside.
Tianhua Zen Temple was originally a quiet room, called Qinglian Terrace. The nunnery was built by Monk Fuzhen during the Xianfeng period of the Qing Dynasty, which was destroyed in a fire in the 25th year of Guangxu (1899). Built by Houtu Yuede, the regulations are better than those of the old nunnery. There are 82 temples in total. The main hall, the Daxiong Hall, is dedicated to the three sages of Sakyamata, Manjusri, and Samantabhadan Huayan and the ten disciples of Buddha.
The "Baizitang" Buddhist Temple has only opened in recent years. Walking into the Baizi Hall and worshiping the main hall of the Great Compassion Hall, you can see the thousands of hands and eyes, the vast inspiration of the Guanyin Masters and the twenty-eight people. Walking to the back wall of the main Buddha statue, you will see the statue of King Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, the Mingyang Great Wish for Saving Suffering and Benefiting. Up the stairs next to the main hall is the Child-Sending Tower (but it is generally not open to tourists). It is dedicated to the "Child-Sending Guanyin", which is said to be the most effective "Child-Sending Guanyin" in Mount Putuo.
Baibusha Parking Lot is next to Baizitang. You can take a bus directly to Zizhu Forest Scenic Area. However, when you see that there are many people in line, the sign says that it is a 10-minute walk, so you take a walk along the beach to Zizhu Forest. Under the thick clouds, the Baibu Sand has a different beautiful scenery.
[Zizhu Forest Scenic Area, the birthplace of Putuo Mountain for Buddha]
The Zizhu Forest Scenic Area mainly includes scenic spots such as "Refusal to Go to Guanyin Yuan", Chaoyin Cave, Zizhu Forest, Guangming Pool, Nanhai Guanyin Statue and other attractions. There is Guanyin Tiao in the south, and Luojia Mountain Island can be seen on the opposite bank.
This is the birthplace of Buddha offerings on Mount Putuo. According to mountain chronicles of the past dynasties, in the second year of Zhenming of the Later Liang Dynasty (916 AD), the Japanese monk Hui E returned home from Mount Wutai with the statue of Guanyin. The boat was blocked through the ocean surface of Putuo, thinking that the Bodhisattva was unwilling to go east, so he docked and left behind the Buddha statue, which was worshipped by residents surnamed Zhang, which was called "unwilling to go to Guanyin Temple."
The Guanyin Temple that refused to go to Guanyin is the earliest temple in the entire Putuo Mountain. Although it is not large in scale, it occupies an important position in the entire scenic area and is also a must-check place for tourists and pilgrims. A low yellow wall surrounds three simple Buddhist halls, surrounded by cigarettes all year round, and Chaoyin Cave is on the side.
Chaoyin Cave is half-immersed in the sea, with a depth of about 30 meters, and a depth of about 10 meters from the cliff to the bottom of the cave. The cave is intertwined with strange rocks. The entrance of the cave faces the sea and is in the shape of an open mouth. It is hit by the waves day and night. The tide surges into the entrance of the cave, with the momentum of flying dragons and the sound of thunder, hence the name Chaoyin Cave. The three words "Chaoyin Cave" were engraved on the wall of the cave in an imperial book in the 38th year of Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty (1699).
The three characters "Appears" are engraved on the stone cliff. It is said that Guanyin Bodhisattva once appeared here many times.
There is also a Western Jingyuan next to Guanyin Temple that refuses to go. The existing buildings such as the Tianwang Hall and the Daxiong Hall were built by Master Miao Shan in recent years. There is a Guanyin Jumping Stone in the temple. Xixiang is the "Master Huie Memorial Hall" in memory of Japanese monk Huie. It houses a statue of Master Huie and a bronze statue of Guanyin, the main statue of 33 Guanyin spiritual grounds in Japan.
Buta Purple Bamboo Forest is said to be the residence of Guanyin Bodhisattva. Hanging at the door is a plaque titled "Buta Purple Bamboo" written by Kang Youwei in the eighth year of the Republic of China. Zizhu Forest Temple has been rebuilt five times in history, mainly in the Qing Dynasty. The last time was built under the supervision of Master Miaoshan after the reform and opening up. Existing Buddhist buildings in Zizhu Forest include Tianwang Hall, Daxiong Hall, etc. Its unique cultural relic is the purple bamboo stone, with clear patterns on the stone, like purple bamboos growing everywhere.
Another must-check place when visiting Zizhu Forest Scenic Area is the Nanhai Guanyin Statue, which is in the same area as Zizhu Forest Courtyard. The statue of Guanyin in the Nanhai was erected at the Longwan mound on the top of the Xinluo Reef where Hui Eliu refused to go to Guanyin. This bronze statue of Guanyin in the Nanhai has become one of the landmark buildings in Putuo Mountain. To enter Nanhai Guanyin, you need a fragrant flower coupon of 6 yuan/person, and only cash payment is supported.
Walking through a purple bamboo forest, you can see the 33-meter-high statue of Guanyin standing high above, overlooking all living beings. The total height of the statue is 33 meters, of which the base is 13 meters high, the bronze statue is 18 meters high, and the lotus seat is 2 meters long and weighs more than 70 tons. The Buddha's material is precision cast in imitation gold and copper. It consists of 96 copper wall panels and incorporates 6500 grams of gold on the Buddha face. No matter which angle you stare at the statue of Guanyin, you will feel that he is looking at you.
Under the cloudy weather, the Goddess of Mercy statue adds a sense of majesty. There are many pilgrims and tourists, and many pilgrims come to worship. You can feel the power of faith here.
A kowtow is a wish to Buddha, and more often it is also a comfort for one's soul.
From here, you can also see Luojia Mountain on the other side. It resembles a Guanyin Bodhisattva lying on the lotus ocean surface, so it is also called the "Reclining Buddha on the Sea" and the "Sleeping Guanyin". It is said that this is the place where Guanyin Bodhisattva practiced. After the Bodhisattva practiced the certificate, he opened a Taoist temple in Putuo Mountain opposite him. This is the origin of the Guanyin jumping stone on Putuo Mountain. If you have time, I recommend going to Luojia Mountain for a walk. This trip is too rushed, so I will leave it for next time.
[Buddha Top Buddha Top Buddha: A pilgrimage in a heavy rain]
On the first day, I was still glad that the rain had stopped. The night of heavy rain had no intention of stopping until the next morning. Anyway, it was a Bodhisattva's test.
The highest place in Putuo Mountain is Foding Mountain. The main peak of Foding Mountain is named Baihuading, also known as Bodhisattva Ding, with an altitude of 291.3 meters. Foding Mountain Scenic Area is also a must-check place for tourists and pilgrims. There are mainly several attractions on the mountain such as Huiji Temple, Haitian Buddha Country Cliff, Yunfu Stone, Bodhisattva Ding, Goerhorn Tree, and Foding Mountain Cableway. Some people say,"If you don't go to Foding Mountain, you have never been to Putuo Mountain."
There are two ways to get to Foding Mountain now. You can climb up the 1088 steps from Xiangyun Road, or you can take the cableway directly to get on the bus. The one-way ticket for the cableway is 40 yuan/person, and the round-trip ticket is 70 yuan/person. Most tourists will choose to walk one cableway and one way. The most famous "Haitian Buddha Kingdom" stone is located in the middle of Xiangyun Road. We chose the route of walking up and down the mountain by cableway and going to Huiji Temple early in the morning.
The cableway is a closed box that runs in a circular manner. It can be used very quickly during peak periods other than holidays. The cableway time is about five or six minutes. Whether or not to sit is a matter of opinion. Sitting on the cableway can look down and overlook the beautiful scenery of the mountain. It has a unique artistic conception in the clouds and rain. It should be more beautiful if it is sunny.
Go up the cableway to the top of the mountain and follow the signs to reach Huiji Temple directly. Huiji Temple, commonly known as Fodingshan Temple, was founded by Yuan Hui, a monk in the Ming Dynasty. It originally had a stone pavilion and stone Buddha. It was built into a temple in the 58th year of Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty (1793). It has been continuously renovated and expanded to its grand scale today. It is also One of the three major temples that must be checked in Mount Putuo, and it is the highest temple on the island. A 5-yuan fragrant flower certificate is required to enter the temple to pay homage to Buddha and is only accepted in cash.
Huiji Temple is different from the progressive pattern of other temples due to the mountain conditions. Its layout includes the rear of the Tianwang Hall, the Daxiong Hall, the Great Compassion Hall, the Sutra Tower, the Jade Emperor Hall, and the Abbot's Room, all on the same parallel line, embracing the left and right wing rooms. It has a garden architectural style in eastern Zhejiang and is rare in other Buddhist forests.
The gate of Huiji Temple is simple, with the inscription "Huiji Zen Temple". The Tianwang Hall is different from other temples on Putuo Mountain in that it is a hard mountain building. The main hall, Daxiong Hall, houses the Buddha statue of Sakyamuni, with Ananda and Kasyapa standing on both sides. There are ten statues carved on each side of the main hall, which are the "Twenty Heavens" in Buddhist legends. On the back sides are decorated with wooden statues of Guanyin and thousand-handed Guanyin. Even though it was raining heavily, there were still many pilgrims in the temple, and the Buddhist sound lingered around, giving people a feeling of transcendence.
The 2.7-meter-high statue of Guanyin Bodhisattva is carefully sculpted in the Guanyin Hall, and 123 stone statues of Guanyin Bodhisattva are inlaid on the four walls. It collects the Guanyin statues painted by famous painters in the Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties. They are "responsive to requests" and are regarded as the "most effective" temple in Putuo Mountain.
On the left side of the back door of Huiji Temple, there is also the "Putuo Goose Horns", one of the three treasures of Putuo Mountain. This tree was brought by Burmese monks when they went to Putuo Mountain to make a pilgrimage more than 200 years ago. It is a rare plant in the world. Two branches grow side by side from the surface of the earth, two branches are divided into two more branches at a height of more than ten feet, and then divided into two regularly upwards, so it is also called the "husband and wife tree".
The rain became heavier and heavier, and I was once confused about whether to walk down the mountain. Thinking about the "Haitian Buddha Kingdom" stone, I finally chose to walk along Xiangyun Road. Under the pouring rain, on the mountain road, kneeling every three steps, bowing every five steps, and kowtowing every seven steps. What kind of perseverance is this? But this scene can be seen almost every day on Xiangyun Road in Putuo Mountain, whether windy or rainy. This mountain road is also known as the "Pilgrimage Road" of Putuo Mountain, which makes people sigh at the infinite power of faith.
Xiangyun Road is a stone road from Fayu Temple to Foding Mountain. It has 1088 stone steps and is about 1 kilometer long. This road was originally a winding path, built by the dedication and stone masonry of the Huiji Temple, Monk Wenzheng, who presided over the 30th year of Guangxu's reign. It connects the two major temples of Putuo Mountain, Fayu Temple and Huiji Temple. It was the only passage before the cableway was connected. Today, many pilgrims and tourists still choose to walk up the mountain from here. This section of the road is also part of the China Putuoshan International Marathon Track and is known as "the cleanest marathon track in the world."
The most famous sight on Xiangyun Road is the stone carving of "Haitian Buddhist Kingdom". It is located at the corner of the middle section of Xiangyun Road. There are huge square rocks standing on the roadside. Hou Jigao, the famous anti-Japanese soldier of Zhejiang Province in the Ming Dynasty, inscribed the four characters "Haitian Buddhist Kingdom". The writing force is vigorous, the ink is full, and the artistic conception is profound. This inscription has now become the name of Putuo Mountain, just as important as the "Five Mountains are the only one" on top of Mount Tai. Another stone is stacked on the cliff of the Buddha Kingdom on the sea and sky, high in the sea of clouds. It is dangerous and mysterious. The words "Cloud Supporting Stone" are engraved on the stone. The words "Nanwu Guanyin Bodhisattva" are engraved on the huge stone on the right.
There are 1088 steps and slippery roads on rainy days. It took more than 30 minutes to get down to Fayu Temple. Looking back at the worshippers who kowtowed every three steps in the heavy rain on Xiangyun Road, I was moved and admired.
[Fayu Temple, the highest honor of Jiulong Caizhou]
The last stop on the Putuo Mountain tour, Fayu Temple, is also the temple with the longest stay. Official data is that it is second only to Puji Temple in size, but personally feel that it should be the largest temple among the three temples that can be visited by pilgrims. Fayu Temple was founded in the eighth year of Wanli of the Ming Dynasty and was initially named "Haichao Temple". In the 38th year of Kangxi (1699), the Qing court awarded Jinxiu Temple to repair the main hall, and awarded "Tianhua Fayu" and "Fayu Zen Temple" plaques, so it was renamed "Fayu Temple". During the Tongzhi and Guangxu years, temples were built one after another, becoming a famous temple in Jiangnan.
When you enter the temple, the first thing you see is the Nine Dragons Wall by the Lotus Pond, which is lifelike.
The entrance gate is upgraded in turn. There is the Hall of Tianwang on the central axis, the Hall of Jade Buddha behind it, the Bell and Drum Tower between the two halls, and then there are the Guanyin Hall, the Imperial Monument Hall, the Daxiong Hall, the Sutra Tower, and the Abbot Hall.
The Jade Buddha Hall behind the Tianwang Hall is three-room wide and is a small and exquisite building with double eaves and mountains. The Jade Buddha Hall was originally dedicated to a Sakyamuni Jade Buddha statue that Huigen, a monk from Putuo Mountain, went to India to pay homage to Buddha in the eighth year of Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty (1882). It was later destroyed. The jade Buddha currently worshipped is 1.3 meters high and was moved from Beijing Yongle Palace in 1985.
Guanyin Hall is also known as the Kowloon Hall. The Kowloon carvings are very exquisite and vivid. The Kowloon caisson and some glazed tiles in the Kowloon Hall were demolished from the Ming Palace in Nanjing and are known as one of the three treasures of Putuo Mountain. The most precious Jiulong caisson is placed in the middle of the top of the Jiulong Hall. The caisson is carved according to the simple and elegant Jiulong beading pattern. It has a dragon roof, eight dragon rings and eight hanging pillars flying down with heads held high. The base of the eight gold pillars is an exquisite carved dragon brick, and a glass lamp hangs in the center, like a pearl, forming a three-dimensional pattern of nine dragons playing with beads. The shape is beautiful and the knife skills are rough, which is amazing. There happened to be a Dharma meeting in the temple when I went there, so I could only look up outside the temple. It was really amazing and worthy of being a temple treasure.
The entire temple is ancient and ancient, and the tours are in an orderly manner. In the heavy rain, you can still see the incense lingering and the Sanskrit sound.
Not far from Fayu Temple is Qianbusha. I originally planned to go to Dacheng Aunnery after leaving Fayu Temple, but the bus connecting the special line did not stop at Dacheng Aunnery Station. In addition, it was raining heavily, so I gave up and took the bus directly to the dock. If anyone wants to go to Dacheng Nunnery, remember to get off the bus and pay homage to Buddha at Dacheng Nunnery in the direction from Puji Temple to Fayu Temple.
[Coastal Archway and Putuo Holy Land]
On the return journey, I will take the terminal station, which is the terminal station, but in fact it is still five or six minutes 'walk from the terminal. On this short stretch of the road, you can see the Duangu Wharf (you can take a boat here to go to Luojia Mountain), and there is also a majestic archway. There is a description on the side of it called the "Coastal Archway". This is also the earliest dock., and there are still embankments left.
The archway was built in the ninth year of Yongzheng of the Qing Dynasty and rebuilt in 1919. There are four pillars and three doors, with green tiles and flying eaves, and five plaques on them are inscribed "The Holy Land of the South China Sea","Together Climbing on the Other Side","Treasure Flooding and Lost Crossing","Golden Rope Jue Road", and "Turning Back to the Shore". They were inscribed by Li Yuanhong, Xu Shichang, Feng Guozhang and others of the Beiyang government. Couplets are engraved on the doorpost;"If you feel it, you can understand it, thousands of rivers have water, thousands of rivers and moons; if you don't have any inorganic cover, there is no cloud and thousands of miles of sky","The sacred mark is on the Jia Mountain, and all living beings of all countries are happy; Buddha's light rises on the island, and the thousand-year tides are calm and waves","There are two tides in a day, and you can hear its own coming from it; there are thousands of mountains and thousands of rocks, don't laugh at him for not being aware of ignorance"," When you come to this mountain, you must clear your mind before visiting the Pumen; When you cross that sea, you must turn back early if you want to reach the other bank."
There is also a figure standing on the reef on the right side of the archway, with his hands folded together to pay homage to Buddha at Putuo Mountain. This is a scene in the legendary "Short Aunt Holy Site".
On the left side of the archway is Ciyun Zen Temple, which is also the last Buddhist temple visited on this trip. Compared with several large temples, it is less crowded and peaceful.
Further ahead is the pier, where the gate of the "Putuo Holy Land" is located. This is also the landmark building of Putuo Mountain.
There is also an inscription "Sea and Sky Buddhist Kingdom" on the main square. The rainy pilgrimage journey to Mount Putuo ended. Although it was not completely completed, it was enough for people to reach their hearts!
[Accommodation, eating and drinking]
How to live on the island? As mentioned earlier, Putuo Mountain is still relatively complete in tourism. There are many star-rated hotels. Of course, you can also choose a more down-to-earth B & Bs. Most B & Bs are concentrated on Meicen Road, close to Financial Street. It takes about 10 minutes to walk from the dock and about 10 minutes to walk to Puji Zen Temple. B & Bs can generally provide pick-up services to pick up your luggage at the dock. B & B is recommended for those with low budgets and no big requirements for accommodation. It's simple, clean and has a separate bathroom. The picture shows the Putuoyuan Boutique B & B I stayed in this time.
This is the third time I have visited Putuo Mountain. Now there are many dining options here. In addition to Suzhai in the three major temples, there are also many good options around Financial Street and B & Bs. (Currently, the Suzhai in the three major temples is not open yet. The picture shows the notice at the Suzhai window of Puji Temple)
I only had one dinner on Putuo Mountain. The owner of the B & B recommended this "Ajie Special Seafood Restaurant", which was really good.
After going berserk for half a day, of course, I have to eat something good to replenish my strength! This area is a residential area, and all the houses are in the same style. This Ajie only has a simple word "Ajie" on the door, and the decoration is very ordinary.
As soon as we entered the door, the boss was very enthusiastic and even took the initiative to recommend us to order a group purchase, which was more cost-effective! The set meal has five courses, enough for two or three people!
Special large yellow croaker, the fish is particularly tender and really huge! Very fresh! Highly recommended!
Water white shrimp, which is boiled shrimp, is also extremely fresh
The seaweed on the side dishes is refreshing and delicious
There are also stir-fried scallops, seaweed and shrimp skin soup, and seasonal vegetables. They all taste good and are sufficient.
What must be particularly praised is the service, which is very enthusiastic and pays attention to feedback on diners 'tastes! Several tables in the store are repeat customers.
[Postscript]
